Chapter 139
Lysander looked at Elara's gentle expression and kissed her cheek. "Okay."
Since being with Elara, he had felt his emotions becoming more stable. Spending the night at the Hawthorne house, Elara was not very used to it.
Lysander did not feel like it was his home, and Elara felt the same way.
She still preferred her own house, where she could sleep for as long as she wanted.
Although the family did not say much, she still woke up early with Lysander.
During breakfast, it was just the two of them left.
After closing the door, Wyatt spoke to Lysander about his and Elara's upcoming marriage.
Lysander said, "Elara and I are already getting ready to sign the marriage license. I've filled out the paperwork already." Wyatt nodded. "Alright, we're on break right now. We'll handle it after the holidays."
Lysander nodded in agreement.
Wyatt gave his love-struck son a knowing smile. "You only talk to me this much when it's about Elara, huh?"
It was only when talking about Elara that Lysander opened up, unlike his usual quiet self.
Wyatt's words made Elara feel a little embarrassed. She just lowered her head and focused on eating.
After breakfast, since they each had their own things to take care of, Elara and Lysander left the house.
Elara and Lysander left the Hawthorne family house.
Ursa had already prepared the ingredients for dinner that night.
Back at home, Elara felt a sense of relief.
Barrett had also returned.
Lysander was clearly more relaxed here than he was at his own house.
Elara placed her computer on the table and started typing.
Looking up, she saw Lysander lounging on the couch, completely at ease, a stark contrast to his stiff demeanor when he was with the Hawthorne family.
Elara felt a sudden wave of curiosity.
In her past life, when she had not been with him.
She wondered how he lived when he was in Starfield City. 'Did he get along well with his family at home? Could it be that at Christmas, he was also alone in that house he didn't like, feeling like an outsider?' ""Lysander," Elara said.
Lysander looked at her. "What's wrong?"

Chapter 139
Elara looked at him and smiled helplessly. "Nothing."
Christmas passed by very quickly,
Lysander's holiday ended sooner than he had expected
Elara had not gone to work yet when he left.
Because of his job, the marriage had to go through some formalities.
But he had already started the application process.
After Lysander went to work, Elara returned to the company to continue her own work. When Adair saw her, she no longer walked in front of her with her head held high. Initially, Adair still harbored some fantasies about Lysander, but now, she had none left.
In the afternoon, Elara sat at her desk, listening to Rachel continuing to rant about Marcus. Marcus still had not given up.
Elara admired him.
The office door was open, and someone walked past. "Mr. Blackwood, this way, please."
Elara looked up just in time to see Asher walking past the door. The person escorting him was Alice, who worked with Evelyn as a secretary.
As memories from a few years ago flooded her mind, Elara thought, 'I remember the first time I met Evelyn. Back then, Evelyn had shown a clear interest in Asher.'
She could not help but wonder, 'What's going on now? Why is Asher here?'
Elara sensed a bit of gossip in the air.
Not long after, Alice, who had just brought Asher over, returned.
Elara called out to her, "Alice."
When Alice heard Elara's voice, she walked over and asked, "What's wrong?"
Elara asked, "Did you just bring someone over?"
She hoped she had not seen wrongly.
Even if Asher were to turn into ashes, Elara would still recognize his face.

Alice responded, "Yes, it was Mr. Blackwood from the Linde Group. Ms. Hawthorne is their company's legal adviser. Mr.
Blackwood is here to discuss a collaboration."
Evelyn had a good relationship with Asher's mother, Edith. That was why Evelyn became the legal adviser for the Linde Group
Their development has been improving especially in the past two years. The company also often had disputes, which was normal. Lawyers with connections rarely lack cases or opportunities to make money. However, it just so happened that it was Asher. Elara could not help but think about it.
Chapter 139
It had only been a little more than a year since the day Asher had harmed her in her previous life.
The current Asher was probably not the same person as he was when they were in school. Back then, he might have still had a shred of conscience.
When he was in school, he might still have had a little conscience. But now, he had probably lost his humanity.
Elara wondered if he came to look for Evelyn because he wanted to get involved with Evelyn. Had he finally figured it out and wanted to hook up with a rich woman?
Evelyn was now his mentor... If he were doing that, it would be completely disgusting.
Elara stood up and left the office.
Evelyn's office door was still closed.
Elara went to the pantry to pour herself a cup of coffee. When she returned, she saw Evelyn's office door open. Asher walked
out.
Elara ignored him and went straight into her office.
Asher walked over and stood at the door, looking at her. "So, you work here."
Elara glanced at him but said nothing.
Unfazed by her indifference, Asher continued, "My company will be working with yours a lot in the future. Looks like we'll be seeing each other more often." Elara looked him over carefully. "You've hooked up with someone?"
Asher's face darkened at her words. "Where did your mind go? Do you think I'm that kind of person? Do I really need to latch onto someone?"
Elara saw the indignant look on his face.
It seemed as if she had insulted him by suggesting he had a powerful backer.
'Wasn't he that kind of a person?' She thought.
Asher turned to Elara. "I don't need it to be what you think. Do you understand?"
After saying that, he was so angry that he stormed off.
For some reason, despite being here to discuss work, Elara's question had made him extremely angry.
He had never been with her before.
Of course, he would not look for a rich woman now.
But Elara, in her eyes, was he really that useless.
When they arrived downstairs, Asher had just gotten into the car when Edith called. "Son, I heard you went to the law firm."
"So what?" Asher frowned when he heard his mother's voice.
It had been so long, yet his mother still tried to push him toward Evelyn.
Unfortunately, he probably would not be able to fulfill her wish.

Edith said, "Nothing much I'm just asking how Evelyn has been doing recently. She has a good impression of you. You have to build a good relationship with her. Now, in Starfield City, relationships are the most inant. Do you understand?" Their company was big.
There would always be people looking for trouble now.
There were many people in the same industry who did not like them.
Therefore, she naturally hoped that Asher could win Evelyn's favor.
Asher said, "Maybe in your eyes, only connections can solve problems. You should spend more time with Violet. I have the company's matters under control."
His stepfather was in the hospital now and could not take it anymore.
Most of the company's matters were now decided by Asher.
