Chapter 202

"Are you out of your mind?" Elara's tone toward him was utterly devoid of warmth.

Asher replied, "Adair told me she came to see you. I already talked to her about it. If something like this happens again, just send her to me directly."

"If this happens again, don't blame me for making things difficult for you," Elara snapped. "We have nothing to do with each other, and yet you can't handle your girlfriend, so she comes looking for me?" She wasn't afraid of Adair, who was nothing short of a lunatic. Elara didn't want to waste her energy on her.

But if Adair caused a scene, and it got back to Lysander, he inight start getting ideas about her and Asher. As a married woman now, the last thing Elara wanted was unnecessary trouble. Asher nodded at her words. "Alright, got it."

He didn't argue with her, acting unusually patient. "But why did you block me? My number's blocked, WhatsApp too. Unblock me."

"You don't deserve to be on my contact list," she said.

Asher sighed. "What about our company's project? Are you just going to drop it? Ms. Hawthorne mentioned that moving forward, all her cases would go to you."

Evelyn served as legal counsel for several companies and had a steady annual retainer for her work.

However, she was looking to ease her workload and pass as much as she could on to Elara. Asher was well aware of this.

Elara said coolly, "Oh, I forgot to tell you. Evelyn's already decided to assign your company's case to Adair. Since she's your girlfriend, it's easier for you all to handle it as a family." "I didn't agree to that," Asher countered.

"That's your problem," Elara shot back. "If you think she's not competent, there are other lawyers at our firm to choose from. But I'm out."

"Fine, fine," Asher said with a cold laugh. "Elara, you're so high and mighty. You're cutting ties with me down to the last penny. How about you stop using your dad's money then?

"Funny enough, I've been doing business with your father lately. Let's see how independent you really are."

Elara smirked. "You don't have the right to interfere. My dad has more money than he knows what to do with. He doesn't need your little contribution.

"If you piss me off, I'll have him cut ties with you immediately. I might even recommend him to partner up with Mr. Hassiron and his group instead. Want to test me?"

Her threat hung in the air. Asher fell silent. Without another word, Elara ended the call.

She headed to the hospital and arrived just in time to see Zavala visiting Felicity.

Zavala sighed. "Adair is completely hopeless. She insists on being with Asher. None of the people I introduced her to could even get a second glance. Her dad was so furious he almost hit her. I had to talk him out of it." When Zavala saw Elara, she smiled warmly. "Elara, I've heard you've been taking care of Felicity at the hospital recently. It's so kind of you. You're such a good, considerate girl, not at all like Adair..."

Chapter 202

At least Elara listened to her family. They told her to marry Lysander, and she did so without complaint Hearing Zavala praise made Elara uncomfortable.

She couldn't help but think back to her time travel and all the foolish mistakes she'd made. She had treated Lysander like an enemy, all because of Asher. And in the end, she paid dearly for it.

Forcing a smile, Elara replied, "You don't have to say that, Zaval Matters of the heart are always hard to predict."

Zavala stood up. "Well, I'd better get going. I have something to bike care of later,"

"Alright," Elara said.

Once Zavala left, Elara sat down.

Felicity, still staring at the door, let out a long sigh. "Another one who's lost her mind over romance. Looks like she's really serious about Asher."

Felicity had initially hoped Zavala could talk some sense into Adair, but it clearly wasn't working. In any case, the Balslev family's affairs had little to do with her. She was barely managing her own affairs as it was. Elara looked at Felicity. "Are you ready to be discharged now?" The doctor had said last time that they needed to observe her for two more days. By now, she was likely good to go.

"They said I can leave," Felicity replied.

Elara asked, "When are you planning to check out? If no one else is available, I can come pick you up."

Felicity shook her head. "No need. Once I'm discharged, I'm not going back to the Hawthorne family. I'll stay at the Norman family home instead."

The Norman family had done quite well over the years. Marcus had managed the household admirably. At least they didn't lack money.

Even if she left the Hawthorne family, it wouldn't make much of a difference. She wasn't Yessenia. Wyatt wouldn't make things difficult for her over the divorce.

"That works too," Elara said. "Just let me know when you're discharged, and I'll leave it at that."

"Thank you, Elara," Felicity said, her voice sincere. "I heard you went out of your way to get Wyatt to visit me. I'm really grateful for that. If it weren't for you, I might still be making a fool of myself." She truly had come to terms with everything. The rest of her days, she just wanted to rely on herself and live well.

When Elara left the hospital room, she ran into Daphne right at the door. Daphne had just come out of the hospital herself. When she saw Elara, she greeted her proactively. "Hi, Elara."

Elara's driver had already pulled up, and she was about to get into the car when Daphne called out, "You're not even willing to say a word to me now?"

"I'm just afraid you'll make trouble for me," Elara replied coolly

"I only wanted to chat because it's rare to see someone I know," Daphne said, fixing her gaze on Elara. "You can't even spare me a few minutes?

"I'm all alone in Starfield City, and when I get sick, I have no one to turn to but myself. I feel like I can barely go on anymore."

Chapter 202

Elara gave her a quick once-over. Daphne looked utterly broken She was a pitiful sight.

Closing the car door, Elara went with Daphne to a nearby restaurant. At this hour, the restaurant was lively. Seated across from Daphne, Elara observed her carefully. Daphne didn't order much. She ate very little, skipped the drinks, and only got herself a glass of water.

"Thank you for having this meal with me," Daphne said to Elara It's been a long time since I've eaten with someone else. I usually just grab something on my own." Elara crossed her arms and scrutinized her. "Do you know why agreed to this meal?"

"Why?" Daphne asked.

Elara smirked. "Because I've never seen you look this pathetic before." She couldn't help but think back to her time travel.

Daphne had once said to her, "You don't have any ability to earn money, and Asher won't support you forever."

They had taken everything from her, enjoying all the benefits that came from the Kensington family's company, while mocking her for being useless.

Now, all she had done was stop being a pushover for Asher and cut off his financial support.

The Daphne who had been so high and mighty in front of Elara's time travel, the Vice President of Blackwood Group, had ended up like this. The irony of it all put Elara in a great mood. Hearing Elara's words, Daphne looked uncomfortable. It was true. Elara was doing well now. Her life seemed infinitely better than Daphne's.

Pressing her lips together, Daphne let out a helpless laugh. "Well, if it makes you happy to see me like this, so be it. I heard you've become a lawyer. That's impressive.

"Back in school, your grades were worse than mine. I... I never thought I'd be so far behind you now."

She didn't blame Elara. She only blamed herself. She didn't have a home like the Kensington family. Whatever Elara did, her father was always there to back her up.
