Ever since Nina was imprisoned here, she hadn't seen any men around. Just as the girl was about to say something, the door to their room suddenly opened. Mrs. Quintana stood in the doorway and looked directly at Nina. "You, come with me."

Nina frowned but got up. The girl watched Nina's departing figure with a heavy heart. She had been thinking that Nina's status was unusual, and now Mrs. Quintana had personally come to take her away. Was this the start of Nina's punishment? The girl's expression was calm, but her eyes were cold. She clenched her fists tightly. If she were to die, she would at least take Mrs. Quintana with her. Otherwise, all her suffering would be in vain.

Following Mrs. Quintana, Nina remained alert. They walked a short distance before Mrs. Quintana brought her to a man. Nina immediately recognized him. It was the same man who had saved her from Mrs. Quintana earlier, known as Mr. Joker. "I've brought her here. I'll be leaving now," Mrs. Quintana said hurriedly, turning to leave with surprising speed. The kick from Mr. Joker still ached, and her old bones felt like they were about to fall apart. She didn't dare linger here any longer. Now, it was just Nina and Mr. Joker in the room. He handed her a black card threaded with a black string. "Wear this, and no one will dare harm you. You can move freely within the confines of this place."

Holding the card, Nina asked sharply, "What's Micah's game here?"

She knew Micah was aware she had been captured. Predicting the danger she would face, he had sent Mr. Joker to protect her, giving her something that symbolized status and allowed her some freedom. But he still left her here. Nina couldn't understand his motives. Mr. Joker's dark eyes flashed with surprise. "How do you know?"

He had saved her without revealing his identity or speaking to her. Yet Nina had accurately named his boss, even knowing that he was his boss's man.

Had Micah already confided in her? No, that was impossible. Someone like Micah would never reveal himself to an outsider.

"That's my business. If you don't know either, I'll be on my way," Nina replied coolly.

Not knowing and refusing to answer are two different things. Mr. Joker wasn't her ally and she couldn't demand answers from him.

"My boss only instructed me to do this. I know nothing else," Mr. Joker said firmly, clarifying his position. He followed Micah's orders without question.

Nina said nothing more and started to walk away, observing her surroundings as she did. She realized they were standing in a large hall. To the right was where she had been held, but on the left...

A loud thud caught her attention. A man was thrown out from the left side, landing heavily on the ground.

His body was covered in cuts and bruises, bleeding profusely. A moment later, two more men strode out, one of them delivering a vicious kick to the fallen man's body.
