CEO's Tears Over Pregnancy Test Discovery -
Chapter 1240
Lydia quickly muttered an apology and tried to slip past the man.
"Where do you think you're going? You bump into me and think a simple 'sorry' is enough? There's no way it's that easy!" The man grabbed her arm forcefully, pulling her back. With a yelp, Lydia stumbled into the wall.
That seemed to jolt the man's alcohol-fogged brain into some clarity, and when he got a good look at her, his eyes lit up.
"Well, aren't you something," he sneered. "How much for the night? I'll take good care of you."
The man was sporting a beer belly and a sleazy grin. He looked Lydia up and down as if she were one of the many women on the yacht hoping to land a rich guy for the night. But Lydia wasn't one of them. "Get lost! Take a good look at yourself. Do you think I'm someone you can mess with?" Lydia snapped, stomping her heel down on his foot.
The man howled in pain, and Lydia took the chance to gather her dress and run.
But the man's furious roar followed her down the hallway. "You filthy b*tch! You think you can get away with that? I'll make sure you regret it!"
The door to the private room he had come from swung open, and a group of bodyguards poured out. The hallway suddenly filled with people, and the man was shouting for them to catch her.
Despite the chaos, Lydia ran as fast as her high heels would allow. The bodyguards, confused, couldn't believe how quickly she was moving. How could someone in heels manage to sprint like that? Reaching a corner, Lydia bolted into the main hall, thinking she was safe. But two of the bodyguards caught up, grabbing her by the arms and lifting her off the ground.
The man huffed and puffed as he finally caught up, glaring at her. "Weren't you running real fast just now? Let's see you run again."
Lydia glared back at him, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "Why don't you catch your breath first? Otherwise, I'll feel like I'm talking to a dog."
"You-!" The man's face turned beet red with rage. "Get her out of here!"
Just as the bodyguards were about to drag her away, they were suddenly thrown aside, followed by their agonized cries.
"Lydia!"
The sharpness in Lydia's eyes melted as she spotted the man running toward her. Her eyes reddened with relief. "Didn't I tell you to come replace me as soon as you finished with Mr. William? Where were you?" "I'm sorry... I came too late," Quincy said, pulling her into his arms, his voice filled with regret.
His gaze fell to her swollen ankle, and his eyes turned icy with rage.
"Who the hell are you?" the
beer-bellied man barked, pointing at Lydia. "Let me tell you, I have connections with the auction organizers. This woman pissed me off big time. If you protect her, you'll both be thrown overboard to feed the fish!"
"The one feeding the fish will be you."
A cold voice echoed through the hall, and Eugene entered, his expression dark.
The man's demeanor instantly changed when he recognized Eugene. His face paled as he hurriedly plastered on a smile. "Mr Ford! I didn't know you knew her. If I had known, I wouldn't have caused any trouble. This is all just a misunderstanding! Why are you all standing around? Don't you see Mr. Ford is here? Back off!"
The bodyguards quickly retreated at his command, their earlier arrogance vanishing in an instant. Lydia couldn't help but witness firsthand how quickly someone could change their attitude when power was involved.
Eugene didn't bother acknowledging the man's attempts to curry favor. Instead, he gave his assistant a cold glance. The assistant quickly understood, stepping forward to drag the man away. The man's desperate pleas echoed through the grand hall, and everyone in the room fell into an eerie silence, watching the scene unfold.
