"I'm sorry that you have to witness this Mr and Mrs Hunter. I cannot begin to imagine the depth of pain that you must be going through at the moment. We all never expected this from Amery and it's breaking my heart that she did this and that was why I had no other choice but to inform you about what had happened." The principal said after conveying all that had happened to Amery's parents.

Amery's parents arrived at school as quickly as they got the call from the principal asking them to come. She had just finished emptying her locker when they stepped inside. With teary eyes, she ran into her mother's embrace and held onto her as though her life depended on it. The look on her father's face told her that he was indeed disappointed and it made her feel worse. She was already sad that they had to show up here to face further humiliation for a crime that she didn't even commit and now this. "Everything will be fine baby." Her mother cooed softly in an attempt to calm her down. "We're here and I promise that everything will be fine."

They were escorted to the principal's office where they discussed about what had led to this and the suitable punishment to give to her concerning the matter at hand.

"Is there any way to wave off the expulsion?" Her father spoke up in a bid to negotiate with the principal and come to some sort of agreement. "You see, she has been missing for a couple of weeks and it hasn't been too long since she was discharged from the hospital. I don't want her to go through another phase of depression because of this. So please, is there anything we can do?" Read more interesting novels on Narugi.com.

"I'm sorry Mr Hunter." She laid him down easy. "Being in possession of drugs or any harmful substance is much serious as any criminal offense. She should be lucky that we are deciding to wave this off amicably without involving the police. She could go to juvenile prison because of this."

Amery held onto her mother's hands and squeezed tightly. The tears stung her eyes and the more she tried to reel them back in, the more it rolls down her cheeks.

"She didn't just bring the drugs to school but she sold it to guys at the basketball team. They all confessed that she did right before we found them in her locker." The principal continued while Amery's father fell back to his chair looking defeated. "Do you have anything to say for yourself Amery?" He asked after a brief pause of silence.

"I didn't do anything wrong." She whispered hurtfully. Her eyes had gone from red to swollen in a matter of minutes for crying so hard. "I never brought those drugs to school and I never sold them to anymore. They've obviously set me up and instead of investigating the issue, they're trying to pin it on me."

Her father looked conflicted. Almost like he had been driven to the wall.

"You don't believe me do you?" She proceeded to ask when he didn't say anything more. "Just like them you also don't believe as well right? You also think that I did it as well didn't you? You think that I deserve to be punished right?"

"Amery stop this." Her mother tried to stop her from exploding. "You can't talk to your father that way. And certainly not in the presence of all these people"

She shook her head. "No. He's not my father. His actions today has proven that he isn't my father. Ever since you came here, not once has he tried to defend me mom. He looks at me as if he doesn't even trust me. You know that I would never do something like that but he doesn't even believe that." She sniveled as series of hiccups flew through her mouth as she spoke.

"Amery, we trust you. Your father and I know that you didn't do anything and that you're innocent."

"Would you stop taking her side?" Her father yelled at her mother angrily. "You keep petting her and that's why she turned out like this. First, she was suspended from school and now she's on the verge of getting expelled and you're still taking her side." He banged his fists on the table as his lips twitched in anger.

"It hasn't been proven that she did. These are nothing but mere allegations that hasn't been proven right." Her mother said in her defense. "And besides, she's my daughter so I'll have to stand by her. Who's going to be by her side if you give up like this." "Your love for her is blinding your eyes from seeing the truth Amelia. She keeps doing all of this because she knows that no matter what happens, you're going to cave and give in to her demands." He spat fiercely.

"She keeps on doing all of this on purpose. Last night, she didn't return home and now we got to hear that she's dealing on drugs. What next? That she murdered someone unknowingly?"

Amery sat down speechless and short of words. This was the very first time in ages that she had seen her father talk to her in such manner. She could've swore that ever since she came back, he had been distant and just hearing him say all these mean things to her has actually proven a point to her and cleared her doubts.

"Would you..." She paused. "Would you have said all of this If I were your child?" She asked suddenly taken him aback. "Wouldn't you have tried your best to defend me or try to get to the bottom of this if indeed I was your child?"

"You don't have to play the victim game Amery" He shunned her. "The drugs were found in your locker were they not? And the fact that you're not even my child is already making me question all my life decisions at this very moment." "Richard!" Her mom yelled at him while everyone, including the principal looked on. "How can you say such a thing to her? Amery is our child."

"Your child Amelia. You insisted on bringing her into our lives despite all my warnings and now look at where it's gotten us. We're not only the laughingstock of our entire neighborhood but her school as well. We really should be crowned the twenty first parents of the century." He countered. They all sat quiet, letting his words sink in.

"What's my punishment ma'am." Amery faced the principal at last.

"Expulsion. The board and I have already decided that we can no longer tolerate your actions in this school so it'll be best if we let you go." She said and Amery nodded in agreement.

"Let's go mom."

"But surely we can do something about it-"

"It's alright mom." She stopped her mother from pleading. "They won't listen to anything you have to say no matter how much you tell them. They've already made up their minds so let's just go home now, please. I can enroll in another school if I wanted to so let's just go."

"Okay."

They stood up from their seats and made to leave when the door to the office flew open and Quincy barged in unannounced.

"Q-Quincy?" She called out surprised. Wondering what on earth he was doing coming in like that.

"Amery didn't do it." He broke up the silence. "Those drugs aren't hers. They're mine and I was the one responsible for selling it to the guys from the basketball team."

"This is a serious confession mister Stark. Are you sure that you're not doing this to cover for her?"

He laughed. "Why would I cover for her when I barely know her. I just don't want her taking the blame for something that I did." He held a serious look devoid of any emotions whatsoever.

"Quincy?" She called out for the second time but he simply ignored and continued.

"I sold those drugs to the guys in the basketball team and if there's anyone who should be expelled then it's me and not Amery."

"He's lying. He didn't do it and neither did I." Amery tried to save him from pulling himself into her mess. She wouldn't be able to forgive herself if he took the fall for something that he never even did in the first place.

"My brother Levi is in the basketball team and that was how I got access to the guys as well. They are his friends as well as his teammates so it was easy for me to do what I did and besides, Amery is just being polite that's all. I'm the mischievous one and she has nothing to do with this so let her go." He pressed on.

"I still have to check in with the board and-"

He scoffed. "You worked so fast to give out punishment to a girl simply because an anonymous person tipped you off and I'm here In person to confess to my crimes and suddenly you want the board's help? Are you sure you're even the principal of this school or just a puppet being controlled by her master?"

"Watch your tongue mister Stark. I will not have you insult me in my office."

He laughed. "I'm just saying. Only a puppet follows the words of her master or did they pay you off to have her expelled?"

"That's it!" She hit the table angrily. "You are hereby expelled mister Quincy Stark. Now get out of my office!" She shouted at him but he only did a peace sign before walking away with his shoulders held high.
