Chapter 574

"You need to take better care of yourself," Eve said. "I told Grandpa that I'd stay with you for a few days, and I even brought my luggage!"

At that moment, someone was loading Eve's luggage into their car.

"Great, we'll have Nash cook for us," Nina replied.

"Really?" Eve's eyes lit up. "That's awesome! He should definitely be the one cooking, while you relax!"

Returning to the villa felt like coming home for Nina, even though it had been a while.

Eve, being a foodie, had already bought plenty of snacks before they even arrived. It was clear she intended to stay for a while and was more than happy to share her treats with

Nina.

As they watched TV together, the news reported a body found in the suburbs, with the internal organs removed.

Eve's face turned pale. "There are so many bad people these days. Who would do something like that, to remove all the organs?"

Nina recalled James's slip of the tongue earlier. He mentioned something about the suburbs.

Could Nash have gone to the crime scene?

The body was that of a woman.

It was not just Eve who was scared. Listening to the news, Nina felt a chill run down her spine, her hairs standing on end. She felt a deep, instinctual fear.

"When you came with James, did you hear anything about this?" Nina asked.

Eve shook her head. "No, and even if they knew, they wouldn't discuss it in front of me,"

Although Eve came from a military family, she was still quite sheltered from such brutal realities.

Nina did not press further but could not shake her concern. The idea of all organs being removed for trafficking was terrifying. What kind of person would do something so cruel?

Nina's body shivered, and she felt a pain in her chest.

"Nina, are you okay?" Eve asked, worried. "Do you feel unwell?"

Nina tried to calm herself. "I'm fine. I just need to rest for a bit."

"Let me help you upstairs," Eve said, abandoning her snacks to assist Nina.

Once in her bedroom, Nina did not leave. She was waiting for Nash to return and hoping for a call from him.

It was late into the night when she finally heard the sound of a car. Nash was back.

She quickly got out of bed, barely taking the time to put on her shoes, and rushed to the stairs just in time to see Nash coming in. He looked tired as he handed his coat to the housekeeper.

"You must be exhausted. Let me get you some water, or would you like me to run a bath for you?" Nina offered, wanting to help in any way she could.

Nash gently took her hands. "No need, I can do it myself."

Nina watched him as he walked past her and headed upstairs. She stood there, feeling a bit hurt by his coldness.

He had seemed fine earlier in the day. Was it just her imagination? She decided to follow him upstairs, hoping to talk to him.

Nina waited in the bedroom, fighting off sleep. When Nash finally came in, she immediately perked up, trying to shake off her drowsiness.

Nash placed his phone on the nightstand and told her, "I'm going to take a shower."

"Okay."

As he left, Nina could not shake the feeling that something was off.

She glanced at his phone, unable to resist her curiosity.

Checking his call log, she discovered that the call he had taken earlier was not a conference call at all.

It was a call with Miranda!
