Nina did not quite understand and asked. "What do you mean? How is he being too hard on you?"

James explained, "Yesterday, the captain punished me by making me train until midnight and then get up at the crack of dawn."

"Didn't he say you like working out at night?" Nina was surprised.

"Did he say that?" James felt pitiful and could only swallow his tears and admit, "Alright, I like working out at night."

When they arrived at Nina's floor, she said, "Wait here. I'll be back soon."

"Okay."

James would ensure her safety while respecting her privacy. They had checked the apartment environment, and it seemed relatively safe.

Nina was heading home but paused at Wilfred's door. She had many questions but did not know why he wouldn't see her.

Maybe he had his reasons. Was he home now?

Nina hesitated for a moment and then rang his doorbell three times.

After waiting for a while with no answer, she assumed he wasn't home. Just as she was about to leave, the door suddenly opened, and she quickly turned back.

"Wilfred..."

His tall figure slumped toward her without any strength.

Nina was stunned and hurried to support him.

Wilfred held onto the door, not putting all his weight on her, so Nina managed to hold him up easily. "What happened to you?"

"Ivy..." Wilfred called weakly.

Hearing this name, Nina did not deny it and helped him inside. She immediately smelled a strong scent of blood.

Seeing the trash can full of bloody gauze, Nina was shocked.

She quickly laid Wilfred on the sofa and saw his abdomen stained with fresh blood.

This scared Nina. She had seen a lot of blood these days, so she was tense and quickly tore off the gauze to rebandage his wound. "Ivy..." Wilfred looked at Nina and tried to resist but did not dare to touch her hand. "No, it's dirty."

Nina stared at him intently.

Wilfred avoided her gaze, feeling a powerless sense of inferiority. "Don't touch me. I'm dirty. I don't want to dirty you."

Maybe it was this feeling of inferiority that made Nina move closer to him, feeling a sense of pity and a hint of bitterness.

He should not be like this. He should be clean.

He was a doctor, the purest profession in the world. How could he be dirty?

She placed her hand on the back of his.

Wilfred flinched.

"You're not dirty. I don't think you're dirty." Nina looked at his hands, almost peeling from being washed too much. "Give me your hand. I'll bandage your wound." Wilfred's eyes looked at her with sadness. "Aren't you afraid of me anymore?"

"I'm not afraid."

Wilfred's eyes turned slightly red, and he smiled. "That's great. It's good that you're not afraid anymore."

Nina pulled his clothes aside and found his body covered in scars.

She could not believe it and looked up at him. "What happened? How could you have so many injuries? Last time I saw your arm was injured too. Why?"

Wilfred's lips lost their color, and he smiled bitterly. "You know I wouldn't lie to you. Don't ask about the bad things. I'm afraid you won't like me anymore."
