Chapter 797

Chana wasn't the only one covered in dirt. Her child was also grimy and tear streaked, looking as if they had just finished crying. Nash's attention wasn't on Chana but fixed coldly on James.

James lowered his head, feeling guilty for agreeing to Chana's plan. "Captain, I know I was wrong."

"You'll be doing all the chores tonight," Nash ordered sharply.

"Yes, sir!"

With that, they continued forward. However, since Chana had injured her leg, she couldn't walk far and had to be carried by a soldier.

Arin noticed and commented to Nina, "I haven't seen that woman before, and she has a child with her. Looks like she's one of the women they rescued."

Nina nodded, "Probably. There are a lot of refugees along the way."

Arin added, "So many refugees, why bring her along? She's just slowing them down."

"Don't say that," Nina chided gently, aware of Arin's blunt nature.

Riding on the soldier's back, Chana kept her eyes on Nash, biting her lip. She urged the soldier to catch up with him.

"Captain," Chana called out.

Nash didn't turn around. "What is it?"

Chana explained, "I went to see you last night, but they said you were resting, so I didn't go in. I talked to James about picking tea. I'm very good at it, you know. I can tell which tea leaves are fragrant and sweet at a glance. I didn't pick much, but it's enough for you to enjoy. Steeping them in morning dew will make the tea smell and taste wonderful..."

She was trying hard to impress Nash, hoping to leave a good impression. Nash, however, cut her off, "You don't need to go to the trouble. Just take care of your child."

"With nothing else to do, I wanted to help you out," Chana said, her intentions clear.

James was starting to realize he might have made a mistake in helping her. Chana's intentions weren't as simple as they seemed.

"No need," Nash said firmly, quickening his pace until he was walking beside Nina.

Seeing this, James suddenly realized that the woman from last night was right in front of him.

Though he hadn't seen Nina's face clearly, Nash's closeness to her and the fact he had given her his knee pads indicated their relationship was far from ordinary. This made Chana's words seem less threatening.

Arin, having overheard Chana, couldn't help but remark to Nina, "I thought she was up to something serious, but she's just trying to cozy up to Captain York, hoping to make him her kid's new dad!"

Nina was taken aback, unaware there was a woman with a child in their group. She looked back and saw Nash walking beside her, clearly showing he didn't want to be near Chana.

James, sneaking closer out of loyalty to Nina, wanted to hear more and better understand the situation. When he finally saw Nina's face, he was stunned.

"Ma'am...," he began, but seeing Nash's stern look, he quickly corrected himself, "Miss Nina!"

Nina turned, recognizing him. "Yes, it's me."

"What are you doing here?" James's surprise turned to joy. "I thought I was dreaming. Now I can finally relax. Seeing you again makes me so happy."

IIe playfully punched Felix, "Why didn't you tell me sooner?"

Felix winced, rubbing his chest, "Shouldn't you have figured it out? Did I really need to say it?"
