After Death, Love Unveiled (Elara and Lysander) -
Unveiled 125
Chapter 125
Harold looked up and saw that Lysander had returned at some point.
Lysander's expression was cold, revealing nothing of his true emotions.
It was as if Harold were seeing Wyatt as a young man again.
Harold stood up and said to Lysander, "You two chat, and I'll go take care of some things first."
"Is this how you treat me, as an outsider? Is there something you can't say in front of me? You can only talk about it in secret with Elara?" Lysander said.
Just because Lysander was pleasant in Elara's presence didn't mean he was equally friendly to everyone else.
In the past, when he was a student at Brookfield, he didn't even interact much with others.
Even facing Harold now, it didn't seem to soften him.
He knew Harold was Elara's uncle, but it still made him uncomfortable that Harold continually tried to set Elara someone else..
That was something that made it hard for Lysander to ignore.
Lysander's words were filled with intimidation, and Harold listened, casting a sidelong glance at him. Though Lysander was young, he was still the "Mr. Blue-Blooded of the esteemed Hawthorne family. While he didn't want Elara to marry Lysander, he also didn't want to alienate the Hawthorne family. With their status in Starfield City, a rift could jeopardize his future in the manor business.
If he truly wanted to sever ties, he should have done so long ago.
Harold had some guts, but not much.

Harold could feel that once Elara got married with Lysander, he would no longer have any authority in front of them.
He now understood why Steven had been staying in Brookfield and refused to come here.
Besides, every time Steven did visit, he never bothered to go to the Hawthorne family, and he would leave as soon as his business was done.
Dealing with people like Wyatt or Lysander every day felt like a torment he wanted to avoid.
Lysander replied, "I just feel like you don't like me, Mr. Jarvis. If I'm doing something wrong, please let me know, and I'll change it."
Harold laughed. Lysander's assertiveness made him feel slightly rebellious, so he spoke in a gentler tone, "You were probably too young to understand how your mother left. I think it might be worth asking her about it." The atmosphere froze for a moment.
Lysander stared at Harold, saying nothing.

His expression was calm, but his eyes were clouded with an icy chill

Elara had been living with Lysander for a long time, and at the moment, she also had no idea what Lysander was thinking.
Although she hated that her uncle was always trying to prevent her from being with Lysander, Harold was still her uncle and Natalie's father.
Elara stood up and hurriedly said to Harold, "Uncle, didn't you say you had something to do? You should go ahead and get busy! Lysander and I will leave first."
She took Lysander's hand, intending to lead him away, but he didn't budge at first.
Looking at him, she whispered, "Lysander, my uncle didn't mean it."
She knew that Lysander's mother had jumped to her death right in front of him, an event that had deeply affected him. Her uncle directly touched Lysander on the raw by mentioning his mother's death, and Elara feared that if Lysander got serious about it, something terrible might happen. After a moment, Lysander glanced at Harold and finally moved, following Elara out the door.
Natalie and Curtis had just returned from dropping off their other friends and saw Elara. "Are you guys heading back?" Natalie asked.
Lysander ignored her and continued walking away.
Elara noticed this and said, a bit embarrassed, "I'll go first."
Natalie frowned in confusion as she watched Lysander's retreating figure. 'What has made him angry?' she thought.
She had seen Lysander a few times before.
Although his background was not ordinary, he had always been gentle around Elara.
Because of this, she wasn't that afraid of Lysander.
But his reaction just now had been quite strange to Natalie.
Elara followed Lysander and got into the car. She looked at the quiet man beside her and held his hand. "Lysander, are you okay?"
He didn't respond, merely opening the window.
Elara quickly reached over to help him close it again.
He looked at her and asked, "What are you doing?"
Elara replied, "There are so many people on the road at this time of night. If you open the window, they'll see you. You can't let anyone see such a handsome face!"
Lysander glanced at her and gently raised the corner of his mouth in a small smile.
Elara felt relieved to see that he wasn't as tense as before.
She asked gently, "Can I hold you?"
To her surprise, Lysander wrapped his arms around her of his own accord.
Elara said, "I know my uncle says things that can be really irritating sometimes, and I've told him so many times. You know,

elders just like to arrange things for people, always acting like it for your own good?
Lysander didn't join in the negative talk about Harold. In fact, hink your uncle has a point?
Elara, who had been leaning against him, straightened up at his words.
She looked at him and asked in confusion, "What?"
Lysander met her gaze, taking in her small, delicate face. "Would you be afraid to marry me and never leave if I didn't say yes?
Elara was stunned by his question.
She had no doubt that she and Lysander would be together forever.
As long as he cherished her in his heart, and treated her better than Asher did, she wouldn't be able to leave a handsome husband like him.
But the intensity in his eyes made her feel inexplicably pressured
Sometimes, being loved too much could be a burden.
She feared that if she failed to respond to his feelings, something unexpected might happen.
Before Elara could answer, Lysander said, "You're hesitating."
Elara leaned back against him and replied softly, "I'm not hesitating. I just didn't expect you to ask such a question. If you continue to treat me well and show that I'm important to you, I won't leave you. But if one day you suddenly feel that I don't matter, that you don't care about me anymore, will you be upset if I decide to go?"
Lysander listened as he looked at Elara.
Her words rendered him speechless and at the same time, her words seemed to ease his anxiety.
In the past, when troubles arose, he had always kept to himself.
But after being with Elara, she seemed to be able to ease his grievances easily.
Later, they came back to the Westwood Villa, and Natalie called,
She had learned from Harold why Lysander was upset. "I just told my dad off. How's Lysander? He didn't argue with you, did - he? He looked so angry when he left."
Elara replied, "He's fine. If it wasn't for your wedding, I wouldn't have taken him to your father. My uncle always did. He had a busy day, but he still had time to talk about it." Natalie sighed, "I already told him off! Ugh, I'm really sick to death of all this."
"What's wrong?" Elara asked.
"Curtis's mom got into a car accident on her way home. I have to go to the hospital with him now," Natalie said.
