Falling For My Playboy Boss -
Chapter 106
Cora's
POV
It is still early actually, and my parents were going to stay home, and not come to the hospital this trip, but Marlowe and Alderidge would be coming in today, and Marlowe had bought car seats for the babies too. Collin had given his keys to his car to Dalton to drive home after the "fashion show fiasco" and when they came to visit us, Dalton had driven it to the hospital and given the keys back to Collin and rode back home with Iris. Collin told me to call his mom and tell her to just come to my parent's house as we were leaving earlier than expected. Thomas stayed with me while Collin told the nurses to give him 5 minutes to get the car to the entrance to the hospital before bringing me out. Thomas carried all my things as I already had the bag packed up, as well as my flowers and balloons. He looked cute carrying it all as he followed us out of the hospital, to where Collin was waiting. Everyone that we passed looked at the babies and smiled big at me. I was happy too and grinned back at them as well. Thomas put the stuff he was holding down and handed the balloons off to the nurse to hold for a minute, to help Collin get the babies buckled into their car seats, as Collin couldn't do it with his arm in the sling. Collin then went to help me in the car. Thomas grabbed my items off the ground, as well as the balloons, from the nurse and told Collin to give him five minutes and he would be coming out of the parking garage and headed off to go get his SUV. I was surprised that he had already purchased and installed the car seats in his Mercedes, and he told me he did it the day he broke it off with Maddie. He drove slower than he normally drives as he drives us home and I appreciated him doing it, as I was a little anxious for them as we went home. Collin pulls up the driveway and pulls up to my parent's car in the garage, and Thomas pulls in behind him and gets out to bring the stuff in. I got out and unbuckled Adam, who was behind my seat, and handed him to Collin to carry and go over and get Abi next for me to carry her in. I was totally surprised to see that the living room was full of people and presents, as I hadn't seen any cars sitting outside. My mom and Marlowe step forward and get a baby each and go to sit down next to their husbands to coo at the babies as Collin and I are escorted to chairs next to each other near the mountain of presents. Iris and Ava take turns bringing us the gifts and cleaning up the wrapping paper, saving the bags for me to reuse because I love to do that, and Livi sits next to me and writes down who gave what to us. I know Marlowe has got to be responsible for the majority of the pile of presents, and I wasn't wrong. Livi had a whole page dedicated to Marlowe and Alderidge. But Livi, Iris, and Ava had also started buying things for the baby as well, as soon as they had found out that I was pregnant. Mom had gotten cupcakes made up as she knew I liked homemade, and there were also store-bought treats and pastries there as well; ham and cheese Hawaiian bread sliders, chicken salad, egg salad, BBQ sliders dropped off with the presents from the fire department, who wanted to be there but had to work, chips, dips, meat and cheese tray and several different kinds of nuts. They had gone all out with this, and I made a mental note to take whatever hadn't been handled in the kitchen, because there was more in the kitchen for the fire department for them to have. We have got everything we needed and some things that I needed and didn't even know that they made, like a pillow that wraps around you so you can feed the babies at the same time, which was brilliant, so many socks, and pieces of clothing, which was promptly undone from the hanger, or unhooked from the plastic band, and put in a pile to go and be washed in the baby detergent that I had also been given. Every single thing that I needed, and had stressed over needing, had been delivered to me. I started crying at everything that I had been given and had gotten up and hugged everyone who was able to come and made a mental note to hug the ones that had to be at work today and couldn't come because it was Monday. I used my new feeding pillow for the twins and it helped me out. I loved it and got the babies fed and changed, and ready to go. The girls helped me load up the washer and get the first load washing. We also loaded up everything that had been in the kitchen and packed it up to take to the fire department.
I got the double stroller out and we headed to the fire department on foot, as it was only three blocks away. They were all there as there were no emergencies at that time, so they were all there to speak with us, and they appreciated the food and getting to see the babies. Adam showed off his namesake to every single one of the people there and they had all heard about how Collin could have died. Several of the EMTs there told me that it was everyone's knee-jerk reaction to someone who had been stabbed, to want to pull the knife out, it was a natural reaction, and not to feel bad about thinking about helping him. Ava had gone over to hold hands with Jacob when I saw Collin giving him the stink eye. I bumped him on the shoulder and greeted Jacob, and introduced him to Collin, as this was just his second time seeing Jacob. The first time was at the hospital, and I don't think he really noticed him then. I gave Collin a hug and I whispered in his ear, "Jacob is a good man, and Ava really likes him. Don't scare him off, be nice to him, or Ava will let you have it the whole way back home". I see him look over at Ava, and he gets the message quickly. I saw Michael and Anna standing at the side of the circle and grinning at us. Michael is clearly possessive of Anna and is keeping her on the side where there are no men, and it is the cutest thing. Anna grins at me, and I see all is good in her world, and Michael hasn't even looked at me this whole time, so he now has the woman he wants and loves back with him. I went to test the water with Michael and called over to Anna, "If I ever need to take a show off, I now know where to replace my replacement". Before Anna could draw a breath to answer me.
Michael says, "Sorry, Cora, Anna's modeling days are over. I don't want her to get her own "fan club". She is with me from now on. We are officially together now".
Anna winks at me and gives Michael a hug to calm him down, because he is now eyeballing the other men standing there, who already know that Anna and Michael are together, like one of them is going to come up and take her away from him. I am so happy for them both. I will have to see if they want to come to the show at the end of July, so Michael keeps a reminder that he doesn't want Anna back up on the runway. She truly looked stunning, and she could probably make a go of it modeling.
It was time to feed the babies again, so we told everyone goodbye and headed over to the side of the fire station. They had let Marlowe and Alderidge park their SUV there after they unloaded it at my parent's house. Ava was parked next to it, and Jacob and driven her and her parents back to my parent's house. Iris had parked there too, so Collin drove his parent's car back after I buckled the babies into the back seat and folded the stroller into the back. Ava and Iris also brought their vehicles back as well, so they could just leave when they got through visiting. We all started to head home for me to feed the babies. I am going to use the new twin nursing pad again because it worked really well for me the first time.
My mom and Marlowe both came in and got the babies as soon as I was done burping and changing them and told me and Collin to go take a nap and that they would wake us up for the next feeding. We got a three-hour nap and when we woke up, we were amazed at all that they had gotten done.
While my dad and Alderidge held the babies, they had finished the rest of the laundry and our moms had changed out and started a new load while we were at the fire station. They had folded all their laundry and carried everything up to the second floor and loaded everything up where it was supposed to go. The changing tables were both stocked and had about 5 onesies for each on their prospective table, sitting at the side for accidents, and ready to go. Stacks of wipes and diapers were sitting on the second shelf and several large packs of diapers and wipes were on the bottom storage shelf, for me to pull up when they were needed and then reload later. All of their clothes had been hung up neatly in the closet with Adam's on one side and Abi's on the other and they even had some little shoes on a shoe rack in the center of the closet floor. The extra diapers, wipes, and bigger items were on either side of the shoe rack and the top two shelves on their dressers had been filled with more onesies, burp cloths, and extra bedding that was washed and ready to go. I had a diaper genie that was stationed between their beds, and everything looked perfect. This would have taken me so long to do, and I am so grateful to my family for doing this for me and letting us rest because Collin was still re- cooperating from being really hurt, and I had just given birth. They all showed up and helped out so much. I started crying and went and hugged all five of them for all their help. Collin also hugged and thanked them all too. He has changed a lot, as I had never seen him thank anyone for anything, this was something new, and frankly, I was glad to see it. It shows how far he has really come, and that he is actually trying to make changes. I will keep an eye on him, but, I think that he is becoming the man I want to spend the rest of my life with.
