Chapter 29~Stay on the porch!

Sebastian’s POV~

I linked my dad…meet in my office ASAP…and rushed through the door, practically dragging Arabella. She’s laughing and trying to keep up, but I am just too excited! I sit down and pull her into my lap. The guys are all looking at me like I have lost my mind! They don’t get it! I haven’t lost it…I have finally found it!

My dad comes skidding into the room…knocking into a side table and toppling a lamp to the floor. His hair is all over the place, his shirt buttoned up wrong and only one shoe..and he says “What? What’s wrong?” And I can’t answer because I am laughing so hard I can’t breathe. And Arabella says “Oh it’s nothing to be upset about, Grandpa…your son is just excitable.” And you could have heard a pin drop. I’m not sure if they’re figuring out we’re pregnant or if they are just shocked, thinking she just disrespected the former King. And nobody speaks…and the room fills with tension. She throws her hands up in the air and says “Oh for Goddess sake! I’m pregnant!”

And my father yanks her off my lap and swings her in circles while she giggles. He has such a huge smile on his face and all the guys are congratulating us and then my mouse squeaks..grabbing Callista and says “Our babies will grow up together..and play together…and be best friends forever! Just like us…you and me and Sebastian and Kaiden…” with a second squeak following it. Kaiden looks at me and says…”she’s like one more bit of good news away from blastoff” and we all laugh!

We had all settled down and working on various things. Arabella and Callista were working on provisions lists for the bunkers..and groceries for the pack. Kaiden was running video feed on Ezekiel and Brayden and Cory were running strategy for warrior placement. Me…. Oh yeah..I had the fun job! Paperwork! Kaiden looks up and spins his tablet.. I looked at it..realizing it was the front of Ezekiel’s packhouse. There was about 20 blacked out SUVs loading what look to be warriors. A mindlink came through “Breach! Breach! At the jail! Three guards down!” And we all hauled ass out of the packhouse!

I reached the jail and see not 3…but five of our men gone! A single bullet to each of their heads…. Kaiden runs inside and backs video up to the moments before the breach. And we watched in disbelief…as three men dressed in black came through the rear door firing on the first two guards…then the third as he rounded the corner. The two guards at the front sounded the alarm and one man stepped forward and shot them both. Two of them ran to the cells and fired into the locking mechanism and released Byron….then Celia and they all ran out the rear door. Just that fast!

Cory is yelling at his tracker team to go! Paws on the ground and replace where they went! Brayden is yelling for reports on how the breach was accomplished. Arabella is ordering every available warrior to pack central and we all take off to meet them. I mindlink Earl…he responds immediately…I ask his location and he says about 130 southwest of the kingdom. A battle is gearing up and they are waiting on the alpha’s troops to arrive. He said there are about 180 rogues and mercenaries in place. He was going to hang out long enough to get a headcount on how many we were facing, then he was heading to us..and bringing the men he served with in Afghanistan. They are all snipers and excellent marksman… he will alert me before they reach our border so they don’t get shot coming in..then he chuckled. So, at least we will have some valuable intel!

I stood on the stage and readied to address our people….I opened the packwide link and said “Sterling Moon…a heinous attack occurred less than an hour ago. We have lost 5 of our own and two prisoners have escaped…prisoners who are traitors to the crown! We are at war! All my people who cannot fight…to the safe rooms! Every bunker is equipped to handle 200 wolves. Beta Callista will give you your assigned bunker number! Farmers!! Hunker down in your safe houses! Someone will let you know when it is safe.

Warriors! Those who will remain on two feet…gear up! Full body armor and meet with your queen for position assignments. Archers and Gunners…be prepared to hit the trees! The rest of you are with your battalion leaders and will shift on my order! We have a few hours ao take this time to speak with your families and prepare yourselves. Border patrol, I am expecting six mercenaries at the southwest border within an hour…allow them to pass…and escort them to me. We will prevail! We cannot fail! This ends today! Spare lives if you can…but only if your opponent is incapacitated. If you can’t spare them,,,then know.. the Goddess is on the side of right! And that is US! Now, disperse but be alert!”

It felt like I had no sooner sat down to scarf down a couple sandwiches that I got the link saying Earl and his men were here…as they were shown into the office..my beautiful mate handed them each a plate with sandwiches and chips and a bottle of water. As they ate , I said “I want to swear you all in as pack, so you have full advantage of the link…if after this is over…and you choose to maintain your lone wolf status..you may do so,with my blessing and backing. Is this acceptable?” And they all nodded and we got that out of the way.

Earl spoke up immediately…”Alpha…we are facing about 500 men. Nearly 200 of them with nothing to lose. They will be coming in two directions…south and west. Both alphas are leading the troops. They only have six snipers and a dozen marksmen. With your permission, my men and I will take out the snipers…the marksmen will then be a piece of cake. Arabella said she and her archers will handle the marksmen and as I nodded at her Earl said “I’m impressed,Luna!” She grinned that little grin that makes the devil shiver and says” I learned at a very early age…if you can’t run with the big dogs, you’d best stay on the porch!” And we all laughed…knowing my girl is one of the Big Dogs!
