The atmosphere shifted noticeably among them.

Brian, clearly irritated, remarked, "I can't believe Stuart is letting a woman control him. He's completely enchanted by a seductress."

Fletcher's patience snapped, and he grabbed Brian by the collar, his voice firm, "Brian, you don't have any idea what kind of person Morwenna is. Don't speak ill of her without knowing the truth. She's the woman Stuart trusts, and she has risked her life for him before." "If someone as genuine and pure-hearted as Morwenna is considered a seductress, then there are no good women left in this world."

Brian shoved Fletcher away, retorting, "Fine, you believe in her, then let her go replace Stuart. She has a way to track him, doesn't she? For someone who's not afraid to risk their life, venturing into a dangerous no-man's land to prove her loyalty should be nothing." Fletcher didn't continue the argument. Some truths needed to be discovered before further discussion could be meaningful.

...

Back at Hetfield's Homestead, Morwenna sat beside Norbert's bed, watching over him as he lay in a restless slumber.

She gently held Norbert Hetfield's hand, whispering as if confiding a secret, "Norbert Hetfield, don't worry. I haven't done anything wrong. I just told a little white lie to Phineas. Norbert Hetfield, I'm learning to bend the truth too..."

Whether Norbert could hear her or not, Morwenna continued to murmur softly, her voice blending with the rhythmic beeping of the machines beside them, as if echoing her sentiments.

Phineas had fulfilled his promise, administering some medicine to Norbert. Though it was unclear what it was, Norbert seemed much more at ease, as if the pain had subsided.

Perhaps it was painkillers, possibly with side effects, but at that moment, the specifics didn't matter.

Knowing Norbert didn't have much time left, Morwenna wished for nothing more than for his final days to be free of pain.

Morwenna hadn't eaten or even drunk water, occasionally dozing off beside the bed out of sheer exhaustion.

During one such uneasy slumber, Morwenna felt someone stroking her head. She opened her eyes defensively, only to replace Norbert Hetfield awake.

Norbert's frail voice broke through, "Wenna, why are you sleeping here? Go back to your room. You won't rest well here."

It took Morwenna a moment to process this before joy filled her eyes, "Grandpa, you're awake!"

Norbert smiled gently, "Yes, I'm awake. I feel much better today. You've gone through a lot, Wenna."

"It's no trouble at all. As long as you're here, Norbert Hetfield, I'm fine."

"You need to look after yourself too

I've been lying here so long, my

mouth feels tasteless. I could go for

something flavorful."

Morwenna nodded eagerly, "Right away, what would you like? Anything but alcohol is fine. How about some juice?"

"It's been ages since I've had a taste of alcohol. Ha, juice, let's have juice."

Seeing Norbert Hetfield so spirited filled Morwenna with happiness.

Phineas must have given Norbert Hetfield some effective medicine!

She hurried downstairs to the kitchen to make the juice, only to be met by Phineas, his face clouded with impatience.

Phineas grumbled, "Morwenna, come out. Fletcher wants to see you."

Morwenna refused flatly, "I can't. Norbert Hetfield is awake and wants juice. I need to make it for him."

"Hah, his throat's been slit open. He can't eat or drink anything orally. What juice?"

Morwenna paused, her grip

tightening, "Norbert Hetfield asked for it. You must have used some good medicine. He's getting better."

Phineas laughed cruelly, "I didn't use any special medication, just a heavy dose of painkillers. It's not improvement; it's probably just a momentary rebound!"

The sound of a glass shattering echoed as Morwenna's grip loosened, the glass tumbling to the floor.
