Lost in thought, Bella's movements slowed as she gently applied ointment to Dominic's

wound.

Her soft fingertips massaged the skin around the injury with such care that she didn't even notice Dominic watching her intently the entire me.

The past few days felt like she was back to her old, hectic schedule from when she'd been juggling multiple jobs.

Taking care of Dominic wasn't easy. In fact, it was more exhausting than her shifts at the hospital. She barely had time to see friends like Lia.

A couple of days later, Bella came across an article on her phone about Amber's upcoming wedding.

Amber's engagement meant that the Yates family's crisis had been averted, and the key lay in the man she was marrying. Clearly, Amber was rushing into this marriage to save the Yates family, sacrificing herself to keep it afloat. Bella wondered if Amber hadn't saved Dominic back then, would it have come to this? It was obvious that in those two and a half years together, Amber had truly fallen for him.

The whole world knew about Amber's engagement, so Dominic surely knew as well. But he hadn't mentioned it as if nothing had happened.

Bella kept an eye on him throughout the day. Other than working in his study and occasionally flipping through a magazine, he didn't do much else. He seemed so calm that it almost felt unnatural...

Bella felt like he was just pretending to be unaffected. After all, he and Amber were together

With a sniff, she asked quietly, "Who is she marrying?"

Dominic glanced at her and replied, "The son of the man I killed. It's the only way the Yates family can prove it's not some kind of conspiracy"

Bella was stunned. "Then... will they let you go?"

He remained as calm as ever. "That's not something you should worry about. Just focus on your dinner."

Bella didn't dare press further, but every time she saw Pudding, she couldn't help thinking of Amber. As much as she disliked her, part of her also felt sorry for Amber.

These powerful families really did treat marriage as a bargaining chip-the Yates family did, and the Sawyer family did too.
