"Quick, get Eliza inside! What on earth happened? Why was she out in the rain?" Audrey anxiously peered outside. "You all, how could you let her suffer like this?" The servants scrambled to carry Eliza into the house.

Audrey immediately took charge. "Quick, call Dr. Kins! And hurry, make some ginger tea. Pour it into the bathtub and make it nice and hot. Let Eliza soak in it for a bit."

"Understood, ma'am."

Eliza was very weak, but she woke up in a daze. As she soaked in the ginger tea, her body slowly began to warm up.

Caroline stayed close by, worried she might drown.

"Why were you kneeling in the rain? Who made you do that? Was it Dad or Casper?"

Eliza could barely muster the strength to speak. "Casper... he said I needed to atone."

"Atoning for what? He blames you for Grandpa's death? That's just ridiculous. What does Grandpa's death have to do with you? Eliza, you let him push you around too much. You can't keep letting him treat you this way."

Eliza gave a bitter smile. She knew she shouldn't let it happen, but sometimes, she just couldn't fight back.

"Caroline." There was a knock on the bathroom door; it was Audrey. "I made some ginger tea for Eliza. Bring it to her."

"Coming, Mom."

Caroline opened the door and took the ginger tea. "Mom, don't worry."

"This girl just won't stand up for herself." Audrey shook her head sadly.

The ginger tea was warm and soothing. It warmed Eliza from the inside out. She felt much better.

After her bath, the doctor gave her an injection, and she drifted into a deep sleep.

Caroline gently closed the door and went to Audrey's room.

Audrey, who had been praying, stopped when she saw her daughter come in. "Is she asleep?"

"Yes."

Having spent many years abroad, Caroline wasn't very familiar with the dynamics between Casper and Eliza.

"Mom, I know Casper hasn't liked

Eliza since they got married, and

Nova Why don't they just genet

now he's always with that woman,

divorced?"

Audrey wasn't sure either. She actually supported Eliza in getting a divorce.

"Your brother never talks to me

about his feelings, so I don't know what's going on with them or what he's thinking." Audrey only knew that Eliza's eyes had lost their sparkle. "If they could get a divorce, I'd it.

Swpport

"They haven't had a child in two years. I guess Casper doesn't want one."

"Honestly, they're better off without kids. It would just be a burden and would only hurt her."

Audrey had been a victim herself.

If she could do it all over again, she definitely wouldn't have had her two children. She definitely wouldn't have married Tristan.

Their conversation was cut short when Casper returned. He strode briskly, heading straight for the memorial hall.

When he did not see Eliza there, his expression darkened.

Caroline looked at him, brows furrowed. "What? She's not kneeling there, and you're mad?"

"Where is she?" His voice was calm, but a storm brewed beneath.

She raised an eyebrow. "Sleeping."

"Sleeping?" He put his hands on his hips, silent fury radiating from him. "What right does she have to sleep? Has Grandpa forgiven her?"

"Casper." Caroline's anger flared.

"When did you become so irrational? What are you trying to do? Are you trying to kill her? What do you think she is? A dog, a cat, or some bug you can just step on and crush?"
