CONTRACTLY, IT'S YOU -
5 - FAMILY DINNER
We arrived at his mansion. As soon as I got inside, I paused, confused at the young lady standing in the living room.
"Good day, Mrs Winson. I'll be your stylist. Please come with us," I arched my brow. 'Us' I looked to my left and found two other blondies in an all-black standing so professionally.
Forty-five minutes later. We arrived at Kai's father's mansion. I panicked because whenever his father saw him, he always seemed unhappy while I was around.
"Are you sure it's a great plan to bring me to your father's birthday? I mean, you know how much he dislikes me. It's like bringing my enemy to my party, I'd be so pissed." I said with a nervous laugh. "Then that's good."
I looked at Kai, who stared out the window. His side of the door opened, and he got out. I took a deep breath in, holding my breath as they opened my side of the door.
Kai walked to me, offering his arms. I locked my arms around him as we walked into the Mansion. The door to the mansion opened, and we were immediately greeted by silence. A dramatic long silence I wanted it to end as soon as possible. "Oh, you must be Tiffany," a young man in a blue suit walked to me. He extended his hands for a shake, breaking the silence.
I looked up at Kai and realized he was glaring. While his stepmother didn't seem impressed with the attitude. He must be Kai's stepbrother- Conrad Winson. I've heard a few stories about him. "Yeah, Tiffany. Conrad, I surmise?" I shook his hands.
He looked impressed. "Do we look so much alike?" He blushed. "I was told that a lot as a kid."
I nodded. "Is that so?"
"If you excuse us," Kai said, taking me further into the hall. There, I spotted his father and stepmother glaring at me. I immediately plastered a smile while he approached them.
"Happy birthday, Father," Kai said. Mr Nolan shifted his gaze to me, and I bowed slightly.
"I see you're here," Mr Nolan said.
"We are about to have dinner now. You came at the right time," Kate Winson- Kai's stepmother said. She's beautiful, strawberry blond, brown eyes and pale skin.
I held her gaze, smiling at her as she did so. She looked away from her husband-Nolan Winson.
Kai nodded, and we walked to the garden where the dinner was held. I thought it was going to be a big party. But it was just a family dinner. Everything was so luxurious that I questioned my gown.
There wasn't anyone I was going to compete with, though. I smiled in my heart at the thought. I had already seen Kai's ex-wife. She's quite intimidating, my gaze held him and I realized that they did fit perfectly. Why did they divorce?
The table was filled with so many foods, some I didn't even know existed. In the middle of the golden-like table, a tall blue and white decorated cake sat beautifully.
I held my excitement. They all didn't seem excited to see the food. Kai escorted me to a chair and pulled the chair for me. I was about to sit down when I heard Kate yell.

"No, not there, I reserved that seat for someone," she darted around.
I turned to Kai, but his cold eyes glimmered with confusion. "What do you mean my wife can't sit next to me?"
"Uh," Kate blinked and turned to Nolan. I stood up, adjusting my dress.
"We have someone more important," Nolan said. I carefully stepped out of the position reserved for this person so important.
I stood behind Kai, my fingers fiddling with my bag handle. The room went silent, and everyone sat quietly on their designated chair while Kai faced his father.
"I told you I was coming with my wife,"
"And I got that. She can sit beside Conrad," Nolan said.
I looked at Conrad, and he seemed too amused with the idea of his brother's wife sitting beside him.
Then, you can excuse us. Happy birthday, Father," Kai said. My eyes flared open. Was he seriously leaving? After all the process I went through to look like this? He grabbed my wrist about to leave, but I stopped, giggling nervously. My heart raced erratically. I shouldn't be doing this, but I was. I walked closer to Mr Nolan and bowed my head slightly.

"Forgive me for this. But Kai isn't one to sit away from me, as he likes me to hold onto certain things for him," I said, taking out Kai's phone. I had stolen seconds ago.
Mr Nolan's hatred for me has always made it so difficult to convince him.
He sighed and looked at Kate. My eyes narrowed towards her also. The moment she saw me, she cleared her throat, acting busy.
"You can sit with him," Mr Nolan said. I smiled, but my smile didn't last for long, as the maid announced.
"Miss Francesca has arrived,"
Kai took my hands and directed me to the chair I had fought for. He pulled the chair out once I had sat down. He adjusted it and sat beside me.
I looked at the lady the maid had just introduced. Her face was brighter than the sun as she came running to hug Kai's father. Behind her, a young lady followed with a huge box.
"Oh, I got you something, Father. Happy birthday," she said, dropping the box. "It's the rarest ginseng tea,"
"Welcome, my love," Mr Nolan said cheerfully.
I don't know who she was, but she was beating everyone's present with that. Her gaze shifted to Kai, and the room went silent.
"Oh, you're here," She said, laughing.
Francesca wore a silver gown. Soft black hair in a wavy curl and grey eyes, and her steps were gentle and elegant. She walked towards Kai, who was still standing and hugged him. My eyes gaped, and I immediately lowered them, staring at the disgusting fish served in front of me. How ugly could this family dinner get?
