Half and Half
Pixie Grove

Dawn opened the Box. She wasn't in the Titanbraid's house anymore. Alinar was on her shoulder, his face a little pale. He climbed off to the ground. Dawn looked around. There were little hills all in rows, and they looked very strange. Why were the houses like that? Dawn climbed out and looked behind her. The Box she had come out of was very different from the Titanbraid's Box. It was a peachy colour, with silver carvings.

Dawn walked with Alinar to one of the hills. She climbed on top, hoping to see better, when suddenly: CRASH! Dawn fell through the top of the hill.

She had not expected that.

After she had fallen and her terror slowly faded away, Dawn saw that the hill was not a hill, but was in fact a house. She had fallen through the roof. There was a large hole in the ceiling, and when Dawn looked around she saw that the furniture was round to fit the circle-shaped inside of the house. There was a round, curvy bed, a crescent-shaped silver table, some chairs, a sofa, some wooden bookshelves filled with storybooks, and a small kitchen. There were also various bottles hanging from the ceiling, and many had smashed on the floor when Dawn fell.

Then Dawn saw a man sitting on a rocking chair. He had been reading a book, but when he saw a girl fall through his ceiling, he had dropped it.

"What is this?" he said angrily. Dawn saw his face, and he had a small brown beard and brown hair, which covered his pointy ears.

"I'm so sorry, sir!" Dawn gasped. She scrambled up, and saw that Alinar had not fallen through, because he was so light he didn't break the roof. He stood over the hole, peering down at Dawn.

"Sorry indeed!" the man huffed. Dawn didn't blame him. Then he saw her wings and her ears. Dawn was getting quite tired of people staring at her, but this man was not just a little surprised.

He was shocked.

"How..." his voice trailed off. "What is your name?" He asked Dawn.

"My name is Dawn, sir," Dawn said. The man seemed to be choking.

"And your last name?"

"Erm, my last name is Runebloom. Are you alright?" But the man didn't answer. He was crying, and tears spilled down his cheeks.

"You have to go!" he whispered harshly. Dawn was confused.

"Why?" she asked. "And why are you crying?" The man shook his head.

"Look, Dawn you have to go--right now!" Dawn shook her head. She came here to replace her parents, and that was what she was going to do.

"I want to replace my parents first!" Dawn said.

"You found them! Now please, go before it's too late!" Dawn shook her head. Then the man looked at her in the eye, and she gasped.

His eyes were grey. Like hers. They looked exactly like Dawn's eyes.

"Listen, Dawn, I am your father, and I demand you to leave at once!" Dawn almost fainted. Her father. She had found her father, after years of waiting, and now he was telling her to leave.

"Please!" Dawn begged. But her father shook his head.

"I'll come and replace you, I promise. Go back home. You're in danger. Go!" Without a word, Dawn went out a door and ran. She ran back to the Box with all her might, tears spilling down her cheeks. She climbed inside, and wondered where she could go. Her mind was not working properly, and the only place she could think of was the castle, back to Queen Sandra. So she thought with all her might, and then the familiar feeling of zooming down a tunnel returned. Then everything was still, and Dawn opened the Box.
