Her Forever
Chapter 20

Seth

“Alpha Seth, sorry for taking you away from your mate.” Alpha Adrien cautiously spoke.

I had just left my Sadie in a bed, alone, in a house with several unmated warriors for protection because this dumb mother fucker wanted me to check out a security breach on his own damn land. Does he not have the balls to face whatever threat poses to the pack that is supposed to protect the portal to the other realm?

Apparently, he doesn’t.

Growling, I spoke, “This had better be f*****g good.” My claws and teeth elongated. They know not to mess with me. My patience is thin, and I’ve waited a century for my mate, and to be abruptly taken away does not sit well with Caspian. We were going to get b***d.

“Alpha,” Adrien bowed. “I wouldn’t have, but this is of the utmost importance.” I nodded for him to continue. “We smelled a vampire just on the outskirts of town. He infiltrated the town, knowing many warriors would not be present. Once my men caught the scent, they tracked it back to your mates’ cabin.”

Caspian reared his ugly head. My wolf came forward, taking over my body. His golden eyes flashed with rage. The surrounding wolves bowed their heads in submission, including Alpha Adrien. He knows not to f**k with Caspian.

“What did you replace there?” Caspian’s deep, raspy growl vibrated through everyone’s ears, making them wince. Adrien pulled out a deep red rose with a black ribbon tied to it, along with a note.

“We found this on her pillow in her bedroom.” The black envelope with gold, cursive lettering addressed to Sadie had yet to be opened. Caspian took his claws and ripped it open.

“It’s time, my love. My years of trying to woo you has come to an end. You thought moving away would deter my advances; however, my heart cannot bear to be without you. I will see you soon, my darling. X”

Caspian shifted into our midnight black wolf and sprinted from the border breach to the path that the vampire took. It led right to a lone cabin that was settled just outside of the town. The door was open, and the several werewolves standing guard, waiting for any other signs of intrusion.

At least some wolves can do their jobs right.

I shifted back into my human form, not even caring about putting on the damn shorts.

The cabin smelled like her, and it was a drug. Instantly, I relaxed, still being on alert. I followed her smell up to her bedroom. She decorated it plainly, but homely. Soft colors of creams, beige, and whites covered the rooms. Pops of color with house plants and small flower arrangements adorned the tables.

My little Luna was going to make our home perfect.

I hastily picked up the smell that I had followed here. The stench of rotting flesh and dried b***d filled my nose. He had come through the window and had the gall to lie in her bed. My mate’s bed!!! MINE.

Thinking I was done scouting the room, I headed to the door, but felt as if I should stay. Something else was there that I needed to see. I glanced at her closet. The urge to look in there was strong. My wolf even demanded it. Opening the door, her clothes were neatly hung with care, her shoes lined in perfect rows.

Now I know I am going to have to clean up my place.

Then I stumbled upon a an enormous photo album in the back of the closet. I picked it up and opened it. Several pressed, dried flowers in sheet protectors lay perfectly inside. The first flower was entitled “Maria’s wedding flower.” Flipping through, I saw others, “Secret Meadow Flower,” “Daisy,” and others. All of them were dated. When she was younger, she did this a lot until she hit her 8th birthday, and there it was. A deep red rose with a black ribbon around it.

My fist clenched in madness. She’s received these for years. She named them: “Mystery Birthday Flower.” I’m guessing she got one on her birthday.

The flowers she used to press at the beginning of the album became few and far between. Getting to the end of the album, it was nothing but these black flowers. The way she pressed them seemed sloppy and in a rush. She wasn’t taking care of the flowers like she used to.

The last flower of the album was a red rose, carefully pressed. “Aunt Maria’s Funeral.” It was dated only a month ago. Being the second flower with a name regarding Maria’s, she must have meant something to her.

I quickly grabbed the album and stormed out of the house. Throwing it to one of my own warriors from my pack, we get in the closest SUV, and I finally put on a pair of shorts.

“Back to the lake house.” I gruffed in annoyance. The driver took off quickly, knowing my poor-a*s attitude at the moment. What if she stayed home this night? She could have been gone, and I would have lost her once again and possibly never knew about it.

We were approaching the lake house when I received a screaming Rebecca into my ear through our link.

“SETH! GET HERE QUICKLY! Something is wrong with Sadie, b***d… she is bleeding!” she stuttered.

Luckily for us, we had just arrived, and the entire squad of warriors were up the stairs hearing Sadie’s screams of pain and terror electrifying the house. Their future Luna was in trouble, and knowing she was mine made it all the worse.

Rebecca was clutching Sadie in her disheveled state.

“Get the pack doctor, NOW! Ready the SUV for transport back to the pack house! f*****g MOVE!” I screamed in authority. Caspian’s anger was clear, with claws forming across my fingers.

B***d was dripping from Sadie’s eyes, and it was a scene from a horror movie. I’ve been through many wars and battles for claims on land and for our kingdom back home, but seeing your own mate covered in b***d will do something to a man. The b***d continued to flow, and I grabbed her in my arms.

I put my hand behind her back and neck as I laid her down on the bed. Her body shut down at my touch. Her heart slowed, and the tears seemed to stop as I was looking deep within her b***d-streaked face. Just my presence seemed to calm her pain.

Rebecca saw me anguished as I gently tried to wake her. Whispering only words of encouragement, she fluttered her eyes shut. I was selfish and didn’t want her to sleep, and I wasn’t sure she was going to wake back up. My whisper then became husky m***s of pleading.

“Where is the damn doctor!?” I roared at Ethan and Marco.

“We need to get her into the SUV. He is en route to the hospital,” Ethan said with the most confidence.

Grabbing a few blankets to keep her legs covered, I carried her to the SUV, and our driver sped out of there like a bat out of hell.

After being briefed on what happened to Sadie by Rebecca, we reach the pack house hospital with the entire team of doctors and nurses ready to take her in.

They took her from me and laid her on the gurney, and then my own warriors came to me and grabbed me by my arms, restraining me.

“What is the meaning of this!?” Red filled my vision, and if they were going to stand in my way, I would kill them all in an instant. I do things instantly, and I don’t fear the consequences. Wolves should answer to me. “Let me go to my mate!”

“Calm down, and you are shifting. You can’t shift here!” Rebecca’s arm came up to my chest. “The doctors have to take her in alone, and they will do everything they can!”

This did not calm me; it was as if a new power surge came before me, and I was able to knock the silver chains that were trying to be placed on me to the ground. The wolfsbane spray did not even inhibit my senses. I felt my strength become 10 fold. All 10 wolves that tried to hold me down were thrown to the ground before me.

I broke the hospital doors that were laced with silver to keep unwanted mates at bay. None of this even touched the surface of my skin.

I could hear Sadie questioning the doctor. She had woken up, and she was petrified. Her scent only became stronger as I neared her door, calming me to an extent. Bursting through the doors, all the medical personnel looked at me in confusion, fear, and disbelief that I got through their security measures.

“Seth! Who are these people?” she spoke in a whispered tone. Rushing to her side, I put my hand on hers and kissed the side of her cheek as I took in the glorious scent. Calming instantaneously, she squeezed my hand and smiled.

“These are our pack doctors, and they are going to run some tests to replace out what happened. What were you doing when this happened, love?”

“I was just thinking about all the things that have happened the past few days, werewolves, mates, my aunt, which I found out was a werewolf!!! She lived in the cabin I have now!” Her words were filled with excitement and awe from this new information she has been given in the past 24 hours. “But then, I got a horrible headache, behind my eyes, and then it got worse, and the b***d came out when I cried!”

The doctors looked at one another, not knowing what to do. “We are going to do a CT Scan, MRI and b***d tests. We may need to call The Ministry of Health and Spirit if those tests come back negative.” The Doctor Talbert scribbled on his clipboard.

“What do you mean, The MHS?” I questioned. “They are just known for magic curses on the body.”

Rebecca, along with Lela, Ethan, and Marco, was standing outside the room listening. My sister was still silently crying while Lela hugged her calmly. Rebecca had become really close to Sadie, hell that entire group had. Sadie was quite likable among other wolves. Her gracefulness and loving attitude were enough to even calm my beast.

“Bleeding from the eyes,” Doctor Talbert began, “is a sign of magic use. It isn’t every day in a human species that this happens. In fact, it is quite rare. I have a feeling magic was being involved. Even so, she felt more pain in the few brief minutes of bleeding than the equivalent of being shot in the kneecap.”

My growl shook the entire building as pictures, utensils, and monitors fell and shattered to the ground. My Sadie sat there with a an astonished face as she saw me grimace from hearing about the pain she had felt. No one spoke a word, and all eyes were on the floor; Caspians’ aura was invading the room, and it was stifling.

Sadie looked up at me with her innocent eyes and smiled gently at me. “Seth, will you come lay with me?” Everyone’s head snapped to her. Did she not hear the war cry come from my mouth? Could she not feel the tension in the room? Yet, she continued to pat next to the bed as she scooted over to make room for me. Her smile never faltered. She continued to look at me like the night before when I told her I was her mate.

I quickly was at her side and sat next to her. I put my arms around her and buried my face into her neck. My hands grabbed the sides of her body, just running it up and down to soothe her. Sadie’s hands played with the hair on the back of my neck. Rubbing small circles around my back.

She was a novice to understand what a mate bond was or how it worked. However, she knew I needed it as well. We sat there comforting each other as doctors came in and out of the room to draw b***d and do tests.

Sadie petted my hair and tended to me as if I was the patient. I whispered sweet nothings into her ear about how beautiful she was and how happy I was to replace such a treasure. My mate was finally here, and I was to make her the Luna of our pack. The rest of the wolves will adore her for being able to calm a beast such as I.

The rest of our friends stayed in the waiting room, waiting to hear the results.
