Her Forever
Chapter 13

Seth

Doing office work is the worst part of this job. My father had given me his laptop and told me to work on it while I was away from the pack. He is technically still the alpha until I replace my mate. If I ever replace my mate.

It infuriates me to no end sitting here doing nothing. Being outside and in my wolf’s form only gives me a bit of solace.

I try to continue sending emails, tax forms (stupid humans), welfare checks and so forth, but I keep getting stupid she-wolves coming into my office asking if I need anything.

f**k no, I don’t.

I’m tired of all the game playing. They just want the power of a Luna and I won’t give it to them because they don’t deserve it. My mate is the only one able to have that title.

Pulling on my hair, I hear another knock at the door.

“WHAT IS IT!?” I growled and Caspian tried to force a shift. Luckily, I could hold him back. One day I’m not sure if I will be able to control him.

“Alpha, it’s me, Alpha Adrien, something I need to speak to you. Regarding your sister, Rebecca.” He said cautiously.

“Enter.” I said in a monotone voice. I pulled both of my hands up to lie on the desk as I glared at him. Caspian is making himself known.

“Alpha,” he bows. Alphas usually bow to no one, but I am in the Royal Warrior’s pack, so all Alphas bow to me besides the King himself. “I’m afraid there has been a mistake in scheduling of the Lake House.” He uttered.

“The one my sister and her friends are at?” I questioned, annoyed.

“Yes, it is an unmated mixer they hold every 6 months for all the unmated wolves in the area. It is supposed to help them replace their mates, or satisfy their wolves.”

“Shit.” I pound the desk with my fist. Unmated wolves can be bad news and my sister is under my protection, as well as my Beta, Gamma, and Delta. If anything happened to her, me and my wolf would go on a rampage.

“Fine.” I deadpanned. “Ready the SUV and cancel my meetings. I’m going to be gone for the weekend.”

Quickly packing a duffel bag, I head out on the trail. I hate going to mixers. They have them back in the other Realm, but after going to hundreds of them, they became a disappointment. All the depressed wolves end up hooking up and partying.

As I am getting closer, I mind-linked Rebecca.

“I’m on my way to the lake house. There is a mixer tonight and you are not staying by yourself.”

“I’ve got your guys here. I’ll be fine! You get all grouchy at these things and people won’t talk to me.” she whined.

“That’s the point. Where are you at? Are they there yet?”

“Yes, they are here now. We are at the pool. Why don’t you join us? Try to lighten up?”

“Fine.”

I pull up to the giant lake house and park the car off to the side so I can leave quickly if I wanted to. The party looked like it was in full swing, with dancing inside and people with drinks outside. I pulled my black muscle tee off and threw it back into the SUV.

I could see several she-wolves watching and whispering things they shouldn’t be. Keeping stoic, emotionless is the best way to go. Give a girl a smile and they think you want to have their way with them.

The sun was starting the set, and the wind had died down for the day. It was actually very relaxing, more relaxing than I have been in a while. Heading around the house to see the pool, I caught the most intoxicating smell. It smelled like champagne and strawberries.

Caspian perked his head up in my mind and sniffed. MATE, MATE IS HERE.

My breath hitched as I ran towards the pool area. Caspian and I struggled to gain complete control of our actions. My head was shaking back and forth as I raised my hands to my head to steady myself.

Marco runs up to me, “hey man, are you ok?” he stutters. “Oh, shit.” He looks at me and looks out onto the pier. That’s when I see her. Does he know something I don’t?

Marco runs up to me, “hey man, are you ok?” he stutters. “Oh, shit.” He looks at me and looks out onto the pier. That’s when I see her. Does he know something I don’t?

That’s when I see her.

She’s wearing a blue and white bikini that hugs her in all the right places. She is small, tiny and human. Her brunette hair with her blonde highlights sway down her back and she laughs while she is learning how to dance.

Her being human, I’ll have to take it slow, but Caspian is not having it. He is growling and pawing at the surface.

I stay in my spot for a moment to see what happens. I then see her struggle and pushing back, telling Nathan no. There was a bit of distress in her voice.

Her voice.

It was angelic, besides the distress, and it was ours.

Nathan is going to pay.

Caspian took my moment of weakness and pushed me to the side and let off the deafening growl that could be heard for miles. The party stopped and everyone was looking at me. My breathing became heavy, and the adrenaline was coursing through my veins.

I’m holding on long enough so I don’t shift and scare her. She doesn’t look scared of me. She looked happy and then immediately was sad.

Why is she sad?

Caspian had enough staring and started running down the pier. Nathan whispered, “Sadie, run!”

Now she will fear me because of this i***t.

“MINE”, Caspian roared as soon as she hit the water. He jumped with so much force he cracked the beams of the pier and punched Nathan so hard, half his body was laying in the water.

Trying to maintain some sort of control, and failing miserably, we dove into the water. She was fast in the water, almost like she became one with it. When I looked up, she was already on the shore line sprinting into the woods with Rebecca hot on her trail.

By the time I climbed out of the water, I heard her heavy breathing and she climbed up to the very top of a pine tree.

We all hovered on the ground while the crowd of unmated wolves gathered. This was going to be an enormous deal, and no one wanted to miss the Royal Warrior Alpha get his mate.

Caspian growled and he was walking towards to tree to climb to get our mate, but Rebecca stopped him.

“Caspian! I know you are in control. Stand down!” Rebecca spoke harshly and demandingly. She is the only one that has ever talked to Caspian like that. He has a soft spot for her and her wolf. “You are scaring her. Chasing her up the tree will not help. If you want her to come to you, let Seth have control. This will take time.” She said soothingly.

“Mate, I want mate. Get me mate.”

“We will, please give Seth control,” she petted my head in the right spot that Caspian likes. With that promise, Caspian stepped back, still on edge, but I could keep him at bay. Rebecca talked to her, since she would not trust me at this point.

“Sadie, come down, it’s OK! He will not hurt you!” she yelled.

Her name is Sadie. I already loved the way it sounded.

“Sadie.” I whispered as it rolled off my tongue.

“You are NUTS! I am not moving. He was chasing me! He is going to hurt me!” I heard her sobbing. My heart was breaking. We terrified the s**t out of her.

“He won’t, I promise. Please come down. Have I ever lied to you? I would never put you in danger.” Rebecca pleaded.

Sadie’s voice paused, unsure what to do.

“Where is he? Is he down there? I can’t see with all the branches!” she yelled.

“He is here. His name is Seth.” she said soothingly. Man, I really love my sister. I’m going to owe her big time.

“Beka,… he’s the one that told me those mean things at the bar.” she sniffed and I heard her grip more tightly to the tree.

Guy at the bar? What man hurt her at the bar? I was getting flustered and started growling.

“It was you,” Rebecca whispered.

“What? I’ve never seen her? I would have known! How would I hurt her?” I was getting angry and Caspian was trying to shift my face.

Rebecca laid a hand on my shoulder, “you told the girl at the bar to stop being a slut… to stop whoring around and keep her mouth shut or….” she trailed off.

Then it hit me. The only girl at the bar last week that came up to me, it was her. I could have had her a whole week earlier if I wasn’t such an i***t.

I hurt her. I must have hurt her badly, considering she is still upset. Damnit.

I’ve royally f****d up.

Caspian whimpered loudly, and the crowd only got larger.

“Please come down. There is a misunderstanding.” Rebecca almost sobbed. She knows how long I have waited for my mate. To know it is also one of her new good friends makes this really tough. Knowing the pain she has been through because of her brother, well, that makes it even worse. “He would never hurt you. He never meant to. He’s my brother.”

There was silence for a good few minutes. I’m sure she is debating with herself if she should even come down.

“Okay, but tell him to back up 10 yards and give me space.”

I will take it, just being able to look at her more closely. I will take anything she gives me.

Sadie jumps down the last 6 feet from the tree, landing on the front part of her feet. Her hand steadies herself on the ground while she stands up.

So small and petite compared to everyone else. She’s athletic and fast, I can tell by the muscle tone in her legs and torso. Timid by nature, she started to put her arms around herself, looking at me and everyone watching.

This is not what I want, so I gave everyone a glare while she wasn’t looking and they slowly dispersed back to the house.

When I look back at her, she looks afraid, afraid of me. I try to step one step forward, but she takes a step back. I won’t force it, even though I’m dying just to touch her.

Rebecca, seeing the fight I am having with myself, goes to Sadie and brings her forward to me. Sadie looks uncomfortable but continues to follow Rebecca.

Rebecca gives Sadie a nudge, “Um, hi. I’m S-Sadie.” She rubs her arm up and down on the left side of her body.

“I’m Seth. Nice to meet you.” I said as less intimidatingly than I can. I’ve never had to do this.

“Seth,” she says. “Why did you hit Nathan?” Well, she is right to the point. Scratching the back of my head, Rebecca interrupts me. I was not happy she brought up Nathan.

“Oh, he saw Nathan. Him and Nathan are great friends, they work together and it’s a little rival to tackle each other. You know, man stuff.”

“But why did he chase me?” Before Rebecca could reply, I jumped in.

“You went in the water. I was worried for you, so I came after. I didn’t realize that I would scare you so much. I’m truly sorry.” This girl has me so whipped already, I’m saying sorry. I never say sorry. s**t.

“Well, what was that loud, growling noise?” Sadie doesn’t miss a beat. I’ve got such a smart mate.

Marco jumps in, “The speakers! Yeah, the speakers blew and made this loud noise. It happens sometimes. They are working on it right now and the music will be back on soon.”

“Good job Marco.” I mind-linked him.

“Hey, just helping my bro. Oh, and that pie you ate earlier was made by her. She’s become quite popular around the diner.

“And it was the best damn pie I ever had.” I chuckle.
