Chapter 146 She's My Sister

Even though Bella felt she wasn't really at fault, a strange sense of nervousness still washed over her. When she walked into the living room, she tried to act natural and greet Dominic

#1 heard you didn't go to the office this afternoon. That's race for someone as busy as you."

Domine looked up at her and said, "Come here."

Bella felt uneasy as she approached him. Without saying a word, Dominic grabbed her handbag and rummaged through it until he pulled out the birth control pills. He stared at the label, his expression was hard to read.

The jo seconds of silence felt agonizing for Bella. She braced herself for the impending storm, but in the end, all Dominic did was toss the pills into the trash. "Stop taking those," he said before heading upstairs.

Bella stared at the trash can, feeling a little conflicted. Perhaps that was for the best. Since he had said that, it seemed like he would be more mindful in the future to try and avoid those kinds of things in the future. That was exactly what she wanted anyway.

But after that happened, Dominic seemed to go back to how he used to be. They retumed to barely interacting even though they lived under the same roof. During the day, they each focused on their own work At night, they were separated by walls-emotionally and physically.

The only thing that seemed to connect them was Pudding. The dog was blissfully unaware of the changes between them. She continued to seek their attention, happily bouncing between them every day.

On the weekend, Bella and Dominic were both home, but they tactfully avoided each other. They didn't eat at the same table, and they didn't spend time together in the garden.

It dawned on Bella that this was what people called a cold war.

Around noon, a sleek black Maybach pulled up in front of Miller Manor. When Bella beard the sound, she walked to the bedroom window to check

It was an unfamiliar car. She had never seen it before.

A driver quickly stepped out and ran to open the rear door. Then, a man and a woman got out. The woman was Amber, and the man was a stem-looking middle-aged man who bore a strong resemblance to her, making their relationship clear.

Bella knew she shouldn't be seen, so she quietly closed the window. Then, she put on her headphones and started her yoga routine. Pudding stayed by her side, obedient as ever

Downstairs, Dominic sat on the living room couch. He was dressed in a crisp suit and was waiting for Amber and her father to enter. From the cold look on his face, it was obvious he wasn't thrilled about today's meeting

Sylvia escomed Amber and her father into the living room and served them drinks.

Amber's father, Frederick Yates, glanced around with a smile. "Dominic, where's Pulding? Amber said she's here with you. I haven't seen her in over a month. Dominic was unsure of Pudding's whereabouts, and he was about to answer when Sylvia spoke up first, "She's probably with Ms. Jones in her room. Pudding loves playing with her. I'll check and being her down."

""Ms. Jones?

Amber's expression darkened at the mention that Pudding loved playing with Bella. She muttered, "Dad, you don't know the full story, so don't ask "

Frederick sensed there was more to the situation, and he looked at Dominic. "I've been wondering, who is Ms. Jones to you? I hear she's living here in the manor with you. When you and Amber broke up, I thought it was just young people having their differences. But could it be

Dominic glanced coolly at Amber. "She's my sister."

Frederickimmediately relaxed and breathed a sigh of relief. "I see. It's your family."

Bella clearly heard Dominic's words as she stood at the top of the stairs with Fudding. Suddenly, she didn't have the courage to go downstairs anymore.

She gently patted Pudding's head and whispered, "Go down by yourself. Your owner is waiting for you."
