His Secret Obsession -
Chapter 49
(Emery)
I was cuddled up in Asher's arms, his warm breath fanning against my neck as he fell into a deep peaceful slumber. My mind was still racing from today, how my uncle opened up to me and eventually gave us his blessing in his own way. That was such a relief honestly, because if my uncle were to still be against it...I know deep down it would break my heart.
By the end of the night, everyone was back to normal..well, there were a couple of disapproving glares from Carson and my Uncle Jack a few times..but is holding hands and hugging really that bad? On our way home, Asher asked me to stay the night at his place so he could grab a few things to pack for my apartment.
I didn't quite agree with the idea of him moving in yet, but apparently he needs two duffel bags full of clothes and a backpack filled with his electronics for my place..so it seems the process has already begun. He even ordered a new bed for us, it's supposed to come Monday and is a California king.. I don't know if it will even fit through my door but I guess we will replace out.
I closed my eyes, trying so hard to get to sleep as I let out a sigh and snuggled into Asher's bare chest even further. His body was like a furnace wrapped around me and radiating heat off of his smooth toned skin. Just as that lull of sleep began to pull me under..l heard a vibrating sound that made my eyes snap open.
Lifting my head, I peered at the nightstand and saw my phone light up as an anxious feeling began to creep into my chest. Could something of happened with my dad or Uncle?
Slipping out of Asher's arms, I reached over and picked it up hastily, noticing Mack's name was on the screen..why was she calling this late..actually, I was surprised she was calling at all, to be honest.
"Hello?" I whispered, feeling Asher moving next to me as he let out a low groan.
"Em..I need you.." She cried, making my heart stop as Asher now sat up, looking at me with a sleepy expression.
"Mack, what's wrong? Is everything okay?" I asked calmly, trying not to panic as I knew that wouldn't help her current state. She sounded kind of drunk and I suddenly realized tonight was the night of her party. How did I forget about that?
"No..it's..it's Ethan. He is a fucking psycho. I'm sorry Em..I don't want to be here alone I'm scared." She cried hysterically, her words slurred and incoherent.
I met Asher's gaze, seeing his brow furrow as he must have heard what Mack said. He quickly held his hand out, asking me to give him the phone as I passed it over without hesitation.
Asher grabbed the phone and put it up to his ear before speaking.
"Mack, what happened, are you hurt?" He spoke firmly, concern filling his voice as Mack began to sob harder.
"He..he pushed me..and threatened me." I heard her confess, making Asher clench his jaw as he gripped my phone tighter and inhaled a sharp breath.
“Is the f*****g a*****e still there?" Asher stood up abruptly, walking over to his dresser before pulling out a pair of basketball shorts and a shirt.
"Lock the door and stay in there." Asher responded to something I couldn't hear considering he was across the room now.
"Carson and I will be there to break it up..you just need to calm the fuck down Mack..seriously. Just take a deep breath or you are going to trigger a fucking panic attack." He ordered, being firm and direct which I think Mack needed at this moment. Considering she was pretty wasted it seems like.
"Okay, keep your phone ready. If he comes back, you dial 911 do you understand me?" He asked, his eyes glancing towards me as he slipped on the shorts before saying goodbye and hanging up the phone.
I jumped off the bed, walking up to Asher as I stared at him worriedly.
"I want you to stay here." He blurted, making me blink my eyes in shock..there was no way in hell I would stay here. Especially not when Mack needs me..
"Asher, I need to be there for her..please." I pleaded, looking around the room for my pants that got thrown somewhere after Asher Stripped them off of me. Luckily I was wearing one of his oversized t-shirts already.
His hand flew up as he began running his fingers through his hair and let out a deep sigh before closing his eyes shut, like he was having some type of internal battle of something.
"Fine, but you stay in the office with her and don't leave until we come back to get you. Do you understand me?" He opened his eyes, peering down at me as his silver orbs swirled like a storm brewing deep inside of him.
I just nodded my head, watching as he stepped forward and took me in his arm, his body swallowing me whole before tilting my head back and capturing my lips in a passionate kiss. Every ounce of worry and concern evaporated beneath his touch as he filled me with comfort from the warmth of his embrace.
"I have to wake Carson up." He whispered, pulling back slightly before brushing my hair out of my eyes.
"Okay, I will get dressed and wait for you in the living room." I whispered, pulling away fully as I searched for my pants once more, hearing Asher open the door and walk away.
As soon as he left, that worry and trepidation came rushing back, making me fear for Mack's safety as a part of me felt the guilt of not being there for her. Maybe if I went to the party this never would have happened.
No..that was Mack's choice...she didn't want me there and I can't blame myself for this happening. I can't spire down that path..there was no use in feeling guilty whatsoever.
I found my bra hanging on a lamp and slipped it on under my shirt..maybe next time I need to neatly pile my clothes up instead of letting Asher rip them off of me..might be a lesson learned.
After putting on my converse, I slid my phone into my pocket and made my way out towards the living room.
Before I could reach the sitting area, Asher and Carson came barreling down the stairs with Jackie close behind. My eyes scanned Carson as he looked beyond pissed..and was that a baseball bat in his hands?! Oh god..this could end badly..very badly. "Let's go, we will take the jeep." Asher rushed over to me, his arm circling around my waist as we all headed to the garage before piling in.
"I'll sit in the back with Jackie." I glanced at Asher, seeing him nod once as he opened the back door for me, and watched as I slid in.
I knew Carson needed to sit by Asher for this..the vibe was almost similar to how they behaved before a game. They needed each other right now because no one knew what the situation might be like when we get there.
Even though Carson and Mack have been fighting, I know for a fact that he would do anything for his sister...and I felt the exact same. If Mack was ever in trouble or needed help, I would be there.
"It's going to be okay." Jackie whispered, gripping my hand as felt a lone tear trickle down my cheek before wiping it away with the back of my hand.
I had never heard Mack so afraid in my life. The fear in her voice was unsettling and horrible thoughts kept creeping their way into my mind. What if he comes back and hurts her more? How much did he hurt her already that we didn't even know about?
We mostly drove in silence, I could feel Asher's gaze watching me from the rearview mirror and knew he was just as anxious as the rest of us. I know he wanted me to stay back and not be involved but there was no way I could abandon Mack like this. I needed to be there for her like I always was. She said she needed ME..that was the first time I had ever heard those words..that's when I knew no matter what I had to be there for her.
After driving for the longest fifteen minutes of my life, we finally made it to the open gates as the scene before us was pure chaos. There were cars parked sideways, blocking the driveway, and at least eighty people outside alone. Some were talking and laughing while others were kissing or making out.
"What the fuck." Carson mumbled. There were more people here than I have ever seen at one of their parties. It was insane.
"We might have to call the cops." Asher added, glancing towards Carson as he nodded.
Suddenly we drove up to one of the cars that was blocking the driveway and noticed a guy with piercings and tattoos leaning up against the hood of the car. He looked like some edgy model that Mack probably worked with before.
"Hey dipshit, move the fucking car right now." Carson yelled out the window, his patience already gone as the guy was smart enough to listen the first time, which was a good thing because I honestly think that's as nice as Carson can be right now.
I was surprised when he moved the car right away and parked it outside the gates.
"Time to wrap it up, go the f**k home! The party is over!" Carson began to yell as we passed by multiple people.
"I don't think they are listening." Jackie whispered, looking out the window nervously. She looked as intimidated as I felt.
"Oh, they will listen.." Carson gritted between his teeth and stuck half his body out of the window now before yelling.
"The cops are coming..get the hell out of my house now!" He bluffed, but that seemed to do the trick as people began to scatter. I'm guessing most of them were underage with how fast they were moving.
Then we finally made our way up to the house as Asher pulled into the driveway and parked. The scene before us made my jaw drop..the place was completely trashed..I'm talking chairs thrown outside, people throwing up off of balconies, and garbage littered everywhere..what the hell happened here.
"After we save Mack from this shit show..I am going to fucking kill her myself." Carson grumbled before we got out of the car. This was pretty bad..and I had a feeling it was about to get a lot worse.
