Chapter 18

RENWICK

We ran when we saw them get taken. I’m ashamed to say we did, but we had no other choice. We need to get help before we attack again. Thorin, Collin and I went back to the village and immediately went to the Alpha.

Explaining what happened. The Alpha immediately called a meeting with all the remaining Alphas of the village since some of them returned to their own places after the run was over. I was the one to explain what happened and what it looked like they used.

I didn’t think there was anything that could take down an Alpha but they managed to do it twice. Krisna was taken so easily and I wonder if they had a tracker on her, or if they used some sort of spell to replace out exactly where she was.

The Alpha wanted to make a strategy but the one thing on my mind was my father. We needed to talk to him as much as this was not the plan. He may have answers that we don’t know about.

“Thorin, we need to go back.” He looks at me and understanding is there.

“What are you talking about?” Collin interrupts.

“None of your business.” I snarl at him. I don’t want him knowing.

“If it will help OUR mate.” He makes sure to enunciate our mate, making sure he digs it in more that Krisna is our mate.

“We could use him.” Thorin points out.

“Fine.” I run a hand in through my hair snagging some tangles, letting me know I havent brushed my hair recently. “My father is the one who killed Krisna’s parents, but he was the one that was mated to the red witch. We didn’t know he lied about being the mate to her mother, he made everyone believe it.”

Everything that day is still sort of a blur for me. I remember waking up and hearing my father talking to someone. I snuck around and I got to see the witch. She was pleading with my father to take her. She wanted him to think of the possibilities that she would be a better mate then the wolf, but my father just wanted stronger shifters.

“We can leave in the morning.” I say to them not wanting to go back and deal with the man I had come to despise. He didn’t know about our plans to leave after the wolf trials. We hadn’t told him, because he was a bitter brutal man anymore.

“Are you sure he will give us the answers?” Thorin asks with worry in his voice.

“We won’t give him the option.” I have tonight to figure it out.

“What about this?” Collin reaches inside his slacks and pulls out what looks like a needle. “This was dropped and I managed to grab it before we fled the city.” It is one of the weapons they were shooting at us. It was to prevent us from shifting.

We could use this for my father and paralyze him enough to get him to talk and tie him up if needed. I hate thinking about doing this to him but I can’t say he doesn’t deserve it. Learning more about what happened is making me realize how much bullshit he caused because he wanted to keep the race pure and take the chance to have stronger wolf babies.

“Damn that is genius.” I say to Collin. “We can keep him from shifting and it will make him confused so we have to make sure we keep him that way.”

“I wonder if there is a way to make it into doses.” Thorin whispers. “If we can just keep poking him with it without letting all the liquid out at once we can manage him fine.” He sits down on the bed and it doesn’t escape my notice that we are in Ruse and Krisna cabin. The smell of her so strong in the air that it is taking all of me not to sniff her sheets.

We have time to think this through. For now I need to go talk to the Alpha. I need to prepare them in case we are unable. They need to know what we seen and what to expect. We leave to head back to the Alpha’s home and we wait until he comes to let us in.

Once inside I see some of the other Alphas in the home, each of them at the table and some sprawled in the living room, everyone is talking and hearing bits and pieces of the conversations around me, I hear the hurt and confusion on how this happened, the fear of if they are going to come back or not.

Some are even planning their return home, while others want to storm the Redland City. “Everyone please settle down. Three of her mates are back. Please give them attention.” Ruse and Collin father must be an excellent primary Alpha since everyone stops speaking and gives him the attention that he asked for. Makes me sad for a moment. I thought my father would be great and he’s not and I thought that I would be headed to a new land to start my own village.

Never having to talk to a room full of Alpha’s I am a little nervous, but I manage to to keep my voice loud and steady. “First thank you Alpha Torch, I want to say that firstly I don’t think they will be coming back. They took who they wanted.” I swallow hard “My mate and a few of my mated family.”

It feels like glass going down my throat. I feel weird saying it and feel even weirder knowing how much I don’t want that statement to be true whenever I think of Krisna. A small of me twinges with the knowledge that I have a part of me that feels whole knowing who my mate is and happy to have her.

“What do you mean?” An Alpha asks.

“Meaning they were after the first female Alpha in decades and they got her with a some type of non shifting magic. I am planning on going to my home and seeking answers before I return to try to save my mates.”

“How do you know where they are?” Another asks.

“Krisna wanted to try and to save her other mates and we followed her. Once outside the city she was ambushed and taken. They used a powerful spell which we now know a warlock is in there. He was able to contain her with a spell and the darts used to prevent her from shifting.”

A tall Alpha male stands and looks at me with a face that can only meant for someone he disrespects. “What you’re saying is you ran like a pup and left your mate to be captured and Moon Goddess only knows what else.”

He doesn’t bother to hide the judgement and it irks me that it hits true. “We had no choice. We were able to leave and come back and inform everyone.”

“Thank Moon goddess you have a better Alpha leading your pack, she went and tried to fight for her other mates.” An Alpha from the back comments.

“F**k you.” The anger rushes so quickly I don’t have time to think about what I say before it flies out. “I am going to get them I need help and we need answers. I am planning to come back in one week travel time and hopefully we know more.”

Alpha Torch steps forward. “What answers do you seek?”

I turn to look at him. “My father was the Alpha who killed Krisna parents but he also was the one who was mated to the Red witch mother and denied her because he was told that Krisna’s mother would give him stronger pups. I want to know more about the prophecy and see if there is any information that he hasn’t told us.”

“I think that it is a great idea. We will be waiting here and try and replace a defender against the darts and when you come back hopefully we will have something. Collin is going with you correct?”

“Yes, he is.” Alpha Torch smiles and I notice how easily he calmed the brewing storm with the Alphas in the room. “We leave in the morning.” I sit giving the the floor to someone else and spend the next few hours going over everything and listening to which Alphas are headed home and which are staying to help.

Krisna

My body is killing me and trying to think through it is hard. Every part of me is begging to reach out to my mate but the one logical part of my brain that I still can access is not letting me, knowing this is exactly what the Red witch wants.

“Are you okay?” Alore whispers to me. My body is demanding satisfaction and not touching my mates is getting worse by the day.

“Do I look okay?” I growl at him. He put me in the mess and the more I am not mating the angrier I get. Female wolves need to mate when they shift and they need to mark their mates. It doesn’t escape me that I may not have ever met Alore to finish my mating even had I not ended up here.

I may not have even had four of my mates and when I get out of this I know Renwick and Thorin will run. I feel like I am sinking and being here is making my wolf restless.

“Krisna, let me help you. Not mate with you but help with a release.” Alore moves closer to me and keeps steady eye contact. “You don’t have to touch me but I can help.” At this point my mind is on a fritz with him being so close and seeing my other mates in the cell across from me. I know it could help but I am so angry at him and don’t want to give in.

“No get away from me.” I shove him back from me. Hating the moment the feeling that I touch him my skin feels tingling.

“Kris, I know you don’t want to hear it but maybe it will give your body enough release and help you think.” Ruse voice reaches out to me as pain hits me so badly it nearly blinds me.

“Why would you even suggest that?” I yell to him.

“Because my love I know you’re hurting and right now there is nothing that any of us can do, but Alore can help.” My heart, Ruse never raises his voice at me and he is always trying to make sure I am okay. He always thinks of me first.

I turn to look Alore. He is sitting on the bed looking at Ruse. I’m sure like me is seeing the reason for why he would be asking me to let Alore help me. Ruse is always one that carries his heart on in everything he does and for a moment I push past the pain and think clearly. He is right and as much as I hate to admit it and give in to the l**t in my body I need to allow him.

“Fine.” I grit out through clenched teeth. Alore stands and for a moment he looks around the cell and I watch him think for a moment before he whispers some things and the entire cell is bathed in darkness.

No one can see in and we can’t see out. “I thought this would make you feel better. Not even my mother could penetrate this.” He holds his hand out and I stand. “Just let me help you little wolf.” The endearment should piss me off but it makes me smile. He is still my mate and him touching me makes me feel fuzzy.

Standing I move over to him, and he touches me softly pulling me closer. His lips meet mine and every hurt in my body slowly starts to ease away. Its like a dark cloud moving away from me as he presses himself against me harder.

This feels better then I want it to when I know that this is exactly giving into her. “This is it Alore.” I make sure he knows that this is not going to go all the way.

“I understand, now stop thinking so much.” His lips crash against mine stealing the air from my lungs as the desire in my body heats up to a almost uncontrollable level. His hands travel down my sides and wrap around my back to my a*s and squeezes.
