Her Forever
Chapter 50

Sadie

The heaviness of my head combined with the pain in my abdomen tripled in the span of thirty seconds. At least, it felt like thirty seconds. My eyes continued to fight my weighted lashes, and my hands continued to twitch, trying to replace anyone’s hand near mine. I craved a touch, the touch that would burn into me and give me the comfort that I desperately needed.

As if someone heard my prayers, I felt it: the tingles, the warmth, the gentle caresses to my cheeks. If I had the strength, I would have leaned into the touch to gain every bit of surface area from him. A soft m**n or grunt left my throat as I tried to part my lips to say something, anything. Trying to let him know not to let go. His warm breath was next to my ear, waiting for the tingling of anticipation of him to say something to me.

“It’s alright Love, sleep. I won’t leave.” Hearing the bit of encouragement from my mate’s husky voice, I let go. I fell back into the darkness that had been calling my name for the longest of times.

I don’t know if hours had passed, days or even weeks, but I felt lighter. The light was trying to pry my eyes open and letting my eyes relax. Letting the sunlight in, I opened them. My body was stiff, but I could roll to my side, ready to feel the soft sheets under me on our bed. But I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn’t. It was grass, the softest of grasses that I ever felt. Some grass had the prickly feeling where weeds would try to strangle the softest parts, but not this grass. It was glowing in the light.

Sitting up, I found myself in the same meadow I met Artemis not too long ago. I had received information about Nathan and Diana and the bond that was being created. I smiled and sighed as I jumped up, waiting to go replace the lake where Artemis was. However, she wasn’t there, and it was someone else. Before I started walking, Gaia trotted up beside me.

“Hey there, gorgeous,” Gaia spoke.

“You were amazing, Gaia.” I sighed a breath of relief at seeing her all healed.

“We were amazing. I’m part of you, you know.” She gave a quick wink as we continued to walk to the woman by the lake, skipping stones across the stilled waters. About ten feet away, I stopped, waiting for her to turn around. Gaia took it upon herself to walk up to her, rubbing her head to her h*p. Letting out a small laugh, she turned around.

“There you are; I thought I would have to wait another day for you to get here,” she smiled.

“A day? How long have I been asleep?” I questioned.

“A few.” She hummed and continued to skip the stones. Once her last stone was across the pond, she wiped her hands clean and walked towards me. She didn’t wear robes or something Greek and authoritative. She wore a simple midnight blue dress with a half-moon necklace. Her hair was pulled into a high ponytail, and her feet were bare, letting the grass tickle her feet. The small glowing moon adorning her forehead.

As she walked, the sun set, and the moon rose. It all happened in a matter of minutes, and I couldn’t help to stare at the wonder this world had. Was this a dream? Was it in my head or a different place altogether?

“Don’t think so hard Sadie, you will give yourself an aneurysm,” she chastised. “I’m Selena, the Moon Goddess, in case you were wondering.” I nodded in agreement and bowed my head in respect.

“I’m just here to congratulate you. You figured everything out on your own. Sometimes I have to come down here and knock some sense into these wolves, but you surpassed them all. It will make you an outstanding leader when the time comes.”

“Figured everything out? What do you mean? I’ve hardly done anything!” My voice rose.

“Such a humble one,” she mumbled. “You are Seth’s perfect mate, the well-mated pair I’ve made. I should pat myself on the back a bit more,” she giggled. I stared at her, really confused. “You understand why you didn’t have a wolf, and you were to experience what it was like to be vulnerable, to feel helpless yet could be so powerful without the physical abilities. Compassion, mercy, those are good qualities of a ruler, right? Especially with a werewolf nation.” Selene clasped her hands together.

“It isn’t often to replace compassion and mercy with supernaturals, it can be pretty brutal, and your spirit, your soul, contains all of it. You could tame the wild beast, the fiercest warrior that Ares himself helped create. Out of all of your adventures the past few months, you did it all. You kept your soul pure and still continue to feel mercy in those who had done you wrong.” Selene walked up to me and put some of my hair behind my ear. She leaned over and whispered, “I’m so very proud of you. The Moon Kingdom and all the supernatural community will be blessed for it. I’m so proud, so proud, so proud…” Her words kept repeating over and over until my eyes shut. It was like a lullaby. The moon dimmed, and the light flowed away from me as I fell asleep once more.

Seth

After the giant howl within the cottage, we all barged in, and no one noticed. The atmosphere was tense. King Drago and Sadie were in a heated stand-off with each other. Before I could take a step closer, Sadie’s parents held out their arms, letting us know not to interfere. Caspian was howling for us to jump into the action, but the royals seem to have another agenda. I’m not allowed to disobey a king’s order, so I’m forced to wait.

Sadie’s wolf was small, but you could see the lean muscle that was under her fur. She was just like a small fox, funny since that has always been her nickname around the pack. Her fur was red and white spots on all the right places for a fox, except for one of her paws was a bright yellow color. Both of her parents had the same coloring, and it must be a sign of their lineage.

Sadie was quick, and she ran around the room, trying to replace a perfect point of attack. Vampires are quick, but it seems that Sadie had the advantage here for her small size. She pounced once, twice, and on the third pounce, Drago took his giant claws and ripped down Sadie’s torso. Waiting for her to fall, she continued her assault of running around him and finally jumping onto his back and biting down on the back of his neck. The growl that left her was large, loud, as loud as mine. She was small, but she was ever mighty.

I was feeling delight. She had cracked the bastard’s neck in one go, but knowing we had to do more to ensure his death, I knew it wasn’t over. Sadie probably doesn’t understand this, yet she still holds onto his neck. The shock on her small face when she looked at us was precious. She was astonished that we all stood there, waiting for her to finish her first battle like it was her first time walking as a child. If she saw us before she started fighting, I’m sure she would have wanted us to rescue her, but her parents wanted her to replace out that she could do it all on her own. Pride was beaming from me, and I loved this woman with all my being.

Sadie had compassion, mercy, and now pride and strength. We were the perfect blend for each other, and I couldn’t ask for more.

Sadie swayed, with Drago’s neck still in her mouth. Calling out to me, I rushed to her side, just finally catching her before she fell asleep.

We all took Sadie back to the pack house. Her parents wanted to touch her and be with her, but they allowed me to carry her. They knew I was on edge with not having a mate, but they also realized our bond was sealed, and we needed each other more. I felt guilty, but her father waved it off. He continued to hold his wife’s hand as we traveled out of the forest.

Her wounds were deep, but already healing. She would need to stay in the medical ward of the pack house for a few days to ensure proper healing.

The pack house was in an uproar. Kids were screaming and so excited to see Luna come back to the pack house. With the Royals here as well, everyone thought it would be a perfect time for a party. However, with the poisoning of the liquor from the last party, it was all thrown away. That was another problem, and we needed to figure out who helped Drago.

Instead of separating Drago’s head and burning his body to ensure his death, we kept him alive for the council to deal with. The council comprised all the species of the supernatural that lived in Bergarian. If it were up to me several months ago, I would have done away with him. The look in Sadie’s eyes told me she felt guilty, and I didn’t want her to have that on her conscience, so we had him locked away with UV lights shining on the little s**t’s face. The King and Queen were impressed with my decision, knowing my quick and rash decisions.

“Our daughter has certainly changed you. That will be good in a few years until we retire,” King Emilio spoke. “I wish to have some time with her before you go off on your mating ceremony and leave for a while.” He wiggled his eyebrows.

“You are handling this awfully well, dear,” Queen Estar spoke and put a hand on his chest.

“Well, she can obviously handle herself now, can’t she? She proved herself today. If she didn’t, I’d fight Seth right here.” He let out a boisterous laugh that filled the entire medical room.

“Sshhh, let her sleep. I’m sure she didn’t sleep at all while she was at that terrible cottage. Let’s go. Seth will tell us when she wakes up.” I nodded to her in thanks, and they left.

I waited and waited. Days went by, and she still hadn’t woken up. Getting on edge, I finally grabbed the doctor by the collar and told him to wake her the f**k up. “Alpha, I can’t rush these things. She had a traumatic experience; she shifted all on her own and way too fast from the looks of it, plus fought off a demon king vampire. What do you want me to do?” He asked, exhausted. “I can’t do anything, just talk to her. Talking helps people come out of sleep more than you know.” He patted my shoulder, and I sat by the bed.

As he walked out, he threw a glance back at me. “You know, Alpha…” he started, “I know it is hard to watch your mate be like this. Just know she will come out of it. She didn’t go through all of what she did just to fall short at the finish line.”

I leaned back in the chair, my hands behind my head. He was right; she went through a lot, hell I gave her a mating mark and a changing mark at the same time, and she woke up the next day absolutely fine like it was supposed to happen. I leaned into her ear, grabbing her hand, and started whispering to her.

“Love, you have to come back to me. You are such a strong Luna and will be an even more amazing princess and queen.” I kissed her eyelids slowly and went back to her ears. “You fought off a king, a king of vampires. You are so strong, both mentally and physically. I’m so proud of you, so proud of you-” that’s when I felt a squeeze of my hand, and her eyes finally opened.
