Roman's POV

After hearing what Johnathon had to say my mind was blown. It was a pup. One that hadn't even been born yet and he wanted me to end its life. To end the life of my mate. My mother had always taught us that evil isn't born, it's grown. It's something that manifests over time. I knew I needed to inform Cleo or what I had learned, but I couldn't risk it. After we injected her with a sedative her human side fell asleep. Freya however didn't. She became manic. It was almost like she had been possessed. She killed two of the housekeepers trying to get to Kai. I had wondered if it was something to do with the pregnancy heightening her anger or if it was something to do with the demon that escaped with her blood. But the truth was lying right in front of me. It wasn't my pup or the demons making Freya this way. It was her demon half.

"Roman... can I come in?" Looking to the doorway my mum stood watching me. I knew she was worried about me replaceing my mate because of those hunting me. She now worried that I would lose her after having finally found her. Nodding she turned to close the door before taking a seat opposite me. "How is Cleo?"

"She woke up earlier than expected. It wasn't her mum. It wasn't Cleo."

"I know that son. Is it possible that her father had something to do with it? Kai told me what happened when the demons took her and Daphne." I really could kill that brother of mine. He never knew when to keep things quiet. Sighing I told mum what I knew.

"I've just got off the phone with Johnathon. He believes it's her demon half trying to force control. I want to agree with him, but I saw what she saw mum. That side of her was bound when she was born. Her birth mother sought out a blood witch." My mother sat there in silence for a moment as if in deep thought before finally speaking.

"Are you positive the binding is still in place. Some binds end when you come of age, some also break when you're in a life and death situation. It's almost like something knows what's been bound is needed, the binding becoming undone." "So, do you think maybe we broke the binding by sedating her against her will. I don't know if I agree. Freya was the one in control." Though I couldn't put any confidence behind my words.

"But what if her wolf and demon are the same person." Now that was something I hadn't thought of. If her binding had in fact ended the day she came of age, it would have been the same time she got her wolf. "What did he recommend you do?"

"Kill her." Just saying it out loud sent a soaring pain through my chest.

"Your mate or the pup?" She knew the answer already as tears welled in her eyes, she was just hoping she wasn't right. When I looked to the floor placing my head in my hands mum stood from her chair.

"Oh dear goddess." She sobbed while trying to think of a solution as she paced up and down.

"I won't do it mum. I refuse to kill or let anyone else kill them. They are mine to love and mine to protect."

"Neither will I son. She's your mate which makes her family. That pup she carries is also my grandchild. I will not see any harm come to either of them, I promise you that. Your fathers agree also. We do have a suggestion though." "What is it?"

How could he just cuff me and leave me? I know Freya lost control but at least no one was hurt. The more I tried to replace her in my mind the worse my headache became. The skin on my wrist had become red raw from all the attempts of removing the cuff. Taking a pin from my bun I placed it into the small keyhole turning it at different angles until it clicked. Had I remembered them earlier I could have been out of it ages ago.

Getting to my feet I felt woozy. Whatever Roman had given me was clearly still in my system. For a man that wanted me to trust him, he was sure as hell going the wrong way about it. Making my way to the door was no easy task, my legs were like jelly and refused to co-operate. Gripping the doorknob, I pulled it open to replace an unamused Roman.

"Turn around Cleo." He sounded tired almost as if he couldn't be bothered to argue with me. But tough shit for him, he deserved everything he had coming.

"And if I say no? Because this is bullshit and you know it. I've done fuck all wrong Roman now move." Trying to get around him Roman pushed me backwards.

"Cleo..." Roman went to grab my wrist but I pulled it away before he had the chance. It was easy to see I was getting on his nerves.

"No. Don't you dare 'Cleo' me. I trusted you Roman and you lock me here like a prisoner. Your bitch of a sister started on me. Called me a slut and instead of defending me, your fucking mate you take her side." "I didn't have a choice."

"Like hell you didn't. Now move."

"YOU KILLED TWO PEOPLE CLEO" Roman's words caught me off guard. There was no way I had killed anyone. "Your lying! I... I wouldn't!"

"It's true Cleo. Look please go and sit down and I will tell you everything." Turning around I walked back to the bed Roman sitting beside me. He told me what happened once he injected me with a sedative. He knew it was Freya in control, that I had been locked in my own subconscious forced to do nothing but watch. I tried to force myself to remember anything after that moment but there was nothing there. Nothing except darkness. He said I tried to attack his brother, that when I failed to reach him, I turned on two omegas. The words he spoke hurt me. Sure, I'd been in fights before, but I'd never killed anyone. Roman went on to tell me about his conversation with a man in the council, I watched as he became angry as he replayed their conversation. Through our bond I knew he worried for the safety of the pack, but he worried for me and his pup more.

"So what happens now?" My anger for him had faded after learning everything that happened. I didn't want people to fear me, to fear our pup for something neither of us had any control over. I didn't want our pup to grow up watching over their shoulder every second of the day out of fear of someone coming for them.

"I think we should go with my mum's idea. It's the safest option for both of you, however it's ultimately your choice Cleo. It's not a decision you can make lightly." And he was right. His mum's idea had its risks. I wouldn't be able to defend myself if the need arose and I would likely be a burden to those around me. That being said, if I didn't do it and Roman was right, I wasn't only putting myself at risk but the other members of the Moonlight Pack. "I'll do it."

"Cleo sleep on it. You need time to think it through." Taking his hands in mine, I leaned in and kissed him. When I opened my eyes Roman was staring at me trying to replace any uncertainty I may hold.

"I don't need time Roman. I need our pup to be safe. I don't care what happens to me as long as he or she is ok. Well, that and your pack members." Roman chuckled as he shook his head. "What?"

"They're your pack now too." His words warmed my heart. Since my parents died both Daphne and I had felt out of place. It's part of the reason we wanted to leave when I became old enough. We wanted to replace a place where we would both be welcomed, somewhere we could call home. I felt that here with Roman. I just hoped Daphne would feel it too.
