Lena's POV

Ever since I was questioned, I feel like I am being watched. I would've probably been caught by surprise if Korey hadn't informed me that she had been taken to be interviewed and I was next. I had time to think up what I would say as I was escorted to the interview room. I know I had done well; if I hadn't, then I would have been put in a cell. It would have all been over. I have been getting the feeling of being watched. Every time I looked around, no one was looking at me or acting suspiciously.

I needed to call Paxton and update him on what happened. I'm not going to tell him that Jana shot anyone because I don't know for sure that she did. It was just a rumor right now. I do know that we can't do this without her, and she needs to get the hell out of here. She will be Paxton's problem from now on, and I couldn't care less about it. We have to have help to make this happen. I know I can't do it without her and Anika's help.

I am more nervous about having to go see the Dark Witch. Jana is scared of her. If Jana is scared of her, then I am terrified to deal with her. Plus, the amount is too high. I already know that Paxton is going to balk at it. This is the part that I hate. I have to be the one to speak to Jana. I also have to be the one to speak with Paxton. I have to deal with them getting pissed off by what I am telling them. When I asked Paxton for either money or to take Jana in, he was pissed about what I had asked. He knew without their help, he couldn't get what he wanted. I headed to the gate and played twenty questions about where I was going when I left the pack. Security had been higher since Paxton had come here demanding we return his pack members. I answered all his questions, and he patted the roof of my car to let me know I could go. I watched behind me for the next five miles to ensure I was not being followed. I had put a bag under my seat, and I would return with it in my passenger seat, as I had told them I was leaving to go get a dress for the Luna ceremony.

I knew that everything I did would be scrutinized from now on. I had to make sure that I was only gone for a short time. I knew that now that I had been interviewed when the kidnapping occurred, I would be the number one suspect. That means I can only help them get the third person to the wall, and I would come back quickly. I did know that I needed to wear another dress over mine. I wouldn't be getting picked up by the cameras on the top of the walls.

It didn't matter if Anika and Jana did. They were leaving here with them. I would stay here, and I couldn't afford to get caught. Especially not when I was close to achieving my dreams of being with Jaxon. I won't let anything get in my way. If I need to see a dark witch, I will. But I won't be happy about it. I went to park in my usual place and made the call. No one was near me, and I could talk in peace. I pulled the bag out from under my seat and placed it in the passenger seat. I didn't want to forget about it. It showed that I really had gone shopping while I was gone.

Paxton answered on the third ring. I had texted him last night to expect my call around eleven a.m. or so. It was hard knowing when I could get free of the pack. He was just as abrupt as he always was, "You're late," he said.

"It is hard getting out of the pack these days, Alpha Paxton. Security has been increased after you came to get your pack members back. Since Alexei kicked Jana and Anika out of the coven, things have gotten even tighter at Black Adder. I can't see that slowing down until after the Luna ceremony," I replied calmly.

There was no way that I would mention my being interviewed or anything about what Jana had done to get kicked out of the coven. It was better to leave that out of it, as it would only cause him to worry even more. At the very least, it would affect his trust in me to get this done. Another voice, much calmer than Paxton, came through my phone: "We understand how hard it is for you to leave your pack to come and update us. Paxton is just a little anxious. Can you tell me what you came up with to get the three of them to the wall? I know none of us want to make a mistake about what we need to do."

"I have spent the last few days figuring it out. Jana wanted me to contact a dark witch to ensure Cara was knocked out, too. The issue is that the dark witch wants ten thousand dollars to help us." I started to ask for the funds before Paxton blew up on me.

"No! I am not a bank, Lena. I am already having to build not one but two new homes. That is already a great deal of money. I am unhappy about you asking for more when I am already doing so much. Do not call asking for money again. Now, go on with your plan to get them to us. I know that you told us to park three-fourths of a mile away from the gate. That is a good idea. I don't want to have to pass the gate and potentially get caught. Best to be on the city side of it, like you suggested, and leave as quickly as we can. I remember that you will have the spot we need to park spray painted with a black dot. We will wait for you there. I need to warn you again, Lena. Do not double-cross me. I may go down, but I promise you that it will be the last thing you do," Paxton growled out.

"Look, I am sticking my neck out too, Paxton. I am getting you the woman you love back and two more for your ranked wolves to take as their chosen mates. Don't forget that two of them are Luna's, one of which is mine. As you know, the cost of treason is steep. So, this whole thing is very stressful to me. I am taking a great risk to get this done. You know very well that if Jaxon replaces out what I have done, he will not hesitate to kill me. So we are in this thing together. I will not betray you, and you better not betray me either," I snapped back out at him. I am so sick of him always yelling at me like I am the one who can't be trusted. That is crazy because I am the one who is taking the greatest risk between us.

"I am sorry. I am nervous about this whole thing going wrong. It just seems like every time you call, there is always one more thing. I am trying to get their homes up and ready, and to get that done quickly. I am hemorrhaging money over here. Even more than what my chosen mate usually does. So I can't give you the money. I have been told that giving wolfsbane to them will work, even on Cara. It hinders witches and vampires, too. So what is your plan, Lena?" Paxton replied.

I had to shake off my surprise at an Alpha actually apologizing to me. They are usually too prideful to do something like that. It showed me just how much he wanted to get Cara back. He must really care for her to be willing to defer to me.

"I will have someone take drinks to the Alpha suite about thirty minutes before they are scheduled to come down. Hopefully, they will have just enough to make them easy to control. I do not have access to the Alpha floor to go up to get them. I will have to wait until they come down to catch them. We will have to knock out the three women who I know will be with them: Cheryl, Raven, and Saoirse. Once we get them dealt with, Cara, Brenna, and Luna should be much easier to handle. I will also have the punch at the event spiked with wolfsbane as well. I just need their instincts off so we can get the girls out of the pack," I told him.

"Don't give them too much. It could harm them," Paxton interrupted with concern evident in his voice.

"I will put more in the punch at the ceremony, but not enough to endanger anyone. I just need them a little off so you can get to the airfield to get away. I will put them in my car and drive to the closest point in the woods. That way, we will only have to carry them for half a mile to get to you. That way, I can also return to the party, and only be gone for ten minutes. I need to have an alibi in place, as Jaxon will lose it when he replaces out his mate is gone. I can't afford for him to lose control and kill me. I will make sure that a higher-up is aware of my presence and can vouch for me. I will pick up the wolfsbane this afternoon when I help my father rotate the ammunition. I will grab two large vials instead of one to ensure I can get this done," I advised them.

"I think that is a good plan, Lena. That should work, and we will all get what we want out of doing this. I hope that Jaxon can truly see your value as he recovers from losing his mate. All you need to do now is make sure that you can get the wolfsbane without being caught. One day, I can pay you for the help you provided us. I believe that this is our last call, as it is Saturday. We will be there in place at eight-fifteen p.m. on Wednesday, as the sun goes down. I know the ceremony is supposed to start at nine. That gives you a small window of time to get it done," Paxton replied.

"Um, one more thing. No one is allowed to leave the pack on the day of the ceremony. I can't pick Jana and Anika. Is it possible for you to pick them up and bring them here? They can't be exposed to direct sunlight. They can cover up with a blanket on the way here, but I have to have them in order to get this done. I can text you their location, and you can text them once you arrive," I asked.

I waited until the end because I knew they would not be happy about me asking them to do this. They will have to get over it, as they are letting them come live in their pack. I can't leave to go get them, so we don't have a choice here.

"Fine, I guess we have to pick them up. Tell them that we'll be there at dusk. Go ahead and text me their location," Paxton finally replied.
