Claimed By My Three Alphas -
Chapter 37
AMERY
I woke up to the sound of birds chirping loudly. The sweet smell of nature grazing my nostrils, which only added to my new found excitement.
I touched my lips and my mind drifted to the incident that had happened between Asher and I, causing me to hide my furiously red cheeks in the comfort of my pillow. He had kissed me.
Asher had made me feel things that I didn't know my body was capable of feeling.
The only time I was this excited about a boy was when Sean had asked me out, but what I felt for Asher was way more different than that.
It was like he knew me, like he really knew all of me.
I thought about the kiss that we shared and my stomach fluttered. Deep down, I know that I nursed some type of feelings for him but I just couldn't give in yet.
Like it or not, we had only known each other for a short while and even though the attraction between us was evident, I just didn't think that being in a relationship with him was the right thing to do. What if I was only attracted to him because of his kindness and personality?
What if what we shared was based on lust?
So far, apart from Quincy, he was the only one who had treated me like a human being.
Just then, my subconscious reminds me that Asher had mentioned that his birthday was coming up in a few days. I crunched my face when it dawned on me that I have nothing planned out for the occasion.
I can't possibly attend their birthday ceremony as his date when I don't have a single thing to offer. What would he think of me then?
I flushed when I realized that I had zero knowledge on what to get for him or what he would like. Maybe, I would ask Quincy. He was the only sane person in their household that would actually listen to me and help me out.
If I am able to prepare a gift before the birthday then I would be able to give it to Asher before we leave for the party.
With a deep sigh, I stepped out of my dress and made for the bathroom. I spent a little more time than usual getting myself ready before deciding to start up for the day.
I stepped out from the bathroom and settled for a floral dress that I had picked up earlier. Determined to carry out my plan, I exited my bedroom and made my way towards Quincy's chambers.
Halfway through, I bumped into Levi and our bodies collided. Panic and dread filled my entire being when he looked at me with those cold eyes that always sent shivers down my spine.
I swallowed and braced myself for the worst.
He never misses an opportunity to lash at me and I was certain that today is not going to be an exception.
But to my utmost surprise, he brushed past me like nothing happened.
Perturbed, I turned to look at him.
"Really? You're just going to walk away? What happened? Did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed this morning?"
He stopped in his tracks but didn't turn to look at me. His hands were buried deep inside his pockets.
"And what do you want me to do?" He asked sternly.
"Pfft." I sneered "You're the one to talk. Don't suddenly act like a saint, Levi, or are you suddenly planning my punishment for later?"
Ignoring my remark, he resumed walking till he was out of sight. Now, this was a surprisingly new development and not at all what I had expected from Levi.
Knowing him, he'd take any chance in the world to degrade me or render me useless - but the fact that he didn't do anything of that spoke volumes.
I arrived at Quincy's room and after giving it more thought, I decided to take the bold step to knock on his door.
He opens almost immediately and he is clad in nothing but his briefs. Knowing Quincy, I never expected anything less. He was the king of mischief.
"Well, well, well..." He licked his lips at me seductively. "Look what the goddess dragged in. Today must be my lucky day." His lips twitched in an amused smile as his eyes sized me up and rested on my chest. "Good morning, Quincy." I greeted politely. I need his help and I wouldn't mind buttering him up to get what I want.
Taking a few steps towards me, he pulled me in for a hug.
"This is how to say a proper good morning, Amery." He whispered in my ears. He put his hand on my back, trailing down my back till they were settled up my bosom.
I pulled away from him at the invasion while his eyes danced mischievously.
"I need your help, Quincy, and it's very urgent." I blurted out. He leaned on the door as we watched me. "It's about Asher."
When he didn't respond, I took it as a cue to continue
"I heard that your birthday ceremony is in a few days and I want to get something for Asher but I can't decide on what to get him, so I thought of you. You're his brother so you know what he would like better than anyone. Would you help me?" I sucked in a deep breath when he didn't answer immediately.
"Of course, I would." He answered smilingly, causing me to smile as well. "I will help you with whatever you want but, first, you'd have to do something for me In return." He drawled coyly, eyes still fixed on mine.
"S-Something like what?" I forced myself to ask.
In response to my question, he stepped aside and gestured me to enter. "Let's talk about it in my bedroom. Come inside."
"...Do not go inside his room no matter what" Asher's words played in my ears and I shook my head no. I know that it's only a ploy to lure me into his bedroom so I turned him down.
He looked at me, offended and irritated by my response but tries his very best not to show it.
"Listen Amery, you were right about one thing, I know my brother's better than anyone and if you truly need my help then you must be willing to pay the price for my knowledge!" He said to me when I didn't move an inch from where I stood.
"I've told you before haven't I?" Before I could assimilate what he meant by that statement, he bridged the gap between us. I found it difficult to look away, my body choosing to betray me "I don't bite Amery." he leaned in closer, his expressive eyes, watching me keenly "I'm the best shot you have at this and your time is ticking."
I sighed deeply "What do you want from me?"
"Kiss me." He said and my eyes flew open at his sudden demand "Don't look at me like I asked you to get naked, although, I wouldn't mind if you chose to do that instead."
He grabbed my breasts and I pushed his hands away.
"Since you don't want to then, figure out a gift to give to Asher on your own." He concluded dismissively and turned to go.
"But Quincy-" The rest of my words are caught up in my throat when he slams the door on my face.
Frustrated, I am about to leave when Dalia emerges from the corner. I didn't see her walk in? Had she been listening to our conversation all these while?
Just looking at her reminded me of the night that I had caught her in Asher's room and I immediately become wary due to what I've seen the last time. I made to leave but her next words, stopped me in my tracks.
"I can help you out with planning a gift for Asher." I turned to see her playing with the hem of her dress nervously. I was right, she was eavesdropping on our conversation.
"What did you say?" I pretended to be clueless.
"I overheard your conversation with the third prince and I would like to help you out." She repeated, confirming that I had heard her say earlier.
"And why do you think that I would agree to you helping me?" I asked with folded arms.
"I know that you don't trust me Amery and I don't blame you for that." He breathed out "I wouldn't trust myself either. Asher made me realize that I was wrong for what had happened that day and I promised him that I would apologize and ask for your forgiveness so this is me, asking you to forgive me Amery." Her eyes burned with tears threatening to fall. She looked remorseful and I could see her sincerity through her tears.
"I want to prove to you that I am truly sorry and never meant to cause any harm."
"You don't have to believe me but I really hope that you will and about the gift, there's a market just outside the mansion where you can get all types of exquisite things and I'm pretty sure that we would be able to replace something suitable for Asher." She added in a low voice.
"I just wanted to tell you that." She turned to leave but I stopped her.
"Wait!" I called out to her "I forgive you Dalia and yes, I would definitely need your help with this."
She smiled genuinely "Alright. The market usually opens up at noon so let's meet up then. I would make the necessary arrangements."
I nodded once "Thank you Dalia. You're a lifesaver." I smiled at her and made my way back to my bedroom.
