Hello, Mr. Brent -
Chapter 234
When Franklin got home, he asked someone to call Jason over anddirectly to the study.
Emily didn't know why Franklin looked for Jason. Anyway, she didn'thave a good time shopping today. After going upstairs and changingher clothes, she saw that the bodyguard had already put all the thingsshe bought on the sofa, but she had no intention of looking at them.Jason came down quickly and greeted Emily when he passed the livingroom.
Emily asked casually, "Why did he look for you?"
Unexpectedly, Jason answered, "He asked me to cancel the originalmagazine report and ban some interviews from being broadcast.”
"Ah, why?" Emily was surprised.
Could the newspaper that was sold be taken back? Could the TV showbe taken off the air? It was the first time she had heard of such a thing,Jason smiled and said, "Of course. It's simple. I'll get started right away.In fact, it should have been done a long time ago. It's just that Mr. Brentneeded to be in the public eye more frequently, so he appeared on afew shows and several magazines and newspapers. But a man of Mr.Brent's status doesn't need to be exposed to the public. So it's better toconceal those resources as soon as possible to save himself from thiskind of trouble that happened today."
Emily immediately understood that the trouble Jason was talking aboutwas that Franklin was recognized by someone today when they weregoing shopping.
That's reasonable. Franklin was a good-looking person. Of course, hewas the focus when he was outside. But most people didn't know himbefore, and they could just look at him and talk about him. Now thatthey knew who he was, it was inevitable that he would attract a crowd. But Emily really didn't understand. Franklin used to be very low-key andhe rarely participated in other activities. He just occasionally attendedsome inevitable social engagements but didn't like to go to crowdedplaces.
In particular, he never participated the TV station's exclusive interviewand something like that. So even if he was Lucas’ Youngest Uncle, shedidn't recognize him at that time.
"If he had known things could go this way, why did he have to be sohigh-profile?" Emily muttered.
Jason was stunned, but he smiled and said, "It was for Miss Johnson.""For me?" Emily frowned.
Jason paused, coughed softly, and said awkwardly, "I shouldn't say that, and please don't tell Mr. Brent. Mr. Brent appeared on these magazinesand TV back then mainly to let you see him and come back earlier.”Emily, ".."
"What nonsense are you talking about? If he wants me to come backearlier, just go replace me. It's not easy for him to replace someone, but it'snot very difficult!” Emily muttered.
Jason smiled bitterly and said, "Yes, it should be like this. But who canguess what Mr. Brent was thinking? Just conceal those as he said now,and it will save him these troubles in the future. Miss Johnson, if there isnothing else, I have to go first. I got something to do.”
"Well, go ahead and give my regards to Lisa.” Emily said politely.
Jason nodded and left.
Emily looked upstairs and sighed.
Thinking that he had found a lawyer to defend her mother, shehesitated for a moment and went upstairs to comfort him
After all, what happened today when they were shopping was also forher, so it was reasonable for her to comfort him.
But when she got to the study, Franklin waved at her and asked her togo over.
Emily walked over obediently and stood beside Franklin. Franklinreached out and pulled her to sit on his lap.
"What are you doing?" Emily shook at this pull and blushed inembarrassment and anger.
"Help me see which ring looks good.” Franklin put his arm around herwaist to stop her from moving.
Only then did Emily see a book on his desk with several rings on it.They were all diamond rings, dazzling and beautiful
Thinking that it might be a wedding ring for Avery, Emily couldn't helpbut be envious. She was even angrier at Franklin for going too far. Whydid he ask his ex-wife to help him choose the wedding ring?
"I don't know. You should ask Miss Lewis about this." Emily said angrily.Franklin smiled and said, "I want to give her a surprise. How can I let herchoose? You are all women. Women may have the same taste. If youthink it's good, she will like it too.”
"That's not necessarily true. I have a different taste from her. We aretwo completely different types of people.” Emily immediately retorted.Franklin looked at her fair and tender cheeks with a burning gaze andsuddenly leaned over to kiss her, "But your choice of a man is the same. There must be no difference in choosing a diamond ring."
"Who said that we have the same taste when choosing a man? I'mdifferent from her." Emily immediately jumped up and said angrily. What he meant was that she liked him. Humph, if he hadn't forced herto stay by his side, did he think she would have stayed?
"I helped your mother to replace the best lawyer to solve your family'sproblems. Now I'm just asking you to give me a hand and see whichdiamond ring looks good, but you're unwilling to. Can you still havesome conscience?” Franklin lowered his eyes and said coldly. With agrim face, he described Emily as a heartless bastard who did not knowhow to repay him.
Emily's face turned red from what he said. She was angry and ashamed.Franklin was right. He did help her with her mother. Her attitude wasreally not good now.
So she suppressed her temper and looked at the diamond rings. Finally, she pointed to one and said, "That's it! It looks noble, elegant, andgenerous, and it's very suitable for Miss Lewis's identity.”
"Do you think she's noble, elegant, and generous?" Franklin asked.Emily curled her lips and said, "Of course, otherwise, why would youmiss her for so many years?"
After saying this, her heart hurt again. When she thought that Franklinonly had Avery in his heart, she felt so miserable that even theexpression on her face changed.
Franklin snorted and smiled, "You're right. I've been missing her for somany years. She should have been noble, elegant, and generous in mymind. Your advice is very good. I take it and choose this one.”
"Since you've decided, I'll go back to my room and rest.” Emily wantedto stand up.
But she didn't expect Franklin to still hold her waist. What's more, healso leaned over and rubbed her cheek intimately.
"Let's go to rest together. You only helped me to choose a ring. Do youthink you've repaid me?"
Emily gritted her teeth in anger and said angrily, "I didn't ask you tohelp me. You volunteered to help me. Now you keep threatening me torepay your kindness with this matter. Do you feel embarrassed aboutit?"
Franklin raised his eyebrows and said faintly, "I should be embarrassed, but you know what kind of person I am. In any case, I am a despicableand shameless person in your eyes. What's the difference betweenbeing a villain once and being a villain twice?"
Then he suddenly got up and carried her back to the bedroom.
