Chapter 22

Chloe POV

Alaric rushes at me after he tosses me on the bed. He sits on top of me, trying to grab my hands,but I won't go down without a fight. I throw a left hook at his jaw, leaving him stunned for a second.It gives me time to run for the door, but before I can reach it, he trips me by kicking my feet outfrom under me. I flip over to guard myself, but he grabs my hair, almost ripping it from my head."Let me go, bastard!" I scream. He slaps me. I spun back around with as much force as I could andpunched him right in the eye. He stumbles back, holding his eye, and I charge at him to knock himdown. I get him to the ground and get on top of him, throwing punches as hard as I can. He getspissed and shoves me backward, and I hit my head on the floor. The room spins for a second, so hegets the upper hand, grabbing me and picking me up in the air. He throws me across the room, andI hit the wall with such force the wind gets knocked out of me, but I don't give up, I drag myself offthe floor to face him.

"You have a lot of fight in you, Chloe. You would make a perfect Luna,” He declares. "I am not strongenough to beat you, but if I'm going to die, I'm going to fuck you up the best I can," I say, grittingmy teeth and then I charge at him again, knocking him into a nightstand. He tumbles backward,flipping over it. I try to run for the door again but he gets up quickly and he jumps at me, tacklingme. He grabs me by the neck with fury in his eyes. "I'm tired of this game. Now, let's get to the pointshall we," He says, grinning.

He pulls out a knife, and my eyes go wide. “He is going to kill us.” Alaric holds me down on the floorand I can't move. He's too strong. He brings the knife over his head and slams it into my stomach. Ilet out a scream that would haunt anyone.

Malachi's POV

I rush up the stairs bursting through the door to replace Alaric standing over Chloe's body. He lookssurprised that I am here. He backs away from her. My eyes look over her body and I see she hasbruises

and blood all over her face, but there is also blood everywhere around her. I feel like a demon takesover me, and I turn to Alaric

"Now, we are even brother. Mate for a mate,” He says, smiling. “You're Dead,” I say in a low growl. Idon't give him time to react. I rush at him, slamming into him so hard we end up going through thewall into the next room. I stand and throw a punch so hard blood splatters across the wall. Hestands looking dazed, so I grab him around the throat, squeezing tightly. I have so much rage that Ican hear his bones crack from the pressure of my fingers digging into his skin, then I rip his throatout. Alaric falls to the floor; I don't even give it a second thought, and I rush to Chloe's side."CHLOE??!!" I yell, hoping she will open her eyes but no response. I pick her up, carrying her out ofthe house. She is slumped against my chest when her head falls back. "The baby?" She says faintly.She's alive! I have to get her to the hospital now. The pack comes running in their human forms."CHLOE!!! No!" Amelia screams. "We have to get her to the hospital,” I tell them. Paul hot wires acar close to us and I get in the back with Chloe in my arms, while Paul and Amelia get in front."GO!" I snap. Paul rushes to get to the hospital.

As we're pulling in, I get out of the car running into the emergency. "HELP!! HELP!! SHES DYING" Idesperately yell. The doctors and nurses rush over with a hospital bed, and take Chloe, but thenurse stops me "I'm sorry. You will have to wait here,” She tells me. I growl at her, ready to throw herthe fuck out of my way when Paul walks up behind me, putting his hand on my shoulder. He calmlyguides me to the chairs in the waiting room

"We need to let the doctors help her,” Paul tells me. I look at him, and I know he is right, so I sit,putting my head in my hands shaking my legs rapidly. I get too anxious, so I stand walking to avending machine nearby. I punch it so hard it moves a few feet—everyone in the waiting roomstares in shock. "I'm sorry he is having a rough day,” Paul says, so they won't question how I didthat, but they keep staring at me. "WHAT?!" I growl and they all abruptly turn away.

It's been hours since they took Chloe back and I've been pacing the waiting area while Ameliasleeps on Paul's lap. "Malachi, you need to stay calm,” Paul whispers. "How? I could lose her," I say,leaning against the wall. “I need to call Chloe's family," I state. "What will you tell them?" Paul asks."That someone attacked her at the airport,” I say. I know it sounds stupid, but her family needs toknow. I bring out Chloe's phone and dial her sister.

"Chloe! Thank god! What took you so long? I've called a million times!” Her sister says exasperated."Um Marley, I'm Malachi, Chloe's fiancé, something has happened. Chloe's in the hospital. She wasattacked at the airport,” I explain. “What?!” she gasps. "We are waiting for the doctors to come out.When I know more, I will call you," I tell Marley. "I will be on the first flight out,” She says, crying."Please wait. I don't want you to fly out and leave your family. I can take care of Chloe,” I tell her."You promise you will call me with any news?" She asks. "Yes, I will let you know everything,” Ideclare. "Okay," She says hesitantly, then hangs up.

I walk to the window, looking out at the city lights. “Please, Chloe. Don't leave me. I need you. I can'tlive without you. Please, Moon Goddess, don't take my Luna away. I promise I will never let her outof my sight again and never let anyone hurt her again.’ I plead, but I get pulled out of my prayer byPaul.

"Malachi, the doctor is coming.” He tells me. "Are you the girl's family?" The doctor asks. "I'm herfiancé,” I tell him. The doctor looks between all of us. "She has lost a lot of blood, but she is in stablecondition. She is fortunate to be alive if you didn't get her here when you did, she would not havemade it." The doctor explains. I feel relief. "You can see her in about an hour and she needs to wakeup," He says.

"Wait! What about the Baby?"...
