Chapter 6

In the past, I would always fight with Xavier whenever he found an excuse to see Chloe.

But now that I've let go, I realize how pointless / was.

They've always wanted to be together.

What was I doing trying to keep them apart?

I used to take pride in our eight-year relationship.[]

Now I see it was just a one-person show.

After that day, Xavier didn't come home or contact me for days.[]

But I kept seeing updates from Chloe on social media.[]

"Xavier took me to the amusement park today. It reminded me of our childhood."[]

"I feel so safe with Xavier by my side. You're all jealous, right?"]

It was like she was afraid I didn't know she was with him.]

I couldn't care less about those two, focusing on learning about the Crawford market.[]

One night, I was working late at the office when Xavier called.]

"You're still at the office this late?"]

I knew he was home, so I calmly replied.[]

"I'm working late. What's up?"]

There was a moment of silence, then Xavier sighed.[]

"Ariella, I think.... something's not right with our relationship. Can we talk? I'll pick you up."]

"No need. I'll take a cab home."

I had learned enough about the Crawford market.

Once my visa came through, I was heading there.

It was time to have a serious talk with Xavier.
