Chapter 137

He held Elara close, and they shared a moment of intimacy.

Though he did not say a word, he was genuinely happy.

From the moment they met until now, they'd been together for quite a while.

At first, she had despised him completely. He did not even dare to imagine a future for the two of them.

But now, she was willing to marry him.

It all felt like a dream.

It was the 23rd of December.

Elara and Lysander went to the Hawthorne family for dinner.

Since Felicity wanted them to arrive early, they left the house in the afternoon after Elara woke up.

The Hawthorne family was very lively today.

In addition to Lysander's family, there was also his eldest uncle's family and Evelyn.

Evelyn had been single for so long and was the only one there.

The oldest uncle's family had two daughters, both married and had children.

They were both married and had children.

The whole family was very lively.

Adair also came over.

She had come over two days ago and had been staying at her aunt's place.

Zavala peeled a fruit for her granddaughter and glanced at Adair.

Her niece was her brother's child when he was older.

So, from the moment she was born, she became the apple of her brother's eye.

Adair always got what she wanted, no matter what.

Seeing her dark expression, Zavala asked, "What's wrong with you? You're always pulling a long face every day. Who made you unhappy?" Adair said, "I'm in a bad mood."

She had wanted to talk to Zavala earlier.

But Zavala and her family were usually out of town.

She would come back once in a while.

Now that she was back, Adair had the chance to complain to her aunt.

"Who's been bullying you?" Zavala asked with a laugh.

"There's this woman at my office who's really annoying. She always bullies me just because her family has some money! don't know what she did, but she's really good at using connections," Adair replied. "Is there anyone who could bully you?" Zavala asked, surprised.

"Really!" Adair said. "And... Evelyn is helping her. She's even become Evelyn's disciple. If I had known, I would've just become Evelyn's disciple from the start."-

No matter how close Elara was to Evelyn, Adair's aunt was Evelyn's sister-in-law.

If she spoke up, Evelyn could not refuse.

Zavala said, "Isn't your master pretty good?"

"He's pretty good," Adair said. "But can he compare to Evelyn?"

Ever since Elara became Evelyn's disciple, she had been very impressive among the newcomers.

Although they were both professional lawyers, Evelyn was from the Hawthorne family.

With that kind of support, she would be able to achieve anything in Starfield City in the future.

Adair had always been headstrong.

No matter what it was, she wanted the best.

So, naturally, she was not very happy to see Elara.

"You," Zavala said with a laugh. "Sometimes you're just too headstrong. This kind of thing doesn't affect anything."

"Aunt Zavala," Adair sighed.*

"Okay, okay," Zavala said. "I'll talk to Evelyn. But whether she'll take you along, I don't know. You really are something."

Hearing this, Adair's mood improved.

She looked at Zavala curiously and asked, "Will Lysander

come today?"

"I think so," Zavala replied. "I heard he's coming. That guy has such an awkward personality; usually, it's nearly impossible to get him to join us for a meal."

"Then I'll get to see him later?" Adair sounded excited.

Zavala glanced at Adair. "Why do you want to see him?

"I heard he's handsome. I want to see for myself," Adair replied.

"He's pretty good-looking, but... he has a fiancée. Don't even think about it. You'll only be asking for trouble." Zavala warned. "His fiancée? Isn't she that country bumpkin from Brookfield? They're not married. What if he sees me and is mesmerized by my beauty?" Adair said confidently.

Zavala glanced at her with an expression that said she was just daydreaming and could not be bothered.

She did not interact much with Lysander and Elara.

She did not know what was going on between them. However, she had heard from Felicity that they were getting married, When Adair saw this, she would likely give up. 12:35 Sat, Nov 16 B

Before leaving, Adair went upstairs to change her clothes and put on makeup. She looked at her beautiful appearance in the mirror and was very satisfied.

No matter what kind of personality Lysander had, he would surely be charmed when he saw her like this. She imagined what Lysander's reaction would be when he saw her.

She imagined what Lysander Hawthorne would look like when he saw her.

Adair and Lysander were already there.

Elara was called away by Felicity, who insisted on dragging her to discuss the plot of her new book.

Lysander was in the living room, coaxing his younger brother.

Adair walked in behind her aunt, hearing her greet Lysander, "Lysander, you're back?"

Adair's gaze immediately shifted to Lysander.

It was not cold in the room, so he was wearing a simple black short-sleeved shirt. His hair was short, but he looked handsome.

He was so handsome that it made one's heart race.

Adair had heard that he was extraordinary before, but now that she saw him, she seemed to have a new definition of handsome. Lysander raised his head, glanced at the two who had entered, and simply responded with a "Hmm."

He lowered his head again to look at his phone screen.

Aubrey greeted Zavala, "Aunt Zavala."

"Where's

your

mother?" Zavala asked.

"She's downstairs talking to my sister-in-law." Was the reply.

Zavala said, "Then I'll go check on them."

Adair said to Zavala, "Aunt Zavala, I won't follow. I'll wait for you here."

Zavala glanced at her and nodded. "Alright."

Adair was about the same age as Lysander and the others, so they should be able to chat.

Once her aunt had left, Adair sat down beside them and began to size up Lysander.

Seeing his unapproachable demeanor, Adair hesitated but decided to speak to Aubrey instead. "Aubrey, is this your brother?" Aubrey glanced at her. Since she was a relative of her aunt's, he responded with a relatively neutral attitude. "Yes."

Adair then asked, "What are you guys playing? Can I have a look?"

As she spoke, Adair stood up and took the initiative to approach Lysander, wanting to naturally get closer to him.

She had just moved closer when Lysander raised his head and looked at her.

He did not say anything but stared at her coldly.

Although his face was extremely handsome, his gaze was filled with an intimidating sharpness.

Adair realized she had been too forward, so she shifted to the side slightly.

She explained to Lysander, "I just wanted to see what you guys were playing at. I didn't mean anything else."

Lysander, however, acted as if he had not heard her, continuing with whatever he was doing.

Aubrey sat at the side, looking at Lysander with admiration. "Lysander, you're so amazing. How can you be so good at gaming?"

Lysander did not respond right away and simply gave him a long look. Aubrey was clearly an adult but was acting like a clueless kid. "You're the one who's not very bright." Aubrey, a little defensive, said, "I'm very smart, okay? My IQ is 120!"

Lysander sighed and looked away, clearly unamused and not wanting to continue the conversation.

Adair sat at the side, her gaze fixed solely on Lysander. She turned to Aubrey and asked, "Your brother's fiancée isn't here?"

Aubrey replied, "Why are you asking that?"
