A Bride for a Merger -
Chapter 2
"Hey wake up," I heard as someone nudged my shoulder. "We're here."
Finally, I thought to myself. I had slept throughout the entire flight and was awaken by Christopher only when we were about to land. And once we got off the plane and his driver picked us up, I decided to go to sleep once again. Sleeping had always been a form of coping mechanism for me, and since I knew Christopher wasn't going to say a word to me throughout the drive I decided to sleep.
"Mrs.Lee," his driver said to me as he opened my door. Christopher had already exited through the other door.
"Thank you." I said to him as I got out of the car.
I made a mental note to tell him another time that it was Diamond-Lee, but I'd let it go for now. I wasn't going to change my name to the name of my so called husband who hates me, I'd feel better if I only had it hyphenated. "You coming or not?" Christopher said to me. I only realized that he had took out both my suitcases and was now waiting for me.
"Yeah." I said to him as I went to take one of my suitcases from him.
"Leave it." he said coldly.
"It's okay, I can carry it." I tried to tell him.
"Allison, seriously. Just leave them. he replied cold-heartedly.
"Okay." I sighed and began following him. As far as I could see his house was beautiful.
Christopher entered and I followed him then closed the door behind me. I looked around to see that we were now in the living room area, considering the couches and sofa and the big flat screen TV on the wall etc.
"The kitchen and the dining room is that way," Christopher said pointing to the left where a doorway was before heading upstairs.
I followed him as he came to stop at a door on the left side and opened it. He placed my suitcases on the floor before talking to me.
"This is your room. You're an interior designer so you'll decorate it however you please. You have an ensuite bathroom here as well. My room is on the other side of the house, the other rooms are guestrooms and bathroom. You stick to your side of the house okay?"
"Yeah okay." I replied nodding like an obedient child.

"Let me know if there's anything else you want in here when you decided to fix it however you want. The kitchen is downstairs, make yourself at home, use whatever you want. I have a housekeeper that come and cook and clean the place three times a week so you don't have to worry about that."
"Got it. But I can cook for myself." I said to him.
"Well good, whatever. Let me know if there's anything you need but remember stick to your side of the house and don't bug me." he said turning to leave before stopping and pulling a paper from his pocket. "And here's Nathan number, he's the driver. In case you need to go anywhere, he'll also be your drive to and from work. Or if you wish I could get you a car..."
"Thanks, but you don't need to get me a car." I said to him genuinely.
Despite of him being a jerk I guess he was making an effort to make sure I was comfortable with my new living arrangement and that I won't bother him. Or maybe he just felt obligated.
Well if that was his plan he doesn't have to worry about me.
"And here's my number in case of any important issues." He said handing me another small card.
Who carries their number around on cards?
"Thanks." I nodded taking the card from him.
"Oh and by the way, I'll have an account opened for you and I'll put the money in there every month." he said.
"What?" I asked him confused. "What money? I didn't ask you to give me money. The company I worked for have a branch here so I'll still be working only here now.
"You didn't ask for money but since I'll now be managing a part of your dad's business and I'm married to you, I think it's now my job to make sure you do get back a part of that profit." he said to me.
"Oh," I said to him. That was the only thing I could think of saying at the moment.
"Yeah anyway, goodnight Allison." Christopher replied before leaving and closing the door behind him before I could respond.
"Yeah. Good... night" I replied now to a closed door.
I leaned my back against that door and let out a frustrated sigh. Instantly, tears started running down my cheek. I might try to act all tough at times and I may seem all strong, but at the end of the day, I too will break.
