Leaving those words behind, Joker turned and walked away without looking back.

However, on his way back, he suddenly felt unwell. He started coughing violently and soon tasted the metallic tang of blood in his throat.

Joker's expression changed. He hadn't expected Nash to have inflicted internal injuries on him.

Having come from the same rigorous training ground as Micah and been by his side for years, Joker rarely encountered anyone who could match him.

The recent fight with Nash had been intense. If Micah and Nina had arrived just a minute or two later, he might have ended up as Nash's defeated opponent.

Nash was incredibly skilled. If he weren't from Birkham and had a bit more ambition, he could easily be a ruler here. Thankfully, Nash's only goal seemed to be Nina.

After Joker left, Nash and Nina were alone in the room again. Nash lifted his chin slightly towards Nina, "Let me teach you."

Nina's thoughts were elsewhere. She wanted to replace Micah, but without Joker's help, she couldn't go far despite having the black card. Besides, she didn't even know where Micah lived. Seeing she wasn't moving, Nash approached her, "Stop thinking about it. Whatever comes our way, I'll protect you. With me here, I won't let them harm you."

His eyes were firm with determination. He was serious. Even if it cost him his life, he wouldn't let Nina get hurt.

"Okay," Nina replied hoarsely, her thoughts interrupted.

Nash took her hand, speaking gently, "Like this, just hook it lightly without using much force. But if you encounter someone dangerous, use all your strength. Got it?" "Got it," Nina nodded.

They stayed quietly in their small room, replaceing comfort in each other's presence without needing words. They were each other's only support.

The next afternoon, Joker came to get them. He looked worse than the day before, pale and weak.

"You have only one day today."

One day!

They needed to replace Scarlett and Scott, and with the slave camp divided into four zones, even splitting up wouldn't be enough to search in a day.

It was clearly a setup to make things difficult for them. But Nina couldn't reject the opportunity. It was their only hope of replaceing Scarlett and Scott.

Nina exchanged a look with Nash, and they understood each other immediately. Nina would search for Scarlett, while Nash would look for Scott.

Nina used a loudspeaker but still couldn't replace Scarlett. She started to realize that Scarlett's memory might have been wiped. With thousands of female slaves, replaceing Scarlett would be like searching for a needle in a haystack. She approached Mrs. Quintana, "Mrs. Quintana, I need to replace someone. She looks like..."

"Don't even think about describing her to me," Mrs. Quintana waved her hand dismissively. "I deal with so many slaves every day. Do you think I can remember each one? Do you know how exhausting that would be?"

In this place, people were treated worse than objects, but Nina didn't get discouraged. She had one day, so she would check every single person. Still, she hadn't found Scarlett.

"Mrs. Quintana, are all the people here?" Nina asked again, approaching her.

Mrs. Quintana was visibly annoyed. "What, do you want me to lay out all the injured in front of you? Should I dig up the dead ones too?"

Nina had been a thorn in her side since she arrived, and now she was trying to boss her around. If it weren't for Mr. Micah and Mr. Joker, Nina wouldn't even have the chance to stand here and talk to her.
