CEO's Tears Over Pregnancy Test Discovery -
Chapter 742
Nina clutched the box, crying hysterically. She had never been this heartbroken before.
There was nothing she could do. She would have given her life for her baby's.
Why was she alive while her child was dead?
She couldn't accept it.
Nash approached and seeing her in such agony, his eyes were filled with a heaviness he couldn't soothe. But the reality was set, and he had to pick her up and tell her, "You can have more children. You need to pull yourself together."
Nina, lost in grief, was beyond reason. The anticipation she had for her baby's arrival now turned into immense sorrow, more painful than death.
Seeing Nash, her emotions became even more intense. She shoved him away forcefully, "Get away from me! What did you do? What have you done? 'You can have more children,' you say, as if it's nothing! Aren't you sad? Do you even have a heart? Did you ever love him at all?"
Nash pressed his lips together, not answering her questions, and instead reached to wipe away her tears.
As he lifted his hand, Nina turned her face away. "You have no right to touch me!"
Nash's hand froze in mid-air, a look of sadness crossing his eyes.
Nina saw his hesitation. He was always hesitant, never loving her with certainty. Her disappointment stemmed from him never once risking everything for her. She was never his first choice.
Nina turned back to gaze into his eyes. "You certainly are remarkable. Even now, your duty requires you to care for everyone equally to secure your authority. But have you ever once chosen me, stood firmly by my side? No, not even now when our child is gone, you don't even feel sad!"
Before, she understood him. Even when he was busy, it was for the people.
During her ten months of pregnancy, she barely spent time with him, but she understood.
But what was he doing now? Every time, he chose not to stand by her.
"You're right, I didn't love him as much as you thought," Nash admitted, his tone cold and hard. "I could even give him up. Hate me if you want, but now you see my true nature. I didn't anticipate this child as much as you did." Nina stared at him in disbelief. How could he say such things?
His cold eyes pushed her emotions to the limit, and she slapped him hard across the face.
The sound echoed loudly. Nash did not flinch, taking the slap without moving. His head turned to the side, a red handprint clearly visible on his face.
People arriving just then saw Nina hit Nash, shocked by the sight.
"How could you say such things!" Nina cried, her tears streaming down.
She was already heartbroken, and now she had to hear this. "If you didn't want him, why did you act so happy? Were you pretending? Pretending to love and anticipate him? Is your love for me a pretense too?"
Nash turned back, and while he could deny everything else, there was one thing he had to admit, "Everything else could be an act, but my love for you is real."
To Nina, it sounded like a joke. She laughed bitterly. "What good is love alone? Can it bring my baby back? Can you promise to protect me for the rest of my life?"
As she spoke, Nina might have held onto a shred of hope. But deep down, she knew it was impossible.
She was deceiving herself.
Nash could never give her what she needed, and she could not place all her hopes on him.
Feeling a strange sense of relief, Nina stood up without waiting for Nash's response. Her hands were covered in dirt.
