A Secret Alpha Mate -
Chapter 108
(Isla)
The back yard looked great. It was tasteful, and elegant and nothing was in your face.
Long white roses were in clear glasses placed around, lots of different sized candles lit up the back. I stopped when my eyes went over a photo of my parents that I've never seen before. They looked so casual so happy. Staring into each other's eyes like they were the only people in the world. They were taken too soon. Jackson puts his arm around me, "We don't have to stay for long." Gianna comes up with a glass of champagne for us both.
"I'll get you a plate of food, I know you don't think you're hungry but you'll feel a little better once you eat." She turns away without letting me say anything.
"That was one hell of a speech." Lucas places a hand on my other shoulder.
"Spoken like a true Luna, through and through." Cameron comes to stand by his side.
"We can handle the guests if you need to dip early." Lucas says looking around, "They would understand."
"I know." I whisper knowing they would still hear me, "I want to stay a while. I didn't realize this many people would show up."
"Some came from other packs," Cam says, surveying the crowd, "There would have been more but since we had to change it the further packs couldn't make it in time." He explains.
I was in awe of the fact that my parents life's touched so many others. My heart swelled with gratitude and pride at that, it was nice to have something besides pain in there.
"Yes, I think we should stay." I say to no one in particular
"Do you mind, Alpha?" I head a familiar voice come up and Jackson takes a step back and John pulls me into a hug, motioning for Abigial behind me to join us. I'm enveloped in their embrace.
"My sweet little Isla. I knew you felt familiar. Your parents used to take you out to my family's garden for you to pick pumpkins around Halloween." He gives me a wide smile, "We always knew you were something special." He turns to Abigial, "But the Alpha's daughter? Now that is special." He doesn't stop smiling.
"It's so good to see you, John." I say, surprised that I returned his smile, "Honestly, I missed you all here."
"And we missed you. The Alpha's daughter. I never knew I would be mingling with such esteemed company." He chuckles.

"Oh wait," I forgot he didn't know Jackson yet, "You have to meet me mate." I turn towards Jackson who steps back up and reaches a hand to John.
"Nice you meet you, John. Thanks for looking out for our girls for so long."
John gives a nod and his signature smile, "The pleasure was all mine, really."
The rest of the night went similar, people coming up sharing stories I never knew of my parents. I was surprised that I actually enjoyed it. I could feel the love for them. Jackson was right, this was a celebration of them instead of a mourning, even though I saw a few red faces and tears.
I was glad I didn't leave after the memorial like I originally wanted to. Being surrounded by all these people celebrating my parents life was incredible. It made me feel closer to my parents, learning more about them than I ever knew.
We still left earlier than most others, I felt exhausted after a few hours of being there. Mentally and physically tired, Jackson had to support me to our room.
He was on the floor helping me take off my shoes, "How do you feel, my love?"
"Tired, sad, strangely happy, almost whole for the first time in a while." I say, sleepy.
"Let's get you to bed." Jackson stands up looking back at the vanity, "Okay, I think this seems right." He scrutinizes a bottle before dowsing a cotton pad with it, "Lay down, I'll take off your makeup." I start laughing.
"I can do that myself." I reach towards the pad and remove my makeup myself while he turns me over to unzip me. I laugh, actually laugh as he flips me and I hit my head on the pillow.
"Sorry," He mutters, "Your just so, tiny." He laughs with me. I felt good for the first time in ages, "Where are your pajamas?"
I shake my head, "This is okay." He raises an eyebrow but doesn't complain as he takes off his clothes and holds me close to his chest.
Cloves and rain overcome my senses and I breath into his chest, the sound of his steady heartbeat sends me fast to sleep.
(Jackson)
Isla was fast asleep on me when Cam mindlinked me that their parents were getting ready to head out.
I reluctantly slipped out of bed, as carefully as possible so that Isla didn't notice I was gone. Her auburn hair was fanning her face and her nose scrunched up a bit when I left, but she didn't wake up. I tiptoed into the bathroom and grabbed a quick shower before meeting Cam and Lucas.
Cam is waiting outside Benjamin's old office, fresh and ready to go.
"Where's Lucas?" I ask, confused, this had to do with both their parents.
"Uh, I think he might have overslept." Cam rubs his neck.
"Is he with a girl? Or did he drink too much?" I ask.
"Er- well." We get cut off as a door opens and shuts behind us, I hesitate to turn back, after a few seconds I steal a glance, someone is sneaking out of his door, trying to sneak past us, as if that would work. Cam scoffs at the notion and I give him a knowing look. Lucas is by our side in seconds, his hair is disarray, but wearing fresh clothes. Cam rolls his eyes and represses a smile. I grab his neck and shove him through the door.
"You idiot." I mutter, before taking my place behind the desk, "Lucas your parents are coming this afternoon, I want you gone in the next hour or so." He groans, "Someone needs to be taking care of the pack." I say before turning to Cam, "Your parents will be here a bit later, but I'm going to stay and fill them all in. I know you have business with your warriors and Bryce, as soon as that is done I want you to head back to Moon Stone." He nods.
"We will come back for the ceremony for the pack members Benjamin murdered." I say cooly, "But I think its time that we take our place back at Moon Stone. Most of the problems here are solved. Well, the ones we know about." I muse, "Its nothing that our parents can't handle, they have years on us."
"You sure you want to give our parents the pack? They were a bit wild back in the day." Lucas adds.
"I think we can trust them now." Cam gives Lucas a look, "I hope." He adds smiling.
"I think they will love it, my dad is over the moon. My mom is going to come back with Isla and I this afternoon to pack her things, but I think we have everything settled. Once we're back some Elder's are coming to move the dark witch to their holding cells. After what was found here, she won't ever be allowed out."
"Good." Cam smiles.
"How is the warrior, the one in that creepy hut?" I ask.
"Actually he's doing really well. I don't think he will gain back the years lost but him and his mate are making the most of it. She told me they are better than ever and that she's always likes older men." Lucas laughs at that, "They're actually expecting a child." "That's fantastic news!" I say, "They know we're taking care of any expenses that will arise for them, and they're one of the first on the list, along with the fallen warriors families to get renovations?" I confirm.
"Yes, they know, they are ecstatic about it. Especially with the new one on the way." Lucas is smiling too. At least we could help these pack members have a better future than the hell they had to live through the pas almost fifteen years.
