Chapter 14

I make it to the restroom and throw up whatever I had left from the night before. Malachi comesrunning in after me to see me holding onto the trash can for dear life. I wipe my mouth with theback of my hand and look up at him. "I'm fine. It's probably a bug that's going around.” I say. Heleans against the door frame giving me a slight smile. "I'll go get some soup and ginger ale to settleyour stomach.” Malachi offers, helping me from the floor. I walk to the sink to brush my teeth whileMalachi goes to get dressed.

Once settled, I walk to the living area and sit on the sofa, picking up a pillow. I hold it tight like I'm akid, and it's my favorite teddy bear. Malachi comes to me and kisses my forehead. "I will be back,Luna. You need to rest so you can get better." He encourages. "Thank you for taking care of me," Itold him. "I love you, Chloe. I would do anything for you," he declares, grazing my cheek lightly withhis fingers, then he walks to the door.

I turn on the TV, watching the news when my phone rings. It's Amelia. "Hello? I answer. "Hey, Chloe!What happened to you last night? Amelia asks. I knew she would notice I was missing. "I'm sorry. Ileft without saying a word, I got sick and Malachi brought me home.” I explain. "Oh my! I'm so sorryyou don't feel well. I wish I could have seen you before we left for our honeymoon,” Amelia states. "Iknow me too, but you will have fun. I'll be here when you get back. I love you and enjoy your time.Don't worry about me. Malachi is taking care of me,” I assure her. The last thing I want is for her tobe worrying about me on her honeymoon. "Okay, I love you too. Take care of yourself, bye." Shesaid before hanging up.

When the call ends, there is a knock on my door. I walk over and open it, thinking I will replace Malachi,but instead, I replace Alaric standing in my hallway. I jumped back in surprise. "Hello, Chloe," he sayssweetly. "How do you know where I live?" I question "I have my ways gorgeous,” he says with awink. "You need to leave. Malachi will be back soon," I say, hoping that will get him to leave, but hedoesn't budge.

"Why are you here?" I ask. "I wanted to see how you were doing since last night, and I wanted toapologize for scaring you,” he admits. "You don't scare me. Now leave," I demand. “I see why mybrother likes you. You're not afraid to speak your mind,” He smirks "Yeah, and I'm not afraid to slamthe door in your face either. Goodbye, Alaric!" I say as I slam the door in his face. I walk back to thesofa and sit back down, unnerved by the fact that Alaric knows where I live. I turn on a movie topass the time, in hope of relaxing before Malachi gets back.

About 30 minutes later, Malachi walks in holding bags. He puts the groceries away, and I walk upbehind him, wrapping my arms tightly around his torso. He turns around to face me. "I was gone forlike an hour. Did you miss me that much?" He smiles. "Yeah, I did," I sigh with a cheesy grin. Malachislides his hands to my ass and lifts me onto the counter and nestles in between my legs. "Luna, Ineed to tell you something,” he starts, and I look at him, tilting my head slightly to the side inconfusion. "Everything okay?" I ask concerned. "I don't know what Alaric is trying to do, so I needyou to be careful,” he warns. "I promise I'll be careful. I won't trust Alaric.” I assure him.

"Alaric killed his mate's father, and for that, his mate left him and never returned. When it was timeto announce our new Alpha, it was supposed to be Alaric, but he was not in his right mind, so myfather

granted the Alpha to me. And now that I have a mate, I think he wants revenge because that's theonly way he could hurt me," he admits, his features darkening before he gains control. “So, he wantsto kill me?" I ask. "I'm not sure what his plans are, but I won't let anything happen to you, Luna." Heswears with a reassuring smile. "I'm not afraid I know you will always keep me safe,” I admit, runningmy fingers through his hair and looking into his eyes. "I love you, Malachi! and I trust you with mylife," I declared with a smile.

Malachi picks me up from the counter and twirls me around. We both start laughing, and he carriesme to the couch. He sits down with me straddling his waist. “Are you trying to get lucky?" I ask,laughing. "Maybe," He smirks. "Well, I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but I have to get ready, and youneed to go to a meeting,” I say, resting my forehead against his. "I can make it fast," He says,laughing. I laugh and smack him lightly on the shoulder. "Go silly. I have to get in the shower," I tellhim and stand from the couch as he groans in protest.

"How do you expect me to leave when you say you're getting naked?" He asks with a grin. "BadAlpha," I tease like I'm disciplining him. He gets up from the couch, walking toward me, and pressesa soft kiss to my lips. "Go on a date with me tonight, Luna?" he asks with a sigh. "Of course, myhandsome Alpha.” I smile and he kisses me one more time, then walks out the door.

I step out of the shower and dry off, then I pull my bra and panties on. I brush my teeth, then I putsome moisturizer on and head to my vanity. I put on some mascara and lip balm before I pull myhair to the side in a braid. After I'm done, I go into my closet to get some clothes for the day,choosing a black shirt with gray sweatpants and I head to the kitchen.

I take a seat at the island to call Kali. It rings a few times, and then she picks up. "Hey, Aunt Chloe!"she answers. "Hi Kali! How are you and the baby doing?" I ask. "I'm okay. I had an appointment thismorning to replace out the gender!” She says excitedly. "Really? That's amazing! What are we adding tothe family girl or boy?" I ask happily. "Well, I kind of knew the whole time because mom explainedhow she felt with us girls when she was pregnant. The morning sickness has been so bad, well it'sreally all-day sickness," she laughs. "Oh yeah? So, it's a girl?" I ask with the biggest smile. Then mymind starts to think about her words. “Kali just said she felt sick all the time, and Malachi and I havenever used protection.’ My eyes grow wide. “No way! I can't be.’ I think, starting to panic.

I was taken out of my thoughts when I noticed Kali was yelling at me through the phone. "AuntChloe!!?? Hello? Are you there?" she asks. "I'm still here, sorry,” I apologize, trying to mask the worryin my voice. "Well, I have to go. Mom needs my help downstairs. I hope to see you soon.” She says."I think I'll be coming to see you in the next week or so," I tell her. “That would be so great!" Shesays. We say I love you. And hang up.

With shaky hands, I dial my doctor's office to make an appointment. "Good Morning, Dr. ToddBloom's Office,” The receptionist says. "Hello, I need to make an appointment. Do you haveanything available today?" I ask, crossing my fingers "Yes, we can get you in at 2:45. Does that workfor you?" She asks. "Yes, that's fine.” I say, thankful for my luck at the moment. "What will we beseeing you for?" she asks. I can hear her typing on her computer on the other end. "Pregnancy test.”
