Claimed By My Three Alphas -
Chapter 87
Quincy was on his way to his locker when he felt someone drag him from behind. He stopped abruptly in his steps when he is concerned by a crying and angry Amery who looks like she would murder him any minute from now.
The rapid rise and fall of her chest and the angry pursing of her lips told him that he was in deep trouble if not bigger. He looked at her and a mixture of guilt, regret and sadness washed over him all at once but he wouldn't dare to show it. Not when she was like this. She looked like she was about to cry for the fifteenth time and if he should become vulnerable at this moment, he would only make her worse and it wouldn't do him any good either.
"You look like crocodile when crying or is it an alligator?" He paused to make a joke but his head tilted to the side narrowly. "What's that animal that cries when he's being mischievous and hungry? You know the one the English teacher talked about during class. Or was it a reptile?"
Amery slapped him. For a minute there, neither of them said a word to each other. He lifted up his face slowly to look at her and his lips stretched into a smile as he rubbed his bruised cheeks that she had just assaulted. "Do you feel better now?" He asked but she shook her head no. Tears falling freely.
He breathed into the air and tucked his hands deep inside his pockets. "You're the first girl to slap me without me retaliating. Should I take it as a sign to hit you first?" He corked his brows at her.
Amery struggled to understand how and why he looked so calm and reserved about everything that had happened while she was practically breaking apart in front of him. He just took the blame for something that he didn't do, he was about to get expelled for it as well and yet he was acting as if nothing had even happened. How could he be so bored and carefree? And since when did Quincy turn into a selfless being that took the blame for other's deeds? "You are so..." She trailed off but with a quick pause and raised up her hands to hit him again when she noticed Levi staring at her from the far end of the hallway with a confused expression on his face.
He looked at her as though he had something to say to her as well. She wondered if he had maybe seen the video that was circulating around school. This was why she never wanted to get involved with them in the first place. If she hadn't gotten into a fight with Quincy that landed her in detention, she wouldn't have found herself in the gym that day to have a fight with the boys that had now decided to take it upon themselves to frame her for something that she didn't do. All these things were happening because they came into her life for the second time.
Levi took a step forward and when she noticed it she averted her gaze. Considering what happened to them last night in his bedroom, she had thought that it was better that she avoided him completely so taking Quincy's hands In hers, she practically dragged him out of the hallway and towards the exit of the school premises.
She let go almost immediately when they were alone at a private area.
"How did you replace out about this?" Was the first question that escaped her lips when she gained a little bit of composure. "Did you see the video making rounds In the school as well?"
Quincy watched her speak. He let her without saying a word or interrupting her. He knew that she was hurting but he didn't know how to help or put her out of her misery. This was the very first time in his entire life that he was showing compassion. It wasn't his style and he definitely wasn't used to it but what could he do?
He had arrived earlier in school today in hopes of seeing her but then he noticed that she wasn't in class. At first, he had thought that she had not arrived or might be busy doing something else but that was before he had gotten to school to hear rumors and whispers flying around about something strange and despicable that had happened to Amery.
One of the girls who had heard the news had rushed inside the classroom to gossip about it to her friends and that's when he became alarmed. Normally, he wouldn't pry or try to be invested in a matter like this but it was Amery and be had no choice but to tune into his wolf ears so that he could hear them properly and that's when the issue about what had happened to her and the possible expulsion that might be given to her struck to him.
Deep down, he knew that she didn't do it. He knew that Amery was innocent of all accusations that was labelled against her. She was like a saint that could never do wrong even when the bad was in front of her and that was why it surprised him to hear that she had been accused of committing such an act. If it were Levi, he would readily believe but Amery? Not a chance.
"Quincy!" She yelled at him and he snapped back from his reverie. How could he zone out on her in such a time like this one. "How did you replace out about this? And why did you take the fall for my mistake?" She questioned. "You might be a lot of things Quincy but I know that you didn't do it."
Hearing her say those words to him, fluttered his chest in a good way. She was the only person who believed that he had some goodness left inside him. She was the only person who trusted him blindly even when other's didn't.
"I didn't do it and neither did you so why on earth should you take the blame for something that you didn't do?" He questioned, his eyes darkening in rage.
"I want you to go back inside and I want you to tell the principal that you're innocent and that you only said what you said because you wanted to take the blame for me. I want you to do everything you can to convince her that you're innocent and that you didn't do anything wrong." She ordered in a stern voice but he only looked at her as if she had grown a second pair of head.
"And why would I agree to do something as stupid as that?" He queried.
"Do you have any idea what just happened right now? You've been expelled Quincy, like you're not coming back to this place ever again." She said to him but he only shrugged his shoulders.
"So be it then. I never liked school in the first place and it wasn't even my idea to come here. It was all Asher and Levi." He blurted out. "This will actually give me enough time to continue with my drawings when I'm free and also explore the city too"
"Why on earth are you doing this?" Amery asked, wiping off the tears on her face aggressively. She was beyond hurt and she wasn't even trying to hide it. This was the first time that he was trying to stand up for her and she was upset because he was doing it for the wrong reasons too.
"I'm not doing anything that I shouldn't do Amery." He became serious again. "I might have been a jerk because that was how I portrayed myself to you. I made you feel as if I wasn't capable of showing any emotion or affection to anyone at all which isn't true. Last night made me realize that we weren't so different from each other. You listened to all my problems with an open mind and not once did you try to point fingers at me or try to judge me."
"You're a good person Amery and you've been through a lot as well. Besides, I don't think that you should go through something like this again for the second time. So call me stupid and call me crazy but I don't regret what I did and I'm happy that I could do something like that for you because you deserve it."
"Quincy..." Her voice croaked and broke down into uncontrollable tears.
"And you should know that this isn't free. You still need to pay me for it." He told her and she slowly nodded her head. "To thank me for being such a superman" He adjusted his sleeves "I want you to make sure that you visit me every single day at home. No exceptions and-"
Before he could say anything more, she silenced him by running into his arms and hugging him tight. He staggered a few step backwards as he tried to steady himself.
"Thank you so much Quincy. Thank you." She whispered over and over again. In response, he hugged her back as they both stood there reveling in the moment.
