CEO's Tears Over Pregnancy Test Discovery -
Chapter 536
"It won't happen," Nash said, panting and wincing in pain. "I won't die. If I die, who will protect you? So, I won't die."
Nina could not bear to hear such words, and she cried even harder.
Nash, with a gentle look in his eyes, patted her back to calm her down.
He was afraid, too.
He was afraid of dying, afraid of leaving her alone.
If something like this happened again, who would protect her?
He also feared that the so-called Zac would come to take her away or deceive her. He worried she might get hurt or fall for another man.
His possessiveness made him worry about these things, though he knew he would be ridiculed if he admitted it.
Nash's lips curved into a bitter smile.
Nina wiped her tears away, though she could not stop herself from crying. It was not the time for tears.
Her eyes, red from crying, locked onto his. "It's a promise then. I believe you."
She found no other way to comfort herself.
Nash stared at her with a smile, not a bitter one this time, but one of relief. She was strong, and that was enough to let him rest easy.
Nash struggled to keep his eyes open, holding on for Nina's sake.
Ten minutes later, the military vehicles arrived at the hospital in an orderly manner.
As soon as the vehicles arrived, the nurses quickly realized it was serious and brought out a stretcher.
Nash was carefully lifted onto the stretcher by his comrades.
The nurses hurriedly put an oxygen mask on him.
Nina got out of the car and ran, not letting go of Nash's hand. Watching his face grow paler as he lost consciousness, she was terrified for his life. "Nash, you promised me. You have to hold on. You've never le me down before, and this time can't be any different!"
As they reached the operating room door, a nurse quickly stopped Nina. "Miss, please wait here."
The doors to the operating room closed with a "bang."
It felt like the world stopped spinning, the silence was deafening.
Nina stared at the light above the operating room door and her heart was in her throat. She was barely breathing, afraid that any sound would bring bad news.
She wished she could take Nash's place. That way, her guilt might be lessened.
"Nina, Nina!" Yvonne rushed over, seeing Nina standing frozen at the door, and called out to her in concern.
She had not expected such a dire situation, with Nash being rushed into emergency surgery.
"Nina, are you okay?" Yvonne asked anxiously, seeing her friend's dazed and desolate state.
Nina, eyes fixed on the light of the operating room, spoke in a flat tone, "If I hadn't gone to the hospital for a checkup, this wouldn't have happened."
She had escaped once before. Why hadn't she been more cautious? She should have brought someone with her.
Yvonne, seeing Nina trapped in self-blame, said loudly, "Nina, what are you talking about? This isn't your fault. You can't prevent people from trying to harm you forever. It's unrealistic. Only by ensuring they face justice can you be safe. If you get hurt, Nash would go to the ends of the earth to protect you!"
In the current situation, Yvonne could see how much Nash valued Nina's life.
Although Nash was now in the operating room and his fate was uncertain, Yvonne wanted to comfort Nina and help her stay strong.
Nina finally looked at Yvonne, her expression bleak. "Yvonne, if I had the ability to protect myself, this wouldn't have happened."
