Chloe's POV

Lucas came back after his shower and sat with me and ate his food, all of it, boy can eat. We werewatching Loki, the third episode and it had just finished when he turned to me and took my hand,that's when I knew he was ready to talk and my heart jumped and I felt nervous.

"Clo, do you know anything about your birth parents?”

I stared at him and could see the want in his eyes, the hopefulness that I do, I put my head down "Ionly know their names, how they died, and I was born, nothing more” I shook my head and peeredup to him and he was looking at me, sadness in his eyes "They got into a car accident when mymother was 9 months pregnant with me, my father got out of the car and they said he was attackedby something that came out of the woods, as if maybe it was what he avoided hitting and causedthe wreck. My mother was weak and went into labor when the police got there and they rushed herto the hospital where she died after giving birth to me. Their names were" he cut me off "Theirnames were Sarah and John Monroe" he looked down and away from me, almost as if he was aboutto cry "Yes, how... how did you know that?" I was staring at him and he looked back to my with tearsfilling his eyes "I've heard so many stories about them over the years, the tragedy behind losingthem, John was my father's best friend, they grew up together their entire lives. he and his wife hadgone away to have their baby in a cabin now to far from here, they were going to have a naturalbirth and then spend the first month of their daughter's life bonding before coming back home tointroduce her to everyone” I was in shock and just staring at him with tears rolling down my facequietly "They had an accident and when my father found Sarah she had passed during childbirthand there was no speak of their daughter, no one knew what had happened to her or if she waseven alive. We got up and went downstairs to the first floor and walked behind the stairs to a series of doors.The one directly behind the stairs I came to replace out was his father's office, Lucas knocked andopened the door, I hesitated because I was still yet to meet his father even though I met his motherand she was wonderful, as I walked inside and his father looked up from his desk he made eyecontact with me and sat there, dumbfounded, like seeing a ghost. "Sarah?" then he shook his headand apologized "I'm so sorry, I thought, I'm sorry. Hello, I'm Micheal, Lucas and Austen's father”"Chloe, it's wonderful to meet you" I nodded my head to him he was still staring at me with curiosityin his eyes when Lucas spoke "Father, Chloe was the daughter of Sarah and John, she was adoptedby the woman that helped deliver her when Sarah begged her to keep her safe before she passed"Lucas's dad couldn't take his eyes off of me when it looked as if his eyes completely glossed overbefore going back to normal “Callie what's with the people here and their eyes changing so much,do they all have crazy people in their head like what you did to my eyes?" "Chloe, I would really love to do some blood work with the doctor on you to make sure you aretheir child, if you would allow this, not that I am doubting because when you walked in I swore I waslooking at your mother, except you have your father's eyes and hair. I don't want to be intrusive butit's always good to check and be positive. Now this won't change your status of living here in thishome, you are family no matter what now. How would you feel about this?" I blinked and wasshocked and couldn't seem to replace words when Lucas chimed in "Dad I had blood work done on herwhen she first got here, Anabel will still have sample, with Chloe's permission we can use thatsample to check” They both looked to me and I nodded in approval and then his eyes glossed overagain and back, he smiled brightly at me and came around to hug me. "Your father was my beta..best friend from childhood, there was no one in this world I ever trusted more and having you herefeels like having a piece of him back in our lives. How lucky we are to have you here with us. Lucasyou better take the best care of her that you can, you hear me" Lucas nodded with a giant smileupon his face and took my hand "Nothing would make me happier father" His father lookedbetween the 2 of us and smiled "Okay, off you go, I have work that needs to be done, and Chloe,my door is always open to you." With that, Lucas and I headed back to my room.
