THORIN

“You’re a disgrace.” Rens father spats at us as we again try to figure out what is happening here.

“Just answer the damn question.” Renwick spats at his father. I can hear the anger rising in him and his father. The problem is our Gamma’s have been kidnapped and his Gamma is unaware of where he is. There is there is two very angry men here and only one with the ability to shift.

“Just answer the question.” I snap getting irritated.

”F**k off and wait until your father replaces out what you have done.” My father is another Alpha and I know he would be very pissed seeing me doing this.

“Dad, please just tell us. I’m telling you, we need the information to get Juniper and Kale back.”

“You never told me why they were taken in the first damn place. What would the witch want with a Gamma and a Delta male?” Ren is trying his best to not speak to his father about what actually happened. He is not sure what his father would do.

Telling him could be bad or it would give us the answers we need. Though he does think that Krisna is dead. That day when we ran back, we told him that we beat her and that she was not moving, which was true, but we all felt so guilty that we left her.

I motion Renwick to the side. When he walks over, I lower my voice. “Ren, there is not much left of this stuff, he will be able to shift soon, maybe we should tell him and see what kind of reaction we get from him, going off that we may be able to see what kind of shit we are in.”

Renwick stays silent for a moment and thinks about what I said. When his hand drags through his long black hair, I know that he is stressing himself out and becoming anxious. He’s made his decision in his mind, but now he is worried about the follow through.

“Do you think this is a good idea?” Renwick looks at me with uncertainty in his eyes.

“I don’t know what is the right answer here but we need to do something.” I really don’t know what to do and this is the only thing that makes sense.

Ren turns to his father. “The red witch took Krisna and her other mate. She is the first female Alpha in decades.” Ren lets that sink in to his father’s brain. I see the moment the information makes sense in his brain.

“You have to be f*****g kidding me. Krisna is still alive. First of all, you said she was dead. Secondly, even if she wasn’t, how is she tangled up with you?” He pauses a moment before realization again hits him. “Wait, you said her other mates. Which means she is your mate. You have the opportunity like I did to breed pure b***d strong shifter wolves and you f**k it up.”

“You say this to me like you weren’t the one who killed her pregnant mother and your supposed best friend.” Ren snarls at him.

“Damn boy, I knew you were pathetic and stupid, but I didn’t know how deep it really went. You got it from your mother.”

A moment later, Ren’s eyes shift to that of his wolf. Ren’s mother is a sore topic for him. She choose his father again and again, even knowing what he did. She said that Ren’s father was her true mate and that being away from him would kill her.

I move in front of Ren and make sure he is looking at me. I don’t know how well this will work but I am usually able to get through. “Calm down and talk to him, don’t think of everything else.”

Renwick turns around and glares at his father. “Tell me what happened that day.”

The smile his father gives him is one full of malice. “First you tell me something.”

“What.”

“Does the witch have a child?” His father says with a smile in his voice.

“Yes.” I say before Ren does. I want to see his reaction.

“Well, good for her. She is doing something about her legacy.”

Ren sighs and moves in front of his father. “Please, just tell me what is going on.” I hear the plea in his voice.

His father looks at him and while his face doesn’t show emotion, he decides to tell him. “I met the previous red witch when I was younger, before the wolf run. She came to me and told me she was my true mate. She said that together we could have a line of the most powerful mixed breed of shifter who held the power.”

“You knew her before you knew you were an Alpha?” Ren asks.

“I did. I also knew her before I knew your mother. Her offer was tempting, but I did not believe that shifters should be with someone outside of wolves. Had I done it, you would have been powerful, and I regret the decision every day.” He looks down before he looks at me. “The witch offered me a deal. She told me of another wolf that was capable of conceiving powerful, full-blooded wolves. She was mated, but the witch said she could make it happen for me if I gave her a child.”

“She wanted you to give her a child?” I ask in complete shock.

“Yes, she wanted me to be with her to gain a child. She wanted me to mate her and mark her, but she knew deep down that I would never, so she tried to negotiate with me. She told me the name of Krisna’s mother and I instead took the information with me. Two days later, I met your mother and rejected her.”

He falls silent again, and a question pops into my head. “If she was your actual mate, how were you able to stay away from her?”

“It was like stabbing myself in the chest with a knife when I rejected her. Every day was painful and it was like constant shards of my heart would die, but eventually I managed to tell myself and my wolf that she was not the one and we were not taking her. The mate bond eventually died and went to the back of my mind. Also having Ren’s mother helped.”

“F**k.” Renwick paces the floor and as he does I start to see Renwick’s father’s eyes shifting. He is gaining the ability to shift.

“Ren, we need to move.” I point to his father. I’m glad we got the back story and now I understand why the witch really wants Krisna. She wants a magical wolf shifter baby who could basically be a marvel to the world.

“Why?” Ren looks at me and I point to his father. His eyes are the color of gold now letting his wolf creep in. I don’t want to be here if he shifts and since he is able to, his link with his pack is now back and they will be on their way.”

“Fine lets move.” Ren leaves his father tied up and together we leave the area. We need to head back to Alpha Torch’s village and hopefully gain some sort of plan.

Alore

Aplan is what I need and the only thing I can think of is getting Alana to come down here and open the door for us. That may not even work because my mother has magical barriers, which I can get through if Alana opens the door.

“What you are saying is that you have no idea if it will work?” Ruse whispers looking over at a sleeping Krisna. I see the desperation in his eyes to touch her and I feel bad for them because soon my mother will up her plan if this doesn’t happen with her soon.

“I don’t know. My sister is finicky. She loves and hates my mother and if my mothers plan makes sense to her then she won’t help us.” Ruse leans against the cell and I watch him for a moment. Kale and Juniper are sitting with their backs against the glass listening to the conversation.

I want to know everything about him and Krisna. How they met and how she really is as a person. He is the one in here that has seen her in her most vulnerable and got to genuinely make her laugh. I bet her smile without the stress is incredible.

I don’t ask him, because a part of me doesn’t feel right asking him. “Her guard, does shifts here when she is here so the next time he is here I will tell him I want to see her.” What I don’t tell them is that this plan may have gone to shit, anyway. My mother is powerful and I don’t know if she thought to install a listening spell.

We fall quiet again until Juniper speaks up. “What is she like?” Incredibly, he is okay with asking him that. I don’t because my mother is the reason she and they are here, so even though I am a mate, I don’t feel right.

Ruse smiles as he looks at her again, not bothering to disguise the longing in his tone or his eyes. “She is incredible. Her laughter lifts your spirit and the way she loves is like being bathed in the sun’s warmth.”

Everything he said sounds so incredible. That is the type of love I have searched for forever. I imagine what she and I would look like at a picnic and her pregnant belly while she carries our child. It doesn’t even have to be mine. I read all about shifters and what they are like. They are a strong family unit and the female is the main center for them.

The door opening to the lower level has me straightening up. My father walks in and I see the light sadness in his eyes. I know he doesn’t like this, but he loves my mother.

“Son.” He says to me. Walking closer. Krisna wakes and straightens up, looking between my father and I.

“Father.” I say to him, He and I have always had a bond that was unique.

“I know this is not ideal, but you have a chance to create something magical and have something completely unique that no one in our family ever has before. You have a wolf shifter as a mate.” He looks at Krisna and the males in the other cell.

“And you are allowing mother to force this, do you think she will love me after this is over?” I didn’t mean to say that out loud but he is making this into something that should sound good but doesn’t.

“Alore.” He moves closer to the cell, looking at only me, and it amazes me that he is able to block everyone else out. “You have the chance to have a love that is nothing like you have ever experienced, all your mother wants is for you to impregnate the wolf.”

“She could have let me try to woo her like a man and then wait for grandbabies.” I snap at him.

“Yes, but you read shifter history. You excelled at it in school. The females tend to mate with the Alphas first in heat and then down the line. We weren’t sure she would even accept you as a mate since a wolf was able to turn down the bond before.”

“You think kidnapping me and my mates will force me to mate with your son?” Krisna is pissed and I can see her eyes shift to that of her wolf. My father, however, calmly looks at her. His face almost in awe.

“I do think that it will ensure it. You see my wife is only going to wait for so long before being patient is not how my wife is. I’m surprised that she hasn’t already come down here.” My father crosses his arms, unfazed by the danger in Krisna’s eyes. Turning back to me, he looks at me. “I don’t want this for you, any of you but I am trying to warn you about your mother.”

“Just let me out, dad.” I call him dad hoping to reach past the heart only for my mother. “It’s not too late to do the right thing.”

“Son, you know I always want what is right for you and this is the right thing for you.” He slowly backs away and Krisna moves closer.

“Please let us out. I will take Alore with me. I’m not like the other wolves. I won’t shun him.” I can hear the anger in her voice, but also the desperation.

“No, the best decision for you wolf would be to mate with my son and try to conceive.” My father starts to walk away when the realization hits.

“You aren’t planning on letting us go once she is pregnant, are you? Mother wants the baby.” My father pauses before he continues to walk, not bothering to answer or turn back, but that pause was enough to confirm my suspicions. My mother wants the child. She wants to make sure that Krisna has my child and she can safely take the baby, which means she would have to kill us all to make sure we don’t come for her or the baby.

“She is going to kill us, you know that, right?” Juniper says from the other side of the cell. His eyes meeting mine and all I can do is nod. I didn’t think my mother was capable, but I also think that she thought I would go along with her plan.

“We will figure this out and I will get us out of here.” I say, not really knowing how, but Alana is going to be the one person that I have left in my corner. My father was right about one thing and that is my mother will not wait for us much longer. She is going to do something drastic and once that begins, she will lose the little relationship she has left with me.

“I hope so, and I want you to know if she hurts them. When I get out of this cell, which I will somehow, I will kill her and anyone who helped to hurt them.” Krisna growls at me.

“I won’t stop you.” I sit down on the bed and fall silent. My mother was not very smart but very smart at the same time. Either way, she is playing with fire. She took both Gamma males. One is Krisna’s and one is still not linked to her fully, but is her other Alpha males Gamma.

Gamma’s calm the Alpha and without either of them being just that to their Alphas, she will be facing two very angry, uncontrollable Alpha wolves. Then there are the two Beta wolves that are her mates and the Delta who is fully mated to her. It is dangerous to even touch that male with her near him.

The problem is my mother is powerful, so knowing the outcome is not something I am looking forward to.
