Chapter 124

Elara sart, Grod morning?"

She had gone out to dinner last night and had a few drinks

When she got back, Lysander was already there.

Her mind was a bit foggy at the time.

Now, thinking about it, she could only feel a bit awkward. "You Why did you suddenly come over?" Besides, she was in Brookfield now.

Lysander didn't go back to Starfield City but actually came all the way to Brookfield to replace her!

Lysander looked at her and said, "Just happened to drop by to check on you. Now look at what you did. And drinking- what's with the drinking?"

Elara smiled awkwardly. "It was for work, socializing. You know how it is-business is business, there's no way around it..."

She didn't mention that it was her own indulgence that made her drink too much.

After hearing her explanation, Lysander-didn't reprimand her. He simply said, "When you're out for business, who would dare force you to drink? Tell me who they are, I'll have a word with them." Elara was speechless.

Seeing the seriousness on his face, she knew there was no way to get this over with easily.

She cleared her throat and said sheepishly, "I'm going to take a shower."

If he asked any more questions, she felt like she'd be doomed to get a scolding!

Elara hurried to the bathroom, took a shower, and then realized that Lysander had even removed her makeup for her.

Every time she came back from work ater a long day, the last thing she wanted to do was take off her makeup.

'He's too considerate, she thought.

When Elara finished her shower and came out, Lysander was sitting on the couch.

He was already up.

Elara rubbed her hair dry and turned to Lysander. "When are you leaving?" she asked. "Where to?" Lysander asked.

"I thought you said you just came by to see me," Elara said.

Lysander replied, "I'll head back to Starfield City tonight."

"I'm going back too!" Elara said.

Lysander stared at her. "Are you finished with everything you need to do here?"

"Not yet, but my cousins getting married and she wants me to go back, Elara said.

"Getting married? So soon?" Lysander asked.

I didn't seem like Natalie had been engaged for very long.

Elara shrugged. "These days, weddings happen fast. If people walt around thinking things through too much, who's ever going to get married?"

After drying her hair, Elara tossed the towel aside and sat down on Lysander's lap. "Hold me," she said.

Lysander looked at her, his cool face softening into a smile at her sudden request. "Is it too late to apologize?" he teased.

"I'll drink less next time," Elara promised.

"No drinking," Lysander commanded, "Not unless I'm there with you." "Crispin's there too, and I have people with me, so it's safe," Elar said.

Elara had started taking her bodyguards with her whenever she went out.

As someone with a family, she was understandably cautious about her safety.

Lysander said, "It's not allowed even if Crispin is around you. He's a guy too! I'm be worried when I'm not with you."

Hearing the seriousness in his voice, Elara replied, "Aren't you being a little too possessive?"

Lately, she had been feeling more and more like Lysander was becoming overbearing. Lysander quickly said, "No, I'm not!"

"Yes, you are," Elara countered with a playful smile. "But, you're my honey, so I guess I'll allow it."

The word "honey" made Lysander's eyes flash with a hint of happiness.

She was just so good at pampering him, and he just couldn't do anything to her.

Elara hugged him and sighed as she leaned affectionately against his shoulder.

Lysander wrapped his arms around her. "What's wrong? Are you upset?"

He wasn't even unhappy that she drank too much!

He wasn't even picking on her for that.

Elara sighed again. "Do you know how fast they're getting married? I wasn't ready for it at all."

She was still worried about Natalie.

Even though Natalie's accident was still some time away, Elara couldn't help but feel worried now that she was about to marry Curtis. Lysander looked at her thoughtfully. "Are you still going to her wedding?"

"Of course I'm going," Elara replied. "You don't understand. Not only do I have to go, but I can't treat Curtis badly either "Why not?" Lysander asked.

"If I treat Curtis poorly, my cousin will be angry with me and think I'm disrespecting her as a friend. If that happens, s 15:01 Sat, Nov 9.

won't listen to anything t say in the future!" Elara said.

If she fell out with Natalie, and something happened to her later Natalie wouldn't even turn to her for help.

Then Elara wouldn't be able to do anything for her, even if she wanted to.

Elara returned to Starfield City with Lysander.

Then, she went to attend Natalie's wedding.

By all accounts, she should have been happier than anyone for her cousin, but....

Because of the tragic ending of Natalie she had seen in her previous life after Natalie's marriage, Elara found it hard to truly

celebrate.

"Elara," Natalie called, "can you help me with this necklace?"

Elara walked over and carefully helped Natalie fasten the necklace around her neck.

Natalie smiled brightly. "How does it look?"

"It looks beautiful," Elara said, looking at her. "But are you sure you really want to get married? It's all happening so fast!" "When you meet the right person, you don't wait around! You know I'm not one to drag things out," Natalie said. "You're too good for him," Elara murmured. "I don't think he deserves you."

Natalie gave her a knowing look and smiled, "I know you love me! We'll still be good sisters even after I get married, don't worry!"

The wedding proceeded without any surprises.

It was just a typical wedding scene.

After the ceremony, Elara noticed her uncle, Harold, making his rounds and greeting guests.

He seemed excited about his daughter's marriage.

Watching him, Elara couldn't help but recall how, in her previous life, after Natalie's accident, Harold had fallen into a da: never paying much attention to her again.

But now, here he was, still cheerful, talking animatedly with Edith.

Edith had known Elara's uncle from before, so naturally, she had to attend the wedding.

Upon seeing Elara, she greeted Elara politely, "Miss Kensington.

Her attitude was polite.

Elara walked away without responding.

Lysander had come with her but was busy at the moment.

She didn't see him, so she sat down in one of the ballroom chairs, preparing to send him a message. 15:01 Sat, Nov 9

Harold approached her and said, "Mrs. Linde just greeted you. Why did you walk off like that?"

Elara shrugged and said. "What was I supposed to do then? Stand around and make small talk? I barely know her.

Truthfully, there was even a small grudge there.

Harold raised an eyebrow and said, "Didn't you date her son before?"

Elara sighed in exasperation and said, "How do you still remember this stuff? You're way too nosy!"

Lowering his voice, Harold leaned in gossipily and said, "Mr. Lile fell ill, and Mrs. Linde got Asher a position in the family's logistics company. I thought you'd be interested.

You mean that Asher's working for his stepfather's company?" Elara asked, surprised.

Harold nodded and said, "Yes, and he's doing quite well. Mrs. Linde has even introduced him to some important people. The Linde company is thriving. If you weren't marrying Lysander, you could also have ended up as a wealthy wife with Asher!" Elara, however, had been intent on keeping Natalie and Curtis apart now and didn't pay much attention listening to Harold, who still hadn't given up on convincing her to leave Lysander.

Especially after meeting Lysander today, Harold had noticed how much he was starting to resemble the old Wyatt, and deep down, it scared him.

Just as Harold finished speaking, Lysander's cool voice interrupted from nearby. "Mr. Jarvis, it seems you enjoy playing matchmaker for others?" 15:01 Sat, Nov 9 sa.
