Awkwardness

It was something everyone experienced at least once, in their lifetime,everyone present in the room currently felt the same as Jade stoodbefore what she assumed were about fifty wolves sitting on the table,ready to have their morning breakfast. It wasn't the fact that she wasjoining them for breakfast at the pack house, It was the fact that therewas no space left for her and Adonis to sit. When she entered everyonegreeted her, acknowledging her presence, but when her eyes searchedfor her seat, she was met with a she-wolf already sitting in her seat.Somehow she wasn't surprised to see that it was Adeena of all peoplesitting in her place, which was supposed to be on the right side ofAdryan, who was sitting at the head of the table.

"Well this is awkward" Brian who sat to the left of Adryan, mumbledunder his breath, but it was heard by everyone present in the room,even though he coughed, trying to cover it up. Violet who was sittingnext to him, smacks him upside the head.

"Thanks for that, Captain obvious,” she says, while Brian rubs the spotshe just hit him on.

Finally not being able to take the silence and awkwardness anymore,Adryan stands up from his seat, and wordlessly he leaves the roomConfusing everyone with his actions, Jade still stood in her spot holdingAdonis" hand in hers. Malia had excused herself to the kitchen themoment they both entered the pack house.

A few minutes later Adryan re-enters the room, but now with a chair inhis hands, when he was about to pass her, one of his hands grabs ontohers, while the other held the chair. He doesn't stop until he reaches hisseat, pushing his chair to the side to make space, he places the chairnext to his at the head of the table.

He goes to sit on his seat, picking up Adonis with him, making him siton his lap as Jade too sat at the chair Adryan had brought in for her toSit.

Warmth spreads through her body at his actions. For centuries thetradition was for the Luna of the pack to sit towards the right of theAlpha male, they never sat together at the head of the table. Adryanwas breaking this so-called tradition in a way. Pack members looked ateach other in shock at their Alpha's actions but they were proud of himnonetheless.

Jade looked towards Adryan and Adonis, who was sitting sideways onAdryan's lap, a smile curving up her lips as she watched Adonis pick theberries Adryan had held for him to take on his palms, stuffing them inhis mouth.

"More Dada" Raising his hand up, asking Adryan for more after a fewseconds. Adonis had started calling Adryan that a few days ago, andthe facial expression on his face was priceless, a mix of happiness andshock, Jade swore that she saw him wipe a few tears away. He hadhugged Adonis to himself, which Adonis returned but after not beingput down after a few seconds, he trashed in Adryan's arms, pointing hishands at his toy, trying to get away.

Jade lifts her face, her eyes taking in the smiles on the pack member'sfaces as they too take in the exchange taking place before their eyesHer eyes catch a familiar face among the seated pack members, Arthursmiles at her when both their eyes meet, and she returns his gesture. Asshe moved her hair gaze away from him she didn't fail to noticeAdeena's eyes on where she sat, with her jaw clenched.

Everyone continued with their morning breakfast, the room filled withthe occasional laughter and chatter filling it, that was until a packmember came barging in as if he had run a marathon, with his hairdisheveled, just with a pair of sweatpants on. It seemed like he hadindeed run to the packhouse in his wolf form and had decided to wearwhatever he got his hands on. Recognizing the male as part of thewolves who were responsible for the daytime border patrol in the pack,Adryan instantly perks up. All previous lightheartedness is forgottenwith the male's arrival.

Adryan stands up, passing Adonis to Jade. By now everyone present inthe room seemed to have sobered up. Feeling the seriousness of thesituation, Adryan asks the male to accompany him to his office in thepack house, wanting to have some form of privacy. He didn't want thepack members to hear what the male had to say, knowing that it wassomething serious and causing them to panic. Jade stands up, passingAdonis to one of the omega standing by, she follows Adryan. Violet,Brian, Nathan, and Arther followed in her footsteps. No one stoppedArther, he was a beta by nature, even if he was pack less, no one daredto stop him.

Everyone filed into Adryan's office, closing the door behind them."What is it, Daniel?" Adryan asks straight away, not wasting time.

"A male from the neighboring pack is at the border, claiming that apack of rogues attacked their pack at dawn, wiping out almost all ofthem, only a handful of them managed to escape. He asked for youAlpha, he said they need your help.” Daniel, the patrol guard speaks up.Adryan takes in his words, "Which pack is he from?" he asks a momentlater.

"The Eclipse Pack, Alpha" at his words, everyone in the room is shocked.The Eclipse Pack was a strong pack, ranking number four in all ofAmerica. So it came across as rather surprising that a mere pack ofrogues were capable of taking out one of the strongest packs in theworld.

"That is not it Alpha. His description of the rogues matches those thatattacked the pack five months ago. Rabid behavior, foaming at themouth, unnatural strength and speed for a normal wolf to possess.”Daniel adds.

Jade had an inkling that the rogues that attacked The Eclipse Pack werethe same that had attacked her pack three years ago. It seemed thatAdryan had the same thought, as he looked at her after processingDaniel's words. Everyone else in the room catches onto the unspokenwords among their Alpha and Luna.

Heaving an exhale, Adryan speaks. "Brian, Nathan, and Arther, arrangeour best warriors to visit the Eclipse pack, and station others at theborder.” turning to Daniel, “Inform the male that he's required toaccompany us in helping bring back the remaining members of thepack here. I'll join you in a minute.” he orders.

"Yes Alpha" with that Daniel leaves the room, along with Arther,Nathan, and Brian.

“Take care of the pack’ Adryan's voice speaks through the mind link theyshared. Jade turns to look at Adryan to replace him already staring back ather, she wordlessly nods her head before Adryan leaves too

"Jade" Violet speaks up, breaking the silence that had engulfed theroom.

"Yes" she turns to face Violet, "help me prepare the rooms for theguests?!” she asks her.

"Sure" Jade replies immediately, flashing Violet a small smile.
