Cara's POV

The shock on their faces was not faked. They hadn't admitted to it to anyone. They were absolutely stunned that I had just called them out on it. I heard them. I knew what they had done. I also knew that they would not ever admit it to me or anyone. They turned to look at each other.

I guess they were trying to gauge who had told their secret, never realizing that it had been an accident. I just happened to overheard them discussing it. It was almost amusing to watch as they tried to speak with their eyes as they assessed each other. We knew that they were guilty; they didn't have to admit it.

Paxton was the first to try to speak, "Um, I don't know what you are even talking about, Cara. You are accusing us of something that the police told us had just been a horrible accident. I know you are stressed out and obviously upset, as you didn't expect us to come back for you. It is obvious that you are not thinking clearly. What you just accused me, well, all of us of doing is a slanderous lie," Paxton dismissively stated, as if he were speaking to a child.

"I heard you, Paxton. I heard the whole discussion. How else could I have known who did what? You three killed two innocent members of your pack. How can you live with the guilt of it? I've got a great idea. How about you three split up, with two of you going into your office and the third going into the laundry room? Then, see how well you can hear when the washers and dryers are not running. I know what I heard, so don't try to twist it around now. You three killed our parents, and we know it. That is why we ran away. We planned it. How else could we have so smoothly disappeared?" I bluntly announced. These men were absolutely shameless.

The only reaction I got from them was them paling a little. I saw Rex look to see if anyone else heard what I had said down the hallway. They were ruthless with their actions but still had the gall to act like they had no involvement in the matter. I saw Paxton's eyes narrow on me. I knew that he was really angry. Well, guess what, Paxton, so am I, and so are my sisters. I won't say that my parents treated me the same as they did Brenna and Luna. But they gave us a safe place to live and always provided for the three of us.

"I will go tell them to bring you three some breakfast. Clearly, your hunger is making you hallucinate, Cara," Paxton said before turning and stalking away with Rex and Clay. They weren't fooling anyone. They were going to go see if what I told them was true or not. Even being ranked wolves, they still have to follow our laws.

"You know that they will be going to check it out, right?" Brenna asked.

"Yeah, I know. I don't think we need to accept anything they have brought down to us. I wouldn't put it past them to drug us, as Paxton is pissed off enough to do just that. I was going to wait to confront them but was trying to buy us some time. We just need to stay strong and wait for our mates to come. I know that they are coming for us," I told them with sincerity. I don't know how I knew, but I knew that they were coming for us.

"I feel it, too. They are coming. Kevin is nearby. It is like I can feel him. It is faint, but it is there. They are probably trying to devise a plan to rescue us. I'm sure that they will be here soon," Luna answered.

"I was so focused on them and protecting my baby that I didn't sense him. Jaxon is near, too. I can't wait for them to get here," Brenna said and started crying again. Her hormones were really affecting her. She couldn't help it, and I felt terrible for her. She has a baby to protect. One that if Rex replaces out about, he will surely make her miscarry. No ranked male is willing to raise another wolf's child. It was a matter of pride for them.

I drank some water from the sink, as my mouth was dry. After rinsing my mouth out from sleeping last night, I got a few sips of water. This would be the only safe thing for us to drink. Luna and Brenns did the same thing, to freshen their mouths as well. My next step was to see if my powers were coming back. It won't be long before they come back.

Paxton is not going to let this pass. He won't come back alone, and I am sure that it will be at least three-on-one to get us handcuffed and moved into the house he told us about. I stood near the corner to shield myself from anyone walking past. I didn't need them to notice what I was doing. I quickly prayed for help before I even tried to test my powers. I needed them to come back quickly. We will not be safe here unless I can protect us.

I raised my hand to try to make an ice spear. That was the second reason that I got something to drink. The floor was concrete, and the walls were stone. I was not going to be able to make a fireball unless I could get us out of there. Who was I kidding? The moment I am strong enough, I will take Brenna back to Black Adder and then come back to get Luna. I just need to get some of my strength back.

I could see that something was forming in my hand. Not very big, but a very thin ice spear had been created. The relief I felt almost made me hit my knees. I had been terrified that we would be trapped here before I could do something. I sat down and nodded at my sisters. They saw it, too, and I could see the relief shining in their eyes. My powers were starting to come back. Getting my sisters out of here is my primary plan.

I wanted to put a spell on our cell. One that would keep anyone from entering, but I knew I needed to save up my power at the moment. If they return and try to enter, I will spell the cell then. For the time being, I will just try to rest. Brenna knew without me having to speak what I needed to do. She slid over and had me sit between her and Luna on the cot. They would watch over me until I had enough strength to get all of us out of there.

I felt safe between them and only had a few thoughts run through my head before I managed to nod off. I think I need about an hour's rest. I might be at sixty percent at that point. It will have to be enough. If not, I could barricade the door until we could get free. If needed, I can take Brenna to the dining room at Black Adder. They have freshly made sandwiches in there daily. I will grab one, and some drinks for Luna and I. I can secure us in the cell and use the meal to build my strength.

I usually don't do magic around anyone, as it makes some of the pack members nervous. But desperate times call for desperate measures. I didn't sleep peacefully at all. I had nightmares about being taken and Paxton wanting us all to just forgive and forget. I won't be doing either. My mother is still not awake yet. I can't feel her like I normally do, and that worries me so much. She was so hurt by what Robert did, and I knew that was part of the problem. I don't know if she was fighting to come back. I suspected that she was wallowing in her own misery and probably wasn't even aware I had been taken.

I know how much she loves me. She would be here for me if she even suspected that I had been taken. I am going to have to be the one to save us. I woke up suddenly during a particularly bad dream. I understand why I had woken up right after I opened my eyes. Paxton was back at our cell, with Rex and Clay. It was apparent that they knew that I had been telling them the truth.

"I think you might have misunderstood us, Cara. Even with the machines off, voices are muffled, making it hard to understand what is being said. I am not saying that you are lying. I am just saying that you didn't hear what you think you heard. We didn't do what you are accusing us of doing. I swear to you that we had nothing to do with the death of your parents. You have known me your whole life. I am not a killer," Paxton stopped speaking to motion to the two men behind him. "Rex and Clay are not killers. You were just tired and confused, and you heard wrong.

"I didn't hear wrong, Paxton. You three were speaking a lot louder than you realized. I am sure that when you recreated it, you spoke in normal tones. The night I heard you speaking, you three spoke out very clearly. I guess you finally got one over on my father as you were celebrating the fact that he couldn't stop you three anymore. You can try to twist it however you want, but we know the truth. You made a bad decision. You didn't think it through. Now you have to live with it, and I hope that the Goddess punishes you for it," I announced before turning my face away from them to look at the wall. There was nothing else to say between us.

A warrior ran up with a panicked look on his face. "Alpha, there are three men at the gate wanting to speak to you," he managed to get out, but his fear was evident.

"Is it members of the Council?" Paxton asked with a scoff. He was already expecting them, but he would be wrong with his guess. The Council Members wouldn't have instilled fear like this into the warrior. This is fear that some might die. I realized that our mates were here. "It is our mates. They have come to get us," I announced with a smirk.

"It can't be. According to our laws, which all packs must abide by, the Council has to intervene on any matters that deal with a potential war," Clay tried to correct me.

"I will remind you that the Council warned you all when they left Black Adder after speaking to us. Then you came back and took not one, but two Luna's away from their true mates. You were already warned, so Jaxon didn't have to go to the Council and jump through hoops. Jaxon had already told the Council if you returned for any reason, there would be no warning. So he didn't have to jump through hoops. He could just come right here. They already knew who took us. They will be dealing with you accordingly. What you three decided to do is an act of war against the Black Adder and Black Moon packs. Looks like you are about to go to war, Paxton," I told him.
