After Death, Love Unveiled (Elara and Lysander) -
Unveiled 179
Chapter 179
As Jack approached, Elara said, "I dare you to touch me! You don't see me as Emily, do you?"
Smiling at Elara, Jack didn't do the frisk himself. He waved at his secretary, and the latter nodded at him after the confirmation that Elara didn't take any bugs with her. Elara went back to the firm after she left Jack's company.
At the door, she got stopped by Jase. Jase said, "Elara, Hazel wants to see you."
Elara asked, "About what?" Her mentor was Evelyn, and she had learned from the latter for a long time. However, Hazel was her first teacher in this law firm.
Jase answered, "I don't know."
Then, Elara went straight to Hazel's office.
"Elara." At the sight of Elara, Hazel gave a warm greeting. "Take a seat!"
Elara said, "Hazel, it is said that you want to see me."
With his hand, Hazel gestured for Elara to sit down.
After Elara obediently took a seat, Hazel looked at her and said, "I heard that you took Emily's case."
"It is true," Elara responded. "I just came back from Mr. Hacker's company."
"Do you know that Emily lost in the first trial? This case made a huge splash online, and you had better not get into trouble."
"Jack did hurt Emily, didn't he? We can't ignore the truth just because the netizens are on Jack's side, can we?"
"Leave the verdict to the court," Hazel said. "You should start your career with simple cases, and I can give you some if necessary. If you get defeated in this rape case, it will be an awful beginning and a bad record in your career. Moreover, you will get yourself into trouble."
Hazel became good to Elara at the information that she was Ziva's daughter. He saw her as his niece, so he was worried about her because of Emily's case.
Elara explained, "I have thought about this case. I went to see Jack, and he was rude and arrogant. Emily may die of cyberbullying if I don't help her." She knew how helpless and depressing to be misunderstood by others.
After the chat yesterday, she felt that Emily was about to collapse.
"That is why I advise you to give more thought to this case," Hazel persuaded. "What will you do if she goes to the extreme after her second defeat? You are young, and Evelyn intends to leave this firm to you. Therefore, we don't want you to be discouraged by this case at the beginning of your career, and I am afraid you will leave this field because of it."
Elara remained silent.
Hazel added, "You may leave now. Think about my advice, and don't act recklessly. You are young, so there is a long way to go... Don't get stuck here." He understood that inexperienced lawyers like Elara were relatively naive and would become reckless for justice. However, this was a complicated world.
Elara went upstairs after she said goodbye to Hazel. Before Evelyn's office, she knocked on the door and pushed it open at Evelyn's invitation. "Evelyn," she greeted when she was inside the office.

Chapter 179
Evelyn looked up at the visitor and asked, "What's up?"
Elara replied, "I just had a chat with Hazel"
"Oh." Evelyn kept her gaze on her computer.
Silence pervaded the room, so Evelyn had to raise her head and glance at Elara. "Why are you silent?"
Elara said, "I took a case, and the victim is Emily. I came to tell you that."
"Got you. Do what you need to do then."
Elara asked, "Do you have anything to say about this case?" She needed Evelyn's opinion because Evelyn was her mentor.
"I think Hazel has said what I want to." Evelyn leaned back in her chair and looked at Elara as if she had seen through Elara.
Elara asked, "In other words, you agree with Hazel, don't you?"
"Of course," Evelyn responded. "You're a lawyer, not Jesus. How much does Emily pay you to risk your future and reputation?"
"She doesn't have much money."
"If so, why do you get yourself into trouble?"
"I feel sorry for her."
"She is indeed pitiful," Evelyn commented. "However, is she the only pitiful person in this world? There are too many to count, and you can't help all of them, can you?" Elara was lost for words.
Evelyn continued, "People don't cherish whatever is free. In your imagination, Emily will feel grateful to you because you spare no effort to help her. No, she won't!
"She will hate your guts once you lose the trial. Look at Asher! You were good to him, but does he show any gratitude to you? I know that you aren't short of money or time, but I don't want you to get yourself into trouble."
Elara didn't know what to say, and her fingers were unconsciously clasped together for this speech. Moreover, she sobered up at the mention of Asher. 'Perhaps, it was a hasty decision. She thought.
"Well, go and think about it yourself. I won't be in your way if you are determined to take the cake."
Elara left the firm in the afternoon. In the car, she took out her phone for navigation. In the end, she sent a message to Lysander instead of starting the car. [Are you busy?]
There came no instant reply from Lysander.
'He must be busy.' Elara thought. After a deep breath, she started the car.
Driving, she received a call from Lysander. Shortly after her phone rang, she picked it up. "Hello."
Lysander's voice was calm over the phone. "Do you miss me?" It was rare for Lysander to flirt with Elara.
Elara said, "I called to ask if you're coming back for dinner tonight."
Lysander said, "I am out of town to visit Juan. What is wrong?"
Chapter 179
Elara seldom called to inquige about Lysander's schedule as she had a lot on her plate. Sometimes, Lysander would tell Elara in advance of his going home for dinner. Elara said, "Juan? How is she?"
"Her leg is the same as before, but her mental state is a bit better I am on a business trip, so I stopped by to visit her. What happened to you? You may tell me over the phone if you want to "Nothing. I will let you work." Without hesitation, Elara hung up the phone.
Lysander stood at the entrance of the sanatorium.
Crispin asked at the sight of Lysander's knitted eyebrows, "A call from your wife?"
Lysander replied, "Yes."
Crispin said, "Did you two fight again?"
"No." Lysander shot one meaningful glance at Crispin and asked, "You earnestly wish us to fight, don't you?"
