Betrayed by My Pack – Wolfless Hybrids Escape -
Chapter 75 –
Cara's POV Sunday Afternoon
home to grab a shower"
I know that Adra is not going to let this go. I can see it on my mother's face; she knows it, too. Everyone was quiet until my mother said, "Let's go train, Cara. I need to teach you a few new things. We will go to the training building, and I will get you all settled. Then I will take Robert "I don't need a shower, love. I will stay with you, and we can shower when we get home," Robert told her. I knew that it had meant a lot to Mom with everyone jumping to her defense earlier. It was clear to all of us that Adra was pissed off and jealous. She had made everyone feel really uncomfortable, and we needed a change of location. Hopefully, this will get everyone's mind off what happened.
Some members of our group have seen me train before, like Alexei, Jaxon, Robert and my sister Brenna. But Trevor, Kevin, Luna, Sasha, and Emerson had never seen me train before. I couldn't wait to show Luna what I had learned. They were all impressed as Mom created the training building right in front of their eyes. They entered and were even more impressed at how large it was.
Who wants to volunteer to let me use you to warm up?" I asked. The words had barely left my mouth when Sasha leaped up to say, "I will." She was happy to volunteer even though she had no idea what I would do to her.
I motioned her over and asked, "Are you scared of heights?"
"Nope," Sasha said with a grin. She didn't even make a sound when I lifted her and sent her around the room. She was loving it and screaming out for Emerson to do it next. Emerson was already coming over to go next before I could even bring Sasha back in. Emerson had just as much fun as Sasha did. Mom and Robert were speaking quietly together near the far wall, so I gave them some time. Kevin, Luna, and Trevor all wanted to go next. I pushed it by turning and lifting both Kevin and Trevor in the air at the same time. I kept them on separate walls as I slowly turned, holding them in the air. I let Mom talk to Robert for a while and let everyone get a turn.
I watched as Mom did some kind of spell over her and Robert. I didn't know what she was doing, but it seemed like it was important enough for her to get it done right away. She seemed happier when they walked back over to our group. I had produced two benches for the group to sit on to watch before Mom started me on my regular training. I showed off my defense and offense. Luna was so proud of me when I created the fireballs and ice arrows. I could hear her cheering for me the whole time.
"It is time that you learned how to heal, Cara. Today's incident has reminded me that you need to work on this next. Brenna is pregnant, and she might one day need your help. You have the power inside you to heal, the same as me. I didn't even know it when I was around your age. This is something I learned about while I was living inside the coven in Europe. I found out about my hidden talents in my third year living there," my mother advised me.
"OK, what do I need to do? How do I learn how to do this?" I asked. I sensed that this would be a much tougher lesson than some of the other lessons that I have learned. I had read between the lines. I may need to help Mom out one of these days, especially if Adra hurts her. I knew who Adra was the moment I saw her. I had lived with a jealous person for years, Lisa. I was going to make sure I learned how to do this. This was life and death, and I would not fail my family or my friends.
"This power comes from deep within you, Cara. You only need to give some of your strength to the injured party. Do not give too much of yourself, or you could pass out. You are literally giving your strength up in order to heal them. You must learn when to stop. That is absolutely imperative for you to learn that you cannot go too far. You will be at someone else's mercy if you do. You can't help anyone else if you pass out. So you need to really pay attention when you are using this power. It is only to be used in an actual emergency. One where a life is at stake. Not for broken bones or a slight illness. This is more for a punctured lung or someone having been stabbed in the heart. It is only for something that could result in death," my mother calmly told me.
"Got it," I replied. I knew what she meant. Not to be used for something that they could heal from on their own. This was only to be used when the wolf, witch, or vampire could not heal independently. One in which their injuries could be considered life-threatening. "OK, I am going to bring the training dummy back. I will let you determine what injury will be the one that needs to be healed. You can go kneel next to them when you determine that is the injury that that you want to heal. I will come to you and walk you through it at that point. Remember, do not go far enough to pass out unless you know that you will be safe to do so," my mother reminded me.
"How will I know if the injury is bad enough?" I asked
"Listen to your feelings inside you. They will help you," my mother replied.
"OK, I'm ready," I told her. It was dead silent in the room, and I truly forgot anyone else was in there with us, as the dummy that my mother used showed evidence of having a broken leg. Then, a broken arm. She gave me about five scenarios of low-level, non-emergency injuries. Then she had an injury where the victim was cut pretty badly on the right side of his neck. He was excessively bleeding and holding his hand to the wound to slow the blood loss.
I ran over and got on the ground to save the dummy. My mother started giving me instructions: "Stay calm, no matter who is hurt. You have to be able to focus for this to work properly. So even if it is me, Alexie, your own children, or siblings, you have to remain calm," she told me. I nodded and willed myself to relax. By making myself calm, I was able to sense things much better.
"You would normally touch the area of the injury. In this case, since his hand is covering the wound, cover their hand with your own. Now, using your mind, think about how to repair the injury," my mother instructed.
"So I need to repair the artery mentally? Like in my mind, think of how to repair the tear?" I asked.
"Yes," Just imagine being able to stop blood flow. See the artery closing back up again, totally repaired, with no blood escaping. Then, you need to think about the cut on his neck. Make sure that you get the wound clean, before closing it. The knife or blade that he was cut with might be dirty. Just walk your way through it. Try to do it without alerting others as to what you are doing. Not all witches can heal. Because of our strong line, we are some of the ones who can. Some might want you for your power, so try to block what you do when you go to heal someone. Some Alphas will kill in order to have that kind of power in their pack," my mother continued to speak as she kneeled next to me.
I didn't know if I was doing it correctly or not. I was thinking about the cut on the artery and correcting it. I could see the dummy letting go of the wound now. There was no more blood pouring out anymore. I was relieved at that, now onto the second part of the injury. I could see that the cut was dirty; it would definitely become infected if it were not treated. I closed my eyes and laid my hand on the cut. I could see in my mind I was cleaning the wound first. Once I got the wound clean, I sealed the cut. When I lifted my hand, there was no sign of the injury. "Excellent job, Cara, now rest. You have to rest after healing, it is very important. I am proud of you for doing what was needed to heal the injury. I want you to remember that if this were an actual emergency, there would be screaming going on. The injured will beg you to save them, even if someone else was injured worse than them. You need to learn to be able to assess each injury and to replace the person in the group who will die without your assistance. If they are a werewolf, their wolf will stay to heal them unless they have been given something to incapacitate the wolf. It's hard to know who to use your powers to protect. There are a lot of mitigating factors. Just use your senses to help you know who needs your help the most. You can save up to two people before you have to rest. After a little rest, you will be right back to whole again," my mother told me.
I could tell that something was bothering her. Something she didn't want to mention to me. I will leave that alone. She must still be upset about Adra from earlier this afternoon. I won't let Adra hurt my mother. Robert is Mom's mate. He already loves her. I am sure he will not allow Adra to hurt my mother, but I see her for who she is. She is a fake person who acts nice to the people she likes and is horrible to everyone else, just like Lisa. I already know that I don't want to be around her again.
I hope she really will leave the pack, but I know that is not something Lisa would do. I already knew that Adra was spouting off but would not follow through with it. I am concerned for my mother, but she is with Robert now, and I know that he will protect her. I will ask her to stay at home for her safety. She needs to stay there, except when she comes out to train me. I know our house is spelled, and Adra can't enter it.
I just got my Mom back. I don't want to lose her again. If Adra thinks that she can hurt my mother by taking Robert away from her, she better think again. They are both marked and mated. My mother has already been hurt so badly before. I don't know if she could get past it if Adra were to try to tear them apart. I do know that if she does hurt my mother, the gloves will come off. She better be prepared for the fallout from it. I won't allow anyone else to hurt my mother ever again. They will have to get through me first, and I won't be playing nice anymore.
