Chapter 173

"Are you sure you're fine?" Natalie looked at her with suspicion. "Don't you feel like you're not married? When something happens, he's not even by your side."

Elara smiled. "What's wrong? Even though he's not here with me he helps me handle a lot of things."

Sometimes, when the pressure built up and she wanted to see Lysander, it did make her a little sad that he was not by her side.

But she had already prepared for this before marrying him.

His identity was special, and it wasn't possible for him to always be by her side like other people.

Seeing Elara still smiling, Natalie said, "If you said so. My dad has been trying to set me up recently, even looking for a soldier for me. I don't want that! I don't want to live like you like I'm widowed every day." Elara laughed at Natalie's teasing. "My uncle probably isn't having it easy! The last time he came to my house and had dinner with my dad, he even mentioned you!"

She added, "He was worried you'd never get married and that you'd have no one to look after you in the future."

"I told him I'm doing fine but he's so worried about me." Natalie sighed. "Why do they always think women who don't get married aren't happy? I'm living well. Why do I need a man to make me suffer?" Elara said, "Maybe he wants a grandson!"

Natalie sneered. "Having kids? Impossible! Let me tell you, I have a friend who was good-looking before! Ever since she had a kid, she gained 50 pounds and looks so tired. I don't want that.."

Elara continued eating, listening to Natalie complain. Since both of them were quite busy, they didn't get to meet often.

Today was special because it was to celebrate Elara's confirmation at work, and Natalie specifically arranged this outing for her.

Natalie looked at Elara. "When do you and Lysander plan to have kids?"

Elara replied, "Isn't it a bit too early? You just said having kids was bad! Now you're already urging me to have them?"

Natalie asked, "You've been married for a while now. Doesn't his family pressure you?""

Elara said, "They don't have the time for that. His dad only sees him a few times a year. His aunt also doesn't interfere with his matters."

Speaking of this, Elara thought of Aubrey's mother. She wondered how she was doing.

Feeling a bit worried, after finishing dinner with Natalie, Elara decided to give Felicity a call.

Felicity invited her over to the Hawthorne family.

As Elara walked in the door, she overheard Adair talking to her aunt, Zavala. "Aunt Zavala, do you think if I marry a man -from a family that's not so well-off, will my dad kill me?" Zavala, being experienced, immediately caught on when she heard Adair. "You're seeing someone?"

Adair denied. "No! I'm just saying. I have a friend who likes a man. He's handsome and ambitious. He's great in many ways, but his family situation is a bit average. So I was just asking for advice." Chapter 173

Zavala said seriously, "No! Don't date men from families with poor conditions. Being with them is likely to bring unhappiness. You'll end up with nothing."

Adair argued, "Not necessarily. This guy is really good! He's hardworking."

"That 'friend' is actually you, isn't it?" Zavala stared at Adair with her beautiful eyes, pinning her down.

Adair felt a little guilty under her gaze. "It's not me."

Elara walked in and greeted Zavala. "Hello, Zavala."

Since Elara was already legally married to Lysander, she spent more time with his family.

Even Zavala often came over, sometimes even joining the family group chat.

When Zavala saw Elara walk in, she said, "Elara, you're here!"

Seeing Elara, Adair felt a bit guilty, fearing that Elara might mention her affair with Asher.

Elara nodded. "Yes, I'm just here to check on Felicity."

Zavala replied, "She should be upstairs. She's not feeling well and is resting. I came over to check on her too."

"Then I'll go see her," Elara said and headed upstairs.

Adair stood up and followed Elara. "I'll go with you."

They entered the elevator, and Adair told Elara, "Don't tell anyone about my situation with Asher."

Elara replied, "Don't worry. I'm not that bored.

Adair glanced at Elara, noticing that ever since she married Lysander, she seemed to have become even more attractive.

She sighed. "Well... Now that you're with Lysander, you probably wouldn't dare to fool around outside."

Thinking about this, her resentment toward Elara softened.

Elara looked at Adair with a hint of helplessness. "Just relax. Even if I weren't with Lysander, I wouldn't steal Asher from you. Adair responded, "Alright then!"

Seeing Adair treat Asher like a treasure, Elara recalled Adair's earlier conversation with Zavala. "You're not seriously thinking about marrying Asher, are you?" Adair asked, "What's wrong? Is it not allowed?"

Elara asked, "Has he agreed?"

Adair replied, "Not yet. But he said if we don't get married, he doesn't want to be together anymore!"

Elara was taken aback. She thought it sounded familiar.

She recalled Asher telling her, "What's the point to say you like me? You're not going to marry me! A girl like you is just in it

for fun."

Then, Elara had foolishly shown him her loyalty.

And now, this same tactic was being used on Adair.

Chapter 173

"What are you doing?" Adair asked, puzzled, staring at Elara. "Why do I suddenly feel like your gaze is so scary?"

Elara snapped back to reality. "Nothing, just suddenly remembered something. You should think carefully about marrying Asher. Dating is different from marriage, and marriage is a very cautious decision." Adair retorted, "Enough! I don't need your advice. It's easy for you to say since you're married to Lysander! If I were married to him, I'd be able to say the same things too."

Elara didn't bother with Adair anymore.

She reached the upstairs floor and stepped out of the elevator, but Adair didn't follow her inside. Instead, she gave Elara a disdainful look.

She thought Elara's words were an attempt to stir up trouble between her and Asher.

Adair even started to think that Elara might still have feelings for Asher. After all, she wouldn't have said such things.

When Elara entered Felicity's room, the doctor had just finished and left.

She walked in and saw Felicity leaning against the headboard, holding her head.

"Hello," Elara greeted.

Felicity looked at Elara and said, "You're here. I was just about to go downstairs."

Elara replied, "If you're not feeling well, you should rest. I just came to check on you."

"It's just a headache, nothing serious." Felicity looked at Elara and continued, "I'm happy you're here to visit me. Lysander has been busy with work lately. He must be seldom at home." Elara said, "He came back the day before yesterday."

Felicity asked, "He left again?"
