Chapter 44 Devouring Skill

When Ricky saw the words in his mind, he once again felt the immense vastness which was feltimmortal, as if it were from the infinite remote antiquity.

"It is the Chaos Manual!" Ricky exclaimed to himself.

Now, Ricky faintly felt that his new spiritual meridian was more than just that, like it was also a kindof inheritance. Because he had no spiritual meridian, it just acted in place of one.

"The description on Manuals is supposed to be about the Casting Skill, then the Devouring Skill is...”Ricky said in a low voice, and his spirit again communicated with those runes that had intruded intohis Soul Sea

Just then, he felt that the mysterious runes turned into a huge block of information that absorbedinto his mind.

Soon, Ricky completely understood what the Chaos Manual and Devouring Skill were.

From the new-gained information, Ricky learned that the Chaos Manual had been created since thebeginning of heaven and earth. It was said to be the first treasure in the world for it was not only assimple as a casting manual, but also included a multitude of cultivation methods of martial arts.Those combination of these martial arts cultivation skills and casting skills formed the Nine SupremeSkills, which comprised the Chaos Manual.

The Devouring Skill was the first skill of the Nine Supreme Skills.

"The Chaos Manual, the first treasure, has nine supreme skills. But what kind of person would be itsoriginal owner? And why would my mother have it?" After understanding how powerful the ChaoManual was, Ricky was taken aback.

"I can't tell anyone about the Chaos Manual. Or I'll be in a lot of trouble!" Ricky warned himself.Blood Zone, the first segment of the new spiritual meridian, contained the Devouring Skill whichwas the first skill of the Chaos Manual. Those mysterious runes turned out to be the cultivationmethod of the Devouring Skill.

The other eight supreme skills were in the other eight segments of Ricky's spiritual meridian. Nowhe understood why it had split.

To learn the remaining skills, Ricky would have to enhance within his own realm, inciting theemergence of the other eight segments. This was the same method he had used to obtain theBlood Zone.

Now, the Blood Zone would be called the Devouring Zone instead.

The scarlet flames accompanying Devouring Skill was a peculiar fire indeed - Devouring Fire.

"This means... With the Devouring Skill and Devouring Fire, I am actually qualified to become a basiccasting master!" Ricky realized, excitement coursing through his body. "From now on, I, Ricky, willbe one of those distinguished and respected casting masters!"

He grinned from ear to ear, now extremely confident about his future in martial arts.

Soon, Ricky completely immersed himself in the Devouring Skill, once he had fully absorbed andunderstood how to complete the casting skill and cultivation method in the Devouring Skill.

For an entire day and night, Ricky was deep in his mind, trying to fully absorb everything. He didn'tfeel hunger, and did not know how long it would take for him to wake up.

Once he opened his eyes, Ricky told Grace and Heather that he was fine.

Having checked to make sure this was true, Grace scolded him and told him not to be so impulsiveanymore.

Ricky gladly accepted Grace's admonishments. He could feel that Grace did care about him.

Ricky stood up and went to Lewis’ room.

In the span of several days’ rest, Lewis had already recovered quite well. However, because of thedeep fractures on his legs and arms, it was likely that Lewis would have to bid farewell to the path ofcultivation.

Lewis sighed, but the dominant thing in his mind was the shock that Ricky could have killed Dustinfor him.

They sat on Lewis’ bed, talking. Ricky found out that Lewis’ parents were preparing to take himhome from the Snow Sect.

"Ricky, my good friend, although I am almost totally disabled now, I will never regret coming totrain in the Snow Sect... Because I met you!" Lewis said, his eyes sparkling with tears.

"Lewis, I won't give up. I will replace a way to heal your arms and legs," Ricky promised, just asovercome with grief as his good friend.

As a warrior of martial arts, Ricky knew a lot of special ways and rare medicines which could helpwarriors regrow bones and even rehabilitate limbs, but at this moment he was not qualified to replacethem yet.

But Ricky swore he would replace them for Lewis.

"Ha-ha, bro, I'm glad that you would do that for me, but I'm better off declining your offer,” Lewissmiled. "Somehow, I am excited to live like normal people in the future.”

However, Ricky still could feel the deep desire to continue martial arts reflected in Lewis' eyes.After spending half the way with Ricky, Lewis’ family came to bring him home.

Ricky and Vivian came with them a long ways, reluctant to return to the Snow Sect until they hadseen their friend off a long distance away.

"Master, do you know what special ways or medicines can regrow broken bones?” Ricky askedGrace once he returned to the courtyard.

"You're asking this question for Lewis, aren't you?" Grace asked.

"Yes. If only I hadn't killed Luther, Lewis wouldn't be in the state!" Ricky said sadly.

"Our Snow Sect also has special ways and medicines that can regrow bones, but you must havefigured out that the price won't be small. They cost at least tens of thousands of gold coins ormillions of silver coins.” Grace told him, "Even I cannot afford that price, much less you. If you trulywant to help your friend, the best and really the only way is to study cultivation methods dutifully,because the more powerful you are, the richer you become.”

"Master, I understand!" Ricky nodded vigorously, his mind racing.

He knew he couldn't fulfill his promise to Lewis right away.

He was willing to practice, like Grace had advised him. As long as he was strong and determined,silver coins and gold coins would be easy to get.

Although Ricky reached the highest level of the eighth grade of Skin Refinement, he wouldn'tbreakthrough again right away. He knew that because the breakthrough would be made by theDevouring Power of the Devouring Zone, he needed to lay a solid foundation to ensure that itwouldn't hamper his future training in martial arts.

With this, Ricky decided to practice and master the Nine-degree Body Refining Formula andDevouring Skill.

For the Nine-degree Body Refining Formula, he was confident that he could reach the seconddegree only by refining his body with the frosty power. By reaching the Second Degree of Nine-degree Body Refining Formula, he would become virtually unbeatable in the Outer Competition.Ricky decided to consult Grace. "Master... "The Centennial Magic Ice is hidden away in frozen, icy places up on the snow mountains. I knowsome places where you can start looking for it."

"Well, I suppose it is time to head for the snow mountains once again!" Ricky said.

But, before his departure, he needed to select a frosty-natured cultivation method which wouldenhance his cultivation of the Nine-degree Body Refining Formula.
