Simon didn't pressure her further, most likely because he feared she might reconsider.
Afterward, he mentioned that his wife's relatives didn't believe he had a daughter and insisted on meeting her. They even wanted a paternity test, which required Bella's cooperation.
She agreed to the paternity test and refused to entertain anything else as she didn't have time to deal with those people.
During her lunch break, she went with Simon to carry out the test, but the results would take a few days.
Bella secretly wished the test would reveal that they weren't biologically related. At least then, it would provide some redemption for her and her mother's awful life. But deep down, she knew it was impossible. Her cold and sinusitis hadn't improved despite taking medication throughout the day. She felt tired all day, but thankfully, no important surgeries were scheduled. Otherwise, she would've been in trouble.
After coming home from work, she didn't even eat dinner. She took her medicine and collapsed onto the bed.
She had no idea how much time had passed when she sensed someone entering her room and touching her forehead. Assuming it was Sylvia, she muttered, "I'm okay. I took medicine, and I'll be fine after some sleep." Instead of Sylvia, a voice mocked her, "How did you manage to survive this long?"
Upon hearing Dominic's voice, Bella forced herself to awaken and open her eyes. "I'm okay..."
He pulled her out of bed. "You've got a fever. Get up and go to the hos

She sat on the bed and felt the fever run throughout her body. She wa body was unbearably hot. She couldn't sweat it off, so the fever was pretty severe. She had no strength to move and nearly fainted again. He supported her and stooped down to help her put on her slippers. "Let's go."
Bella struggled out of bed, but her legs were weak, and she fell into his arms. In an instant, she could feel his solid chest and powerful heartbeat. Her brain lapsed, and she remained in that posture with her face buried against him.
Left with no choice, Dominic lifted her and brought her downstairs. As they walked down the stairs, she noticed he was breathing heavily and recalled something. She instantly struggled to break free and apologized, "I'm sorry. I forgot about your injury. How do you feel? Does it hurt?"
He didn't respond but merely grimaced as he carried her down the stairs. She didn't notice the

faint layer of sweat on his forehead which was obviously not from feeling tired.
At the hospital, Bella was put on an IV drip. She hadn't expected her condition to be this serious. It was in the middle of the night, and there weren't many people in the infusion room, so Dominic stayed with her.
She couldn't fight her drowsiness and leaned against him as she fell into a deep sleep. He held her hand gently, afraid that she might move her arm and disturb the IV.
up, she Her fever had gone down by daylight, and she felt much better. When she woke realized the IV had long since finished, and the needle had been removed, yet Dominic hadn't woken her.
In that instant, a wave of emotion ran through her. She wondered whether she could replace excuse not to leave him. However, after a long period, she couldn't replace any.

On the way back to the car, he seemed tired, so she offered to drive, and he didn't object. She suggested he rest for a bit, but he kept his eyes on her as she drove, clearly skeptical of her driving skills and perhaps even fearing for his life.
Realizing they were staring at each other, she broke the silence and said, "You know, you can be pretty gentle sometimes. The woman who marries you in the future will be fortunate. If you can be this nice to someone you don't like, I'm sure you'd treat someone you care about very well."
