After Death, Love Unveiled (Elara and Lysander) -
Unveiled 192
Chapter 192
Elara had always known how much Felicity loved Wyatt. Whenever Wyatt wasn't around, Felicity would sulk and cry endlessly. But as soon as Wyatt showed up, it was like Felicity came back to life. Now, Felicity refused treatment for such a reason, and Elara couldn't hold back from speaking the truth.
Felicity looked at her and said, "Elara, I just really don't want to make myself ugly. I've thought about this for a long time, so please don't push me anymore." Elara glanced at Lysander, who was standing by the door. Judging by his expression, even Lysander hadn't expected to hear Felicity say such a thing.

After leaving the hospital room, Elara walked alongside Lysander. Elara had spent ages trying to convince Felicity, but she still wouldn't budge.
Felicity had clearly made up her mind. She didn't want treatment. Elara felt that if she pressed any further, Felicity might break down into tears.
Now, walking with Lysander, Elara sighed. "What do we do? We can't just let her skip treatment because she's afraid of looking ugly. Although... I kind of understand her perspective."
ordeal. People sometimes paniced and lost their composure over minor illnesses, not to Battling cancer was never an easy mention something as serious as cancer.
Even if the eventual outcome might be a cure, the daunting process alone was enough to scare many people off.
Lysander replied, "Let her rest for now. There's no need to rush. If she really doesn't want to go through with it, then so be it."
He had always respected others' choices about such matters. Except when it came to Elara, on that front, Lysander was unwaveringly serious. But for everything else, he remained detached.
Just then, a voice called out, "Hi, Lysander." It was Aubrey. He had just returned from school and rushed to the hospital upon hearing about his mother's illness.
Lysander nodded. "Your mom's in the room."
"How is she?" Aubrey asked, concern evident in his voice. "She's been sick so often lately. Her health is terrible."
"She has cancer," Lysander said flatly. "The doctor wants her to stay in the hospital for treatment. She might need surgery. You should talk to her about it."
Felicity had kept her diagnosis from Aubrey until now. But Lysander, characteristically direct, laid it all out.
Aubrey froze for a moment, stunned by the revelation. His face betrayed a mixture of shock and confusion."I'll go see my mom," Aubrey said, finally recovering.
On his way to her room, he replayed Lysander's words in his head, gradually realizing the gravity of what had been said. Elara turned to Lysander. "You just told him outright? Mrs. Hawthorne didn't want Aubrey to know." Lysander looked at her, unbothered. "Aubrey isn't a child anymore. He's grown up, and he has the right to make his own decisions about these things."
If it had been Lysander in Aubrey's shoes, he wouldn't have wanted to be kept in the dark either. That was why he refused to

join in their efforts to hide it,
Elara stared at him. "Lysander, you're just so..."
"So what?" Lysander asked, raising an eyebrow. "Cold? Heartless? Completely emotionless? Like a machine?" His self-awareness was almost startling.
Elara shook her head. "No, it's just... you're so decisive. Honestly, I think it's kind of attractive."
Lysander smirked. "Let's head back." They visited her and he had helped to arrange the hospital.

He had stayed with her for a while, trying to reason with her. But Felicity remained firm in her decision to avoid treatment. Her reasoning, that she was afraid of looking ugly, was so absurd that Aubrey couldn't help but call Wyatt. The phone rang for a long time before it was finally answered by Wyatt's secretary. "Hello, Aubrey."
"Where's my dad?" Aubrey asked.
"Mr. Hawthorne is busy," the secretary replied.
"Tell him to come to the hospital to see my mom," Aubrey said, glancing at Felicity, who was asleep in her hospital bed.
The secretary hesitated. "Mr. Hawthorne isn't in the best mood right now. It's not a good time to disturb him."
"My mom is sick. She's dying," Aubrey said, his voice tense. "Did you not hear me? Get him on the phone."
Frustration crept into his tone as he thought about his mother's illness. His anxiety was evident as he stood by the window, watching her frail figure.
The secretary glanced nervously at Wyatt, who had been sitting silently, deep in thought, ever since he returned. Wyatt's mood in moments like these made the secretary wary of approaching him, but this time, they had no choice. Aubrey clutched the phone tightly, hearing the secretary relay the message: "Mr. Hawthorne, Aubrey called. He says Mrs. Hawthorne is ill and wants you to come to the hospital."
"She's sick? Then she should call a doctor. I'm not one," Wyatt said coldly, his irritation clear. Felicity's habit of using her illnesses to get his attention had always grated on him. When Wyatt was in a good mood, he could play along. But right now, he simply didn't have the patience for it.
The secretary had no choice but to back off and relay the message to Aubrey. "Aubrey, Mr. Hawthorne..."
Aubrey didn't wait to hear the rest. He hung up abruptly, his grip tightening on the phone. Standing beside his mother's hospital bed, he looked at her sleeping form and suddenly let out a bitter laugh. Even though he knew his father was always busy, Aubrey couldn't help feeling deeply disappointed.
The next day, Elara arrived at the hospital in the afternoon. As she approached, she noticed Aubrey standing at the door, lost in thought. His usual sunny demeanor was nowhere to be found "How's Mrs. Hawthorne doing?" Elara asked gently.
Aubrey lifted his head and looked at her. "She has a visitor. They re inside with her."

Chapter 192
Hearing that someone was with Felicity, Elara didn't rush in. Instead, she stayed outside and studied Aubrey's troubled expression. "You're worried about Mrs. Hawthorne? "Don't be too upset. The doctor said her condition is treatable. It's not terminal."

Aubrey sighed, his frustration evident. "She refuses treatment and won't listen to a word I say. This morning, I was a little harsh with her, and now she's mad at me and hasn't stopped being upset." What Aubrey found most frustrating was his mother's insistence on pinning all her hopes on Wyatt.
Felicity felt misunderstood, even by her own son. Being ill had already put her in a bad mood, and their argument had ended with her in tears, leaving Aubrey feeling terrible.
He wanted to help, and he knew everything he said was for her own good. But Felicity remained stubborn.
"People who are sick often act like that," Elara said. "She's not in a good mood today, so just go along with her for now."

Elara had thought about saying more, but seeing the look on Aubrey's face, she held back. After all, Felicity would be staying in the hospital for the next couple of days. Discussions about treatment could wait until later.
"I understand," Aubrey replied, though his tone betrayed lingering resentment. "But my dad hasn't even come to see her yet.
"I told him my mom was sick, and he just told me to call a doctor. Does he really hate her that much? No matter what, she's still his wife."
Hearing Aubrey bring this up, Elara couldn't help but recall what Felicity had once said to her in private that Aubrey wasn't Wyatt's biological son and that there was no love between her and Wyatt.
These were things Felicity had clearly kept from Aubrey, and Elara didn't think it was her place to tell him.
"I'll ask my dad to come by and visit her," she said, trying to sound reassuring. "Don't worry. He's probably just really busy."
While they were talking, Felicity's visitor came out of the room. It was Adair, accompanied by Asher. Seeing them, Elara surprised but chose not to initiate conversation.
"Hello, Ms. Kensington," Adair said curtly.
Adair had lingering resentment toward Elara, convinced that Elara had been the one to reveal Asher's situation to her aunt.
Were it not for the fact that Elara was Lysander's wife, Adair wouldn't have even greeted her.
