CHAPTER 17

"No way!" Gina exclaimed as he saw her car neatly packed in front of the Station's infirmary. She had run down to the Police Station as soon as she had gotten a call from Hazel with the news that her stolen car had been found.

"Would you love to see the thief?" he asked, her excitement was already infecting him.

"No, I'm glad he finally confessed to him crimes." She replied running her hands around the car and then jumping on the car with a shout of joy.

"Your brother was telling the truth; Monte said laughing; "the car was actually stolen from him." He added as Gina stopped to listen to him, surprise written all over her face.

"You're joking." She added slapping his hard stomach lightly.

"No, I'm not." He replied wearing a serious face.

"Who was it then?" she asked curiously.

"A woman about your age and size; he said with a chuckle; "would you like to see her?" he asked taking her hand.

"No. I forgive her; I do not intend to press charges. It's been a rough year for me." She confessed slowly leaning on him.

"I could pay you a visit if you don't mind." He added trying to sympathize with her but in a more sarcastic manner.

"No, let me have your house address, I'll pay you a visit instead." She replied excitedly.

Monte laughed; dipping his hand into his pocket he drew out a personal complimentary card and handed it over to her.

"I am not promising to come over, but I will try." She added.

Monte shrugged and handed her the keys; "don't forget to talk to Hazel for clearance before you leave. I'll have to go now. I have to attend to urgent business." He replied giving her a warm hug and leaving her alone to the joy of reuniting with her car again.

Monte entered into the consulting room; he found Anna seated with her legs crossed and Ken seated facing her with his hands cuffed. He looked disappointed to see Monte and Monte couldn't care less.

"Good day everyone." Monte said as he took his seat and exchanged glances with Ken and Anna.

"Hello sir." Anna replied without an expression on her face.

"Hello Ken." Monte looked at him as if he was about to get in a battle with him.

Ken smiled at Monte sheepishly as if he were mocking him and then broke into a cackling laughter to the surprise of everyone present in the room.

"Do you deny being in Lydia Evans' room at midnight during the attack that occurred two nights ago?" Monte asked him, ignoring his laughter.

"No, I don't." Ken replied confidently "Can you tell us why you were there?" Monte asked again leaning in closely.

"I just wanted to check up on her." He maintained.

"Why did you have the black rose flower in your possession on that day that Lydia died?" Monte asked further "I don't know; I don't know why. There must have been some manipulations somehow." He argued strongly. "Anna, have you found anything that might be of help to us?" he asked Anna, but his attention was still focused on Monte.

"We found out that the rose flower recovered from Ken was in every aspect similar to all others in our possession; we also found his fingerprint on the rose flower too." Anna explained intelligently.

"Ken, I won't promise you that it would be fine, but I can promise to be milder if you confess and save all of us this stress." Monte emphasized.

"I didn't do anything. I am innocent of every accusation laid against me." He replied breathing heavily.

"No one has accused you Ken." Monte added.

"Sir, it might be of interest to you that the fingerprints on the other thirty-eight flowers of the same kind in our possession are exactly the same and completely different from Ken's. This is the very first flower possessing his fingerprint." Anna further explained.

Monte grew weak immediately; he was weakened by the thought that he had arrested an innocent man, but he pulled himself together immediately and refused to agree that he could have been wrong. "Thank you, Anna, you may leave us now." Monte said tiredly.

Anna smiled as she hands all the files in her hands to Monte and stood to take her leave, leaving Monte and Ken alone in the consulting room.

"I could be wrong; maybe you didn't kill her but why were you there at that time? There is more to this than meets my eye. Why were you with my wife at 2am Ken?" he asked firmly in a low tone. Ken looked at Monte with pity as he spoke; "There is so much you don't know, so many things have not taken place yet. I'm the one who's been arrested yet it is you who looks tired." Ken mocked him. Monte rushed at him in anger and held himself from exploding; he stepped away from hurting him and smiled instead.

"I swear, if at the end of this I replace out that you ever lifted a finger to hurt my Sharon; I will make sure you never see the light of the next day." He threatened Ken and left the consulting room angrily.
