Fated To Roman: The Almighty Alpha -
Twenty-Five
Roman's POV
Venus stood in my mum's place though by the look in her eyes I knew they were in joint control.
'Mum what are you doing' instantly she blocked me out, she knew I was stubborn and wouldn't give up that easily. Forcing the connection to establish once again, she had no choice but to respond.
'I have made many mistakes in my life and now I have the chance to make them right. Let me make them right.' Even through her cryptic words I knew she meant her sister. Not a day went by that she didn't regret having ended her sister's life. Even as a young boy I remembered hearing her cry in the bathroom when my father's weren't around. She never wanted anyone to think she was weak. I remembered walking in and her cuddling me until I couldn't breathe. There was nothing I could say to change her mind, I knew that no matter how much I hated it. 'No matter what happens son I love you, Kai and Layla.'
My father Hector appeared at my side a leaking wound in his side. His shouting for my mum to stop caused everyone's fighting to cease. Grabbing my father's arms behind his back I held him to me. He would rather die than anything happen to his mate. A sentiment I understand now that I had Cleo.
"Let me go Roman she will kill her." Tears burned my eyes. I wanted to stop it, to stop it all but I couldn't. Venus nodded before turning to face the threat.
As much as I knew my mum had nothing to make up for this was her wish. A wish I couldn't deny her. Kai was quick to help me secure dad as he shifted in my arms. His dark silver fur covered in blood that was both his own and the rogues. Kai wrapped his arms around his throat to try and subdue him, but it was useless. His wolf Bryant had taken over and seeing his mate after so long about to fight had him crazed, his adrenaline kicking in giving him a burst of strength. Nodding to Kai he released our father. Creating a force field, I caged him in. He growled and snarled as he threw himself against it unable to break through.
A high-pitched whimper hit my ears causing both Kai and I to spin round. Mums charcoal coloured wolf was facing off against the red one. There was a time when the tips of Venus's fur had represented the colours of each element she possessed. Though that had been something else the council had stripped from her. The red wolf was faster than my mums knocking her down every chance it had. My heart skipped a beat when I thought that was it. It had Venus pinned to the ground its teeth hovering over her neck. Heat formed in my fingers the urge to end this creeping in.
'Don't Roman.' My mum knew me too well. Letting the heat die out I fisted my hand my knuckles turning white watching as mums wolf bit the red wolfs paw. The wolf withdrew letting Venus up off the ground. Venus taking her chance bit into the wolfs back shaking her head vigorously. Fur and blood splattered the tables as the red wolf was thrown into them sending wooden splinters everywhere. Raising my arm, I used it to shield my face. Letting out my held breath I dropped my arm my hand relaxing as everything went quiet. My mum suddenly shifted back to her human form turning round her eyes glued to me as she stumbled forwards.
My father's soul crushing scream had my heart shattering. My force field dropped by its own accord my father rushing to my mother's side. He reached her as she collapsed catching her just before her head could hit the ground. Looking up to where she came from Daphne stood there her hands covered in blood as she held a silver knife. Growling I launched in her direction only for her to disappear into thin air. Eric grabbed me throwing my backwards confusion at his actions hitting me until realisation set in. Daphne was his mate and no matter her crime he would protect her.
"ROMAN!" Kai's voice had me snarling at Eric before running to where my family huddled over my mother. Both my fathers cradled her in their laps as her skin began to grey. Suddenly a sharp pain ripped through me, and I knew she was gone. Cleo's POV
I woke in my room the air around me cold and heavy. The last thing I remembered was Athena locking the bunker door only for Daphne's scream to sound the other side of it. Athena wasted no time in opening the door to let her in only she wasn't alone. My mouth hung open in shock as two huge men walked towards me. Athena stepped in their path, but they knocked her aside as if she was nothing injecting me in the process. From there everything went black. The space beside me was cold and empty Roman's scent completely gone. Climbing from the bed I walked to the bathroom and washed my face. I tried to call to Roman, but he just blocked me out. Through our bond I could feel him hurting, a pain I knew all too well. Leaving his room, I went down to Kai's office. Knocking on the door no-one answered. I went to knock again until the soft voice of an omega came behind me. "They're at the hospital. Luna Athena... she...she..." unable to finish her sentence the omega walked away. My hand went to my mouth fear crippling me as I thought worst case.

Outside of the hospital every member of the Moonlight pack stood outside. As I made my way through the crowd people turned to look at me disgust and hate on all their faces. Looking at their faces all eyes were on me. Walking backwards I turned and ran into the hospital. Picking up on Romans scent I followed it to the chapel.
Peering through the glass door Roman sat on his own, his head in his hands as his shoulders lifted and dropped. Slowly opening the door, I stepped inside. The creaking of the door alerted Roman to my entrance as he turned to face me. His eyes red and puffy as he wiped the tears on the sleeve of his shirt.
"Get out." My brows furrowed at the force and anger in his words. "Now Cleo!" Ignoring him I walked to where he sat. As I went to place my hand on his shoulder to comfort him, he stood up smacking my hand away from him. The look on his face was one I never thought I would see.
"What happened? Is your mum..."
"Dead? Yes, Cleo she's dead. She's dead because it took you too long to get into the bunker. She's dead because she tried to protect you and she's dead because your fucking sister killed her." I could taste the venom in his words as he shouted. I knew grief affected us all differently, but there was no need for him to blame me.
"No... that's not... your wrong." Gripping my wrists tightly he held me still. Leaning forwards his lips were centimetres from mine. All I wanted was for him to kiss me, to show me everything was going to be ok.
"No, I'm not. Your fucking sister stabbed her Cleo. She stabbed her and like a coward she ran away. Were you in on it?" His grip on me tightened my heart racing a hundred miles an hour.

"Roman... please. You're hurting me." Letting one wrist go he pulled me towards the back of the chapel. Pulling the doors open he pushed me inside. Tripping over my feet I grabbed the first thing I could to stop myself from falling. Holding onto a metal bar I pulled myself up only for my breath and scream to lodge in my throat.
A body laid still under a white cloth, the silhouette of a woman underneath. I didn't need to see who laid under it to know who it was. Stepping back, I walked into Roman's chest.
"Look." His words harsh and stern. His eyes cold and void of emotion as he looked at me. Shaking my head, I went to walk round him only for him to pull me back. "I said look." His words more of a snarl had me whimpering.
Never in my life had I truly feared anything, until now. My whole body shook as I reached my hand out to peel back the white sheet. A sob tore through me as Athena's motionless face came into view. Turning my head unable to look Romans hands forced it back.
"LOOK AT HER!" Fear coursing through me I opened my eyes. Roman ripped the sheet from his mother's body revealing a large stab wound. My legs turned to jelly unable to look anymore. "Your sister done that." "Sh... she wouldn't of! SHE COULDN'T!" My own words coming out as a scream. There was just no way. It wasn't possible. It wasn't her; she'd never hurt anyone.
The doors suddenly opened Kai running in with Eric behind him. Kai looked at his mother closing his eyes momentarily before opening them again. Looking at the force in which Roman was holding me he growled. "Let her go Roman it wasn't her fault. She wasn't even conscious." Roman growled but let me go. "This isn't you brother. You're letting your grief cloud your judgement." Stepping away from them I ran.
