Chapter 189

Lysander spoke, "Someone you don't know is probably here because of Jack."

Elara looked at Lysander, and as soon as she heard Jack's name, she was instantly wide awake. "Is this trouble for you?"

"He wants to meet me for dinner tomorrow," Lysander replied, pulling her close. "Nothing serious, don't worry about it."

Elara couldn't help but care about what others said, especially since Natalie had mentioned it.

The next evening, when Lysander went to meet Sully, he brought Elara along. The meeting location was chosen by Sully. It was Harold's estate hotel.

In the private room, Sully saw Lysander and walked over. "Mr. Hawthorne, hello."

Sully was wearing glasses and looked scholarly, with an air of elegance. He extended his hand to shake Lysander's. Lysander gazed at him and remarked, "Mr. Myerson, you really know how to pick a spot. Inviting me all the way here." "This place is familiar to me," Sully explained. "I know Mr. Jarvis here. I come by sometimes."

Upon mentioning Jarvis, he turned his attention to Elara, who was standing next to Lysander. "Ms. Kensington, hello."

Elara asked, "You know Uncle Harold?"

"Yes," Sully replied. "We've had dealings, but our relationship is fairly casual. I'm not one for mingling much. Please, have a

seat."

He gestured toward the chairs and sat down first. Elara followed Lysander and sat down beside him.

Lysander observed Sully and said, "Mr. Myerson, I've heard that you're known for never leaving room for negotiation. Many of the powerful people in Starfield City have had a hard time with you."

At the mention of this, Sully didn't deny it. "It's simply part of the job, doing what I can to contribute to society."

Sully's position in Starfield City wasn't particularly high, but even the most influential people feared crossing someone like him someone who hadn't been promoted in years and refused to bend. They feared drawing his attention.

On top of that, he had the backing of his father-in-law. Most people were too afraid to make a move against him, which led to a strange situation: everyone disliked him intensely but couldn't get rid of him.

Rumor had it that even Wyatt avoided angering Sully. Anyone else was even less likely to stir up trouble with him.

As Sully spoke, he did so with ease and confidence. Elara watched him closely. He appeared quite ordinary, but his calm, confident demeanor suggested that nothing fazed him.

Lysander broke the silence. "Mr. Myerson, with your poise and elegance, are you here today just to speak up for Jack?"

Sully stared at Lysander for a few seconds without saying a word The two men locked, eyes, and the tension in the room grew palpable.

It wasn't until a knock sounded at the door that Sully finally broke into a smile. "Come in."

The server entered and asked, "Sir, may I bring the dishes now?"

"Go ahead," Sully said.

Elara sat beside Lysander. As she listened to their conversation, she learned that Jack was actually Sully's nephew.

'So, is he causing trouble because of that?' Elara thought, suddenly feeling uneasy.

Sully's composed demeanor made it difficult to read his true intentions. Once the dishes were served, Sully turned to Elara. "This dish is very good. Ms. Kensington, you should try it." "I'm fine, I'll serve myself," Elara replied, uncomfortable with his excessive politeness.

'If there's something he wants to say, he should just say it. It's making me nervous, Elara thought to herself.

Seeing her reluctance, Sully said, "Ms. Kensington, it seems you have some reservations about me. But really, there's no need. I'm here today just to have dinner with the two of you, that's all." "Jack's been arrested. Are you sure you're not here because of that?" Elara asked.

Despite his words, Elara still didn't believe him. She had a nagging feeling that this dinner had some hidden purpose.

Sully replied, "His arrest is his own problem. My sister is quite protective of him, always asking me to help him out. I've turned a blind eye as much as I can, but that's the limit.

"I take full responsibility for not keeping a better eye on him, as I've been too busy with work."

This gave Jack the chance to exploit Sully's name and act recklessly outside.

Seeing Sully's polite demeanor, Elara was slightly surprised. 'So, he's not here to cause trouble? He really doesn't seem like it,' she thought.

Sully turned to Lysander. "Lysander..."

"Shouldn't you address me as Mr. Hawthorne?" Lysander countered, throwing Sully's earlier words back at him.

Sully chuckled. "How are things in the Hawthorne family?"

At that, Lysander's face darkened. "That's none of your concern, Mr. Myerson."

Th

"I was just curious," Sully replied. "You shouldn't have returned to the Hawthorne family. A place like that, what's so good about it? Lysander, your life shouldn't be dictated by Wyatt. "He doesn't deserve to call himself your father. If your mother were alive to see this, she'd Hawthorne family."

Hearing Sully mention Lysander's mother, Elara's heart skipped a beat. 'So, Sully knew Lysander's mother? And more than that... she thought.

Lysander despised it when people brought up his mother in his presence, She was a sacred, untouchable figure in his life. The last time Harold mentioned her, Lysander had been furious for days.

Elara glanced at him now and, as expected, saw his stormy expression. He remained silent, his eyes severe and filled with displeasure. Sully noticed this too.

"If Loffended you, I apologize," Sully said to Lysander. "But I'm simply stating facts. If you're unaware of what happened in the Hawthorne family back then, I can tell you."

"No need," Lysander replied curtly. "If you came here today just to talk about this, you've wasted your time."

"Is that so?" Sully fixed his gaze on Lysander. "What a pity. Your mother endured so much to give birth to you, sacrificing her life in the process, all to ensure you'd escape the Hawthorne family. Tue, Nov 26

At the mention of Wyatt, Sully's expression turned disdainful. Though he seemed like a principled man, his mention of the Hawthorne family revealed a deep-seated animosity.

Lysander replied icily, "My mother passed away many years ago. You're in no position to judge her here."

"She loved me more than anyone," Sully said bluntly. "If Wyatt hadn't used every trick in the book to tear us apart, I would never have been separated from her.

"Lysander, you are her child. Even though you carry the Hawthorne family name, I don't blame you. I understand. You've been misled by Wyatt. But I still hope you'll leave the Hawthorne family."

"I've already said, my life is none of your business," Lysander said coldly.

Sully gave a helpless laugh. "It seems you can't let go of your current status. Poor Yessenia... she gave birth to a son like you. To you, it seems her suffering is worth less than the luxury and power you enjoy in the Hawthorne family."

Sully's earlier polite tone had now turned biting, his words laced with sarcasm. Even Elara felt stung just listening to him. She spoke up, her voice icy. "Mr. Myerson, you've crossed the line." Whatever choices Lysander made were his to decide.
